***NEW PHOTOS AND VIDEO-- ***Click here for Allie and Poppy's Facebook Album The girls continue to do well in their foster home and are now enjoying daily walks. They really are so sweet and cuddily. Now they even sleep in bed with their foster mom and dad. July 2024: Happy 3 year birthday girls. We never thought it would be this long to find them a forever home, but I have some new insights into what the girls are all about having baby sat them for a week while their wonderful foster parents were on vacation. As I have a houseful of happy dogs, it did take Poppy a bit longer to feel safe. Allie was happy to meet new friends right away. I do think Poppy is a little protective over her little sister. It took the girls a few hours to feel safe with me but Poppy started trusting me a little sooner than Allie. FOOD was very helpful for us becoming friends and if we find an adopter for our bonded sisters, it won't take long for them to trust if yummy cheese and treats are part of the process. I was also happily surprised how the girls figured out our routine of going in and out and feeling safe in a cage. I didn't have any problems soaking down Allie's kibble and I also added some thawed raw food which she loved and which she was able to eat. These girls would be great candidates for a Farmer's Dog food home-- although I really liked giving them both some yummy, healthful raw. After 2 days the girls were comfortable with all my dogs that's when I started taking photos. They were raised with a lot of dogs in Mississippi- but they started getting attacked by the resident pack and that's when we had to move them north. Around day 5 or 6, both girls really felt comfortable with their new friends and went in and out with no issues. At that time I gave them more freedom to hang out with us which made Allie especially happy so that she could go in the toy box. Both girls are affectionate when they are not afraid. Their foster mom and dad have done a great job with cuddles on the couch and taking them on dog walks too. When Allie is happy, she will nibble on your fingers and Poppy LOVES her head rubbed. Poppy also enjoyed being brushed. Our bonded sisters have waited nearly 3 years to find a forever home-- I am hopeful the perfect family is out there. Here is a photo and video album from Allie and Poppy's foster mom and dad. Click on the link. They are doing so well and we are hopeful that the perfect forever home is out there. ***UPDATE DECEMBER 2023*** Allie and Poppy are finally in the Chicago area and safe in foster care. They truly are a bonded pair of sisters and are doing great in foster care. We are looking for a loving family of adults only so help them continue to learn about unconditional love. They are very sweet once they feel safe and are often found cuddling on the couch with their foster dad. As both were recently diagnosed with tick borne disease, treatment is going well. It's just a nightmare in Mississippi with ticks being around all year long. At least we know and we are always transparent with all our adopters if this is a health concern. Our girls have been through so much to get here, we hope we can find them the most perfect loving home. Allie and Abby are a bonded pair of sisters. Abby aka Poppy is in good health and was the best companion to little Allie who needed major surgery to save her life. This is all documented in their Facebook album. Their mom and 2 brothers have moved to Illinois, and we are hopeful we can find a loving family in the Chicago area that can continue to help Allie with her moistened food regimen now that her surgery is over. The girls are best buddies and love to snuggle and cuddle together. They have lived a sheltered life on a Mississippi farm so it might take them a little time to adjust to suburban living- the city would be too much for them. The perfect home will have a family with older kids and perhaps another dog they can build confidence with. The perfect home will also have a safe traditionally fenced in yard- no invisible fences. August 2021: Allie, Artie, Albert and Abby are 6 month old Super Mutts that are in need of foster or Foster to Adopt homes in the Chicago area. Their mom is a Mississippi mixed breed that suffered neglect and will need heartworm treatment. Her 4 surviving pups are doing well. Story
Good day, my name is Allie. I'm a crazy cool Yellow Labrador Retriever puppy! I have a decent amount of energy, crate and potty trained and very food motivated. Though I don't like sharing my food with others, please keep us separated at meal time! I have an ear for listening and would love to learn new things like tricks, commands, and what I can do to be the best doggy ever! No kitties for me, however, I couldn't learn to like kitties ;( But I love people, I am very sweet and I am very ready for adoption!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Meet Witz! Witz and his siblings were abandoned alongside their momma and had a rough start. But, after being taken in by caring fosters things improved greatly for them! Witz is the lovebug of his family and loves to follow his sibling Rako. Loving and friendly like his mother, Witz will make you feel like you're his best friend! He makes a great companion dog. Witz and his siblings show potential for being good farm dog as they show unique traits of their Labrador Retriever breed, though they are a mix of things as well. Adopt, don't shop! Witz and his siblings are not bonded but would be great if adopted together! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $500 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
June 1, 2025: Everett, as it turns out, is 58% German Shorthaired Pointer, and 42% Vizsla from DNA testing. The transformation in Everett's body and demeanor in a little over 5 weeks has been amazing. I can't thank the wonderful folks at Tail Gate For Dogs in Elmhurst for all their care-- especially making sure he gets his twice a day antibiotics and mid day supplements. Just look at the change in his face from his original photos. He is still a bit thin, but he is getting a lot of play time in. His coat condition is better-- but he still has a bit of dander. His energy level has increased exponentially due to the treatment for his Lyme disease and no doubt, his heart is much stronger too. We still need to do his neuter and dental, and we will be fundraising for that. I wanted to wait at least 2 months to really help his body heal. We are looking for a foster to adopt home in the Chicago area and I am going to say an adult home only-- no small kids and definitely with a family familiar with the GSP or Vizsla breeds. He seems to play well with females although he and Elvis seem to be friends now. Interested folks can submit an application at www.helpibr.org Click here for Everett's Facebook Album April 2025: Welcome handsome Everett to IBR! We are a little stumped at what might be in his mix-- perhaps German Shorthaired Pointer, or Vizsla and possibly Doberman with the tan highlights around his face and legs. He was found as a stray in the Rockford area and he was emaciated. He is still very thin and his coat shows the signs of being malnourished. He also has some old bite wounds around his face. He is a very sweet dog, was play bowing with most of the dogs in my yard. Best guess is he is 5 or older at the condition of his teeth and once he has gained enough weight we will consider a neuter and a dental. The next step in his care is getting his blood work to check his overall health and to look for underlying tick borne diseases. We are looking for a loving foster or foster to adopt home in the Chicago area (with a safe fenced in yard) to help him recover. If you are interested in helping, our application is at www.helpibr.org If you would like to help with his medical and food expenses we have PayPal at www.illinoisbirddogrescue.org VENMO @illinoisbirddogrescue and ZELLE with info@illinoisbirddogrescue.org If you would like to help, please click HERE to submit a foster to adopt home application.
