***NEW PHOTOS AND VIDEO-- ***Click here for Allie and Poppy's Facebook Album The girls continue to do well in their foster home and are now enjoying daily walks. They really are so sweet and cuddily. Now they even sleep in bed with their foster mom and dad. July 2024: Happy 3 year birthday girls. We never thought it would be this long to find them a forever home, but I have some new insights into what the girls are all about having baby sat them for a week while their wonderful foster parents were on vacation. As I have a houseful of happy dogs, it did take Poppy a bit longer to feel safe. Allie was happy to meet new friends right away. I do think Poppy is a little protective over her little sister. It took the girls a few hours to feel safe with me but Poppy started trusting me a little sooner than Allie. FOOD was very helpful for us becoming friends and if we find an adopter for our bonded sisters, it won't take long for them to trust if yummy cheese and treats are part of the process. I was also happily surprised how the girls figured out our routine of going in and out and feeling safe in a cage. I didn't have any problems soaking down Allie's kibble and I also added some thawed raw food which she loved and which she was able to eat. These girls would be great candidates for a Farmer's Dog food home-- although I really liked giving them both some yummy, healthful raw. After 2 days the girls were comfortable with all my dogs that's when I started taking photos. They were raised with a lot of dogs in Mississippi- but they started getting attacked by the resident pack and that's when we had to move them north. Around day 5 or 6, both girls really felt comfortable with their new friends and went in and out with no issues. At that time I gave them more freedom to hang out with us which made Allie especially happy so that she could go in the toy box. Both girls are affectionate when they are not afraid. Their foster mom and dad have done a great job with cuddles on the couch and taking them on dog walks too. When Allie is happy, she will nibble on your fingers and Poppy LOVES her head rubbed. Poppy also enjoyed being brushed. Our bonded sisters have waited nearly 3 years to find a forever home-- I am hopeful the perfect family is out there. Here is a photo and video album from Allie and Poppy's foster mom and dad. Click on the link. They are doing so well and we are hopeful that the perfect forever home is out there. ***UPDATE DECEMBER 2023*** Allie and Poppy are finally in the Chicago area and safe in foster care. They truly are a bonded pair of sisters and are doing great in foster care. We are looking for a loving family of adults only so help them continue to learn about unconditional love. They are very sweet once they feel safe and are often found cuddling on the couch with their foster dad. As both were recently diagnosed with tick borne disease, treatment is going well. It's just a nightmare in Mississippi with ticks being around all year long. At least we know and we are always transparent with all our adopters if this is a health concern. Our girls have been through so much to get here, we hope we can find them the most perfect loving home. Allie and Abby are a bonded pair of sisters. Abby aka Poppy is in good health and was the best companion to little Allie who needed major surgery to save her life. This is all documented in their Facebook album. Their mom and 2 brothers have moved to Illinois, and we are hopeful we can find a loving family in the Chicago area that can continue to help Allie with her moistened food regimen now that her surgery is over. The girls are best buddies and love to snuggle and cuddle together. They have lived a sheltered life on a Mississippi farm so it might take them a little time to adjust to suburban living- the city would be too much for them. The perfect home will have a family with older kids and perhaps another dog they can build confidence with. The perfect home will also have a safe traditionally fenced in yard- no invisible fences. August 2021: Allie, Artie, Albert and Abby are 6 month old Super Mutts that are in need of foster or Foster to Adopt homes in the Chicago area. Their mom is a Mississippi mixed breed that suffered neglect and will need heartworm treatment. Her 4 surviving pups are doing well. Story
Meet Nancie!?This sweet young Lab mix is ready to steal your heart and be your next cuddle buddy (she calls little spoon)!Nancie is a total lovebug who wants nothing more than to be by your side—whether that’s curling up on the couch or watching TV together in bed. She’s crate trained and sleeps through most of the night, though she may need a quick potty break once or twice (puppy life!). Nancie is also potty trained and doing great with leash walks. She’s a playful girl who