Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **If you are interested in being considered for this dog, please be sure to complete an application directly on our website - not through a 3rd party service.* Espresso is not just a Lab/ Aussie/ hound mix; she's a resilient, one-and-a-half-year-old miracle who turned her tale of adversity into a story of hope. This lovely lady had a rough start in life, as she was found tied to a tree, left to fend for herself. This sweet girl's journey took an unexpected turn when a kind soul rescued her and discovered that she was not alone—Espresso was pregnant. She was taken in, brought to rescue and given a safe spot to have her babies.  Since then, Espresso has been on a journey of healing and rediscovery, learning to trust people and embrace the love and care she deserves. Despite facing such hardship, Espresso's spirit has not been broken; instead, she's emerged as a shining example of resilience. Espresso is a beautiful 45 lb Lab / Aussie / hound mix. (Foster DNA TESTED). Espresso is dog-selective, and seems to enjoy the company of male dogs more than females.  She has not been tested with cats.  She shines brightest in the company of humans, displaying a heartwarming affection once she's had the chance to warm up to her people and realize they are not there to hurt her, but to give her love and affection.  Espresso has  proven to be good with kids in her foster home, as long as they are respectful towards her requirement to warm up first. Espresso has been fed separately in her foster home as well, as she does tend to guard her food, another effect of having been left to fend for herself for God knows how long.  We feel this girl would do best in a home with a yard so please no apartments or condos.   As you consider bringing this wonderful Lab / Aussie /hound mix into your home, be prepared to be patient and understanding, offering Espresso the time and space she needs to fully blossom into the loving, affectionate companion she's destined to become. If you're ready to open your heart and home to Espresso, please reach out to us and be a part of her journey to a brighter, happier future. Together, let's make Espresso's second chance at a forever home the warm and loving experience she deserves Espresso’s adoption fee is $400 (Includes microchip, spay at one of our contracted vets, and age appropriate vaccines) *HWMAR presents the information in these bios based on our foster observations and any information presented to us regarding prior living conditions, breed specifications. Story
Meet Jan, the adorable one-year-old retriever mix who is currently waiting for her forever home at our shelter. Jan is a sweet and affectionate pup who loves snuggling with her favorite humans. However, she is currently experiencing fear and anxiety when it comes to the outside world. Given her timid nature, Jan would thrive in a home environment where she can feel safe and secure. She would particularly benefit from the companionship of a confident and calm dog or a fenced-in backyard where she can explore and play without feeling overwhelmed. Jan is incredibly motivated by food, which makes her an excellent candidate for training. With the right guidance and positive reinforcement, she has the potential to become a well-behaved and obedient companion. Whether it's basic commands or more advanced tricks, Jan is eager to learn and please her new family. At the shelter, Jan loves nothing more than tearing up stuffies and having energizing zoomies sessions with her sister Fay. These playful moments bring out her youthful spirit and showcase her zest for life. With the right playmate, Jan will undoubtedly bring lots of joy and entertainment to her new home. If you're looking for a loving and playful addition to your family, Jan could be the perfect match. Her snuggling abilities, along with her potential for training and love for play, make her an exceptional dog waiting for the right person or family to give her the love and stability she deserves. Come meet Jan today and see if she steals your heart! Socialization, training (including house training), and exercise are just a few of the things that she will look to you for. Chewing, teething, and learning what is Okay and not Okay to put in her mouth are all part of the puppy experience. But most of all, be prepared for all of the LOVE, puppy kisses, and joy she will bring into your life. If you are up for the challenge and the fun, stop in and meet her in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Millie, the sweet 7-year-old Labrador Mix with a heart full of love and resilience. Millie's journey includes overcoming parvo as a puppy, and while her recovery required quarantine and limited socialization, she has emerged as a wonderful companion. Millie's sweet nature shines through in her love for walks, showcasing her active and adventurous side. She is not just sweet but also well-behaved, as she is potty trained and knows her basic cues. Due to her unique past, Millie is slow to warm up to people and other dogs. She didn't find doggy daycare to be her preferred environment, and she thrives when given space to be herself. Millie would do best as the only pet in the home and would prefer a quiet environment with no small or young children. While Millie may have some anxiety when left alone in the crate, her foster has reported her excellent grasp of basic training and potty training. If you're ready to provide a patient and understanding home for Millie, consider welcoming her into your family. With love and support, Millie has the potential to be a loyal and cherished companion, bringing joy and resilience into your life. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. I hope to meet you soon!
