Say hello to Henry! Affectionately known to our staff as Henry Honey Bun, this cutie is super sweet and eager to find his furever home. Henry loves to be around people. He is friendly and playful with our staff, but Henry can be a little dog selective. He would need to meet with any potential doggy sibling to try to ensure they are a good match for each other. Henry would do well in a home with no small animals. He is a strong pup who would love to have a yard to run and play in! He is SO smart and would thrive with a handler who is able to continue his training. Please help him find the home he deserves! Henry's Story:Wright-Way Rescue's Lifetime Commitment ~ Henry! He found his way back to us when his previous adopters realized they could not provide him with the time and home they felt he deserved. He's still looking for that family to call his own!He is:* Known as "Henry-Honeybun by our staff, for his sweet disposition!* Great in either doggy play-groups- or with doggy-siblings that are calm and large in size like him!* Highly trainable and eager to learn more* Good with his leash manners, he's a good boy* A happy and friendly pup who loves people! Some of Henry's cutest traits are; His silly, goofy smile and how he loves attention!------------------------------------------------THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN SAVING A LIFE!Volunteers and staff are excited to assist you in the adoption process! Story
Leia was adopted from a shelter and is probably just over a year old. She is fantastic with other dogs, loves to play. She loves all people and particularly enjoys snuggling with you on the couch. She learned to walk on a leash really well and is very easy going while out and about. She does not bark much, but will follow the lead of other dogs if they are barking. Leia is crate trained and does fantastic during the work day. She is house broken. She really enjoys her toys, but does sometimes chew whatever is left around on the floor for her to find. Leia would do well in another home with a dog to take the lead.

TOBY Available for adoption FAST FACTSMale, Labrador Retriever / Basset Hound Mix, 51lbs, 1,5 years oldSweet, Loving, ShyLow / Medium EnergySlow to warm up to menDog FriendlyKids UnknownCats UnknownPotty TrainedCrate Trained Hi everyone, I’m Toby. I was found as a stray in rural Missouri and dropped off at the animal control facility.  When no one claimed me, and my time was running out, I was taken in by a local woman who partners with CARE. I was soon on my way to Skokie, where I was placed in a wonderful foster home.  I’d never before experienced such kindness and affection, and my true gentle, loving, and trusting personality has started to emerge.  But I’m still scared of new people and situations and need the help of patient adult/adult couple to become the confident canine companion I was always meant to be. The first thing I want to share is that my favorite activity will be sticking close by your side and doing whatever you’re doing.  Whether it’s household chores, assisting you in the kitchen (I’m an excellent taste-tester), watching TV, or anything else, you’ll always have a loyal buddy to keep you company.  And while I’m very low-key around the house, I do like to run around outside.  Chasing squirrels and birds and fetching balls—so much fun!  I also enjoy going on walks (I have good leash manners) and playing with other friendly dogs we meet along the way (and ignoring those who bark at me).  I’m proud to report I’m almost there when it comes to potty training.  Now that I’m on a regular schedule, I can make it through the night without be crated, waiting to do my business until morning.  Speaking of crates, I’ll go in but really hate it, barking nonstop until I’m freed.  Since I’m such a good boy and wouldn’t think of chewing on anything that isn’t mine, I hope you’ll agree a crate isn’t necessary. I’m crossing my paws (see photo) that my bio inspires you to fill out an adoption application right away and schedule a visit.  Please overlook my initial shyness and give me the opportunity to get to know you and become your new best friend! I have been neutered and microchipped and have had a full veterinary checkup and vaccines. My adoption fee is $325. For more information or if you would like to meet me, please fill out an adoption survey at carenorthshore.org/dog-adoption-survey Love & licks,TobyMarch 26, 2024, 7:40 pm

MR. ROGERS Available for Adoption or Foster FAST FACTSLabrador Retriever/Hound mix, Male, 2 years old, 43 lbsFriendly, Playful, AffectionateMedium energyPeople friendlyKid friendlyDog friendlyCats OKPotty TrainedCrate Trained Hello, I’m Mr. Rogers, and I was found wandering the streets in suburban Austin, Texas. After living in a foster home (with children) for 3 weeks, I was transported to Skokie to find my forever person/family. Given my name, you may be thinking I’m a laid-back couch potato whose theme song is “It’s a Wonderful Day in the Neighborhood.” But the Beach Boys’ song “Fun, Fun, Fun” truly captures my personality, as I’m very much a sweet, silly, and playful puppy who’s always ready for action. I adore spending time with the CARE staff and volunteers and am super affectionate. I jump up for hugs and crowd in close for pets and tummy rubs. I also like rough-housing with my buddy Ken, 2 other friendly pooches at the shelter. As for walks, while I enjoy snooping around, I’m easily distracted and will stop and bark for no apparent reason. But I’m working on this and other aspects of my training. For example, I’m learning how to focus my attention and already know some basic commands. I hope you’ll continue to teach me new things. Since I’m very treat-motivated, I catch on quickly. Finally, I’m potty trained, and I tolerate my crate, although I get sad when left alone for extended periods.  So that’s my story, and I sure hope it’s made you want to get to know me better. If the answer is yes, please fill out an adoption application ASAP. My tail is already wagging in anticipation of meeting you! I have been neutered and have been microchipped along with a full veterinary checkup and vaccines. My adoption fee is $325. For more information or if you would like to meet me, please fill out an adoption survey at carenorthshore.org/dog-adoption-survey. Love and Licks  Mr. RodgersMarch 26, 2024, 7:40 pm

Story
Mason is a 2 year old Lab mix who was found abandoned in western Illinois. He ended up in a county pound and was rescued before he would have been euthanized. He is a really nice dog! Sits when you tell him to. Good with other dogs and people. Not cat tested yet. Quiet in his crate. A bit too thin right now, needs a family to fatten him up! Would make a good family pet!

Bright and energetic, Waylon is always ready for an adventure! Although he could benefit from some basic training (manners and leash etiquette), he is very attentive and eager to learn new things! This handsome pup is also very social and affectionate; he finds a friend or three everywhere he goes! Waylon would thrive with an owner who is active and has an interest in training.