gets the zoomies in the backyard and loves a good game of fetch. Tennis balls, squeaky toys, and chew bones are her absolute favorites. Nancie enjoys doggy playdates and would benefit from having a calm, confident dog in the home to help balance her energy and continue teaching her the ropes. She’s made incredible progress in a short time and just needs continued training, encouragement, and lots of love to keep growing into the amazing dog she’s meant to be.If you`re looking for a loyal shadow, a snuggle partner, and a happy, goofy companion, Nancie might just be your perfect match. Fill out a no-obligation application today to find out! Adoption fee is $515 and includes:deworming, microchipping, 3 sets of puppy shots, rabies and neuter/spay when old enough. Story
Hi there! I’m known as Baby Girl, and I’m here to tell you that I’m ready to be someone’s verybest friend. I’m around 2 years old and my foster family thinks I might be a lab/beagle mix. I’mfull of love, and happiest when I’m snuggled up next to my people. I’m what you might call aprofessional cuddler—I’ll happily curl up beside you during a movie night or just chill at yourfeet while you work or read. I'm easygoing and housebroken, which means I already know howto be a good roommate!I really enjoy going for walks (it’s one of my favorite parts of the day!) and I get along with otherdogs. I am on the heavy side right now, but I’m totally game to slim down a bit with some regularstrolls and playtime. I already feel pretty great, but I know I’ll be even more agile and spunkyonce I shed a few pounds. The important part is, I’m healthy, happy, and full of tail wags. One of the things that makes me special is how excited I get when my people come home.Whether you’ve been gone five hours or five minutes, I’ll be there with wiggles and joy, ready tolove you like crazy. I’m gentle, loyal, and always up for some quiet time or a bit of fun. If you’relooking for a sweet companion to share your days—and your couch—I just might be yourperfect match. Come meet me and see for yourself!Adoption fee is $360Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and`(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash, Zelle, or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***

Story
Hi there! I`m Everglade, you have probably seen my name or my picture around here before. That`s because I have been waiting for my family for months! I joined my foster home with my 6 litter mates, at 4 weeks old in December! Now here I am, the last one waiting. Not sure why, apparently I`m a good puppy. Whatever that means. As long as you don`t leave any shoes/socks laying around for me, I`m really not a trouble maker.I`m quite shy at outings, sometimes you`ll find me snoozing in the corner. But at home, I`m a different dog. I love everyone, playing, and exploring. I`m in a foster home with plenty of other dogs and toddlers. So I`m good with both! I don`t have cat experience but doubtful that I wouldn`t be friends with one.I love a good snuggle session on the couch. I sleep in bed with my foster mom and sleep through the night. Apparently she says I`m a pillow stealer. I`m basically potty trained as long as I`m let out frequently. I`m great on a leash and getting more confident about walks. Car rides are fun too! Everyone always says they love my light chocolate dipped ears. I`m about 35ish lbs now, and probably will be 50-60 full grown. The adoption fee is $515 which includes deworming, microchipping, 3 sets of puppy shots, rabies and neuter when old enough. After his/her neuter, you will get a $55 refund.Email: puppies@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash, Zelle, or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***

Story
Meet Gabbie – Your New Best Friend in the Making!Gabbie is a 45 lb lab mix with a heart as big as her puppy-dog eyes! After a brave start to life—surviving near a busy highway until rescuers finally won her trust—this sweet girl is now ready for a forever home filled with love, patience, and lots of snuggles. She’s fantastic with both dogs and cats, potty trained, and doing well with crate training too. Gabbie is still a pup at heart, so she has playful spurts followed by peaceful chew-toy sessions. She lives for belly rubs and being the center of your attention! Like any young pup, she’s still learning not to chew on shoes and random things, so supervision is key for now. She walks well on a leash but would benefit from some basic training to help her shine even brighter.Gabbie would make a wonderful family dog—she’s friendly, affectionate, and eager to bond with her people. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s already come a long way, Gabbie just might be the one to steal your heart. Please fill out a no obligation application today!
