Story
Adoption Fee $200Leo has a tough story that unfortunately we will never have access to every chapter to. He is a 4-5 year old Cane Corso mix. We think. He was in Wichita on the euthanasia list for heartworms. He received treatment last spring and is heartworm NEGATIVE!! He was found as a stray last February and his owner did not reclaim him. Leo has exhibited a fair amount of fear reactivity. He bonds hard with the right person but he needs a routine. Change can be upsetting for anyone but it seems to hit a sensitive guy like this harder than usual. He needs to know what to expect. Leo NEEDS to be able to trust that you know better than he does. If you're uncertain, he is too. Leo is big on the communication scale. He is extremely expressive with his body language, eyes, ears, face, noises. He's giving us a lot of hints that people who hold things up in his direction are scary. People that corner him are very scary. I can't say I blame him obviously but it's been a long road to get to know him and gather information. Leo is looking for a specific stubborn, strong willed, kind, understanding person with no kids or animals. He has been indifferent towards many animals but within the home he is very protective of his things. He loves car rides, couch lounging and to sun bathe in the backyard. I know this type of home is a STRONG reach so we need YOUR HELP!!! Share far and wide please, please! K911foundation.com/adopt  April 25, 2024, 6:34 pm

Story
Adoption fee $200Hank (previously Atlas) was adopted as a puppy and returned at 8 months old because he wasn’t able to get the exercise he needed living in an apartment with a busy parent. He is dog friendly. He initially barks at new people but warms right up and asks for pets within moments. He’s a great young guy looking for a family who can give him a little more exercise and lots of love!  Get to know this sweet, playful boy: [] Hank is a smart boy who is eager to learn! [] Hank does well in the car, but if you can’t take him with you, he’ll wait at home in his kennel. But he sure does love an adventure! [] Hank could be an only dog OR would enjoy a dog sibling who can communicate when they’re done playing. He's even great at dog parks! [] Hank is gentle with stuffie toys and loves a good chew toy. He’s great at entertaining himself! [] Hank is a snuggle bug, whether that be right beside you or at your feet. [&#226&#152&#128&#239&#184&#143] Hank loves going on walks (he does pretty good on a leash, and responds well to redirection!) and playing in the backyard. [] Hank is about 75 lbs with long legs, and a lean, muscular build. He has the cutest brindle pattern on his legs, a white chest with black spots, a shiny, silky black coat, and the cutest golden eyes. He’s such a handsome boy!   To set up a meet and greet please fill out the application at www.k911foundation.com/adopt *Hank does not get along with cats*April 25, 2024, 6:34 pm

Story
Adoption fee $200Rusty is a 3 year old mixed breed dog from a shelter. He is good with other dogs and great with kids. He would do best with a 6 foot fence where he can play ball with his people. He is a medium-high energy dog who would love an active family, or at least another dog to play with. He very much dislikes the kennel and would do best in a home that doesn't require one after a settling period.  To apply for a meet and greet please fill out the adoption form at www.k911foundation.com/adoptApril 25, 2024, 6:34 pm

Story
Eddie is a chill, relaxed boy. He will lay down and take a nap while his foster people are watching tv, but he definitely loves to be involved in whatever you're doing! He's VERY treat motivated! He loves to chase grasshoppers. He hasn't caught any yet, but he's so happy trying. Other than the treat oriented toys, he doesn't seem interested in toys. Eddie is a bit nervous whenever encountering something new but warms up very quickly. He is scared of loud noises. He loves to go on walks. He's only had one accident and that was in the car during his freedom ride. I think he may have been super nervous. Otherwise, he's kept his kennel clean at night and has no accidents when out and about in the house. Eddie is a very sweet boy. While at the vet, he saw other dogs from about 20ish feet away and just seemed interested in them. He didn't lunge or bark at them. He also saw a cat while inside and was the same, just seemed really interested. He hasn't been introduced to my dog, so I'm not yet sure how he does in direct contact. He settles down very well in the kennel at night or whenever we have to leave during the day. I do put a couple treats into the kennel to remind him it's a good/safe place, and he goes right in. The vet thought he was maybe a shepherd/lab mix. He weighed in at 57.4 pounds. Eddie definitely loves his breakfast and dinner! He eats a bit quickly, so I think he would benefit from a slow feeder bowl. He is such a snuggler! Any pets and love he can get from people is his motivation. He did well letting me brush him. Just happily sat patiently loving all the attention.

Story
Meet Edison! Edison was euth listed with no notice in a shelter down in Texas due to his age, but luckily one of our rescue partners snagged him at the last second and he came to us. He loves car rides, sunbathing, and playing outside. He prefers to hang out on his own most days and is more of a distant guy than a lap dog, but we've been working hard to shower him with love and bring his silly side out. Edison has been described as a "cat"at times, he likes his own space and wants to do his own thing. He is very low maintenance. He loves sunbathing and being outside. He found a home for a while, but was ultimately returned by his adopter because he was being aggressive anytime he was put into a kennel. As we've learned, Edison does not do good with kennels and really struggles with any change at all. When we move him between facilities, he reverts for a while and becomes a different dog. But once he settles in and remembers that he is safe and we love him so much, he returns to being sweet silly Edison. He doesn't like other dogs, so would do best as an only pup. Please consider opening your heart and home to this sweet senior boy.

Story
Meet Duke! Duke came to us all the way from a kill shelter in Florida, where he was euth-listed due to his age and blindness. After making the long trip, he has settled in well at the little red barn where he is proving to be quite the sweetheart. Duke loves to walk around the barn and absolutely LOVES his toys. He carries them everywhere and will play for hours. Due to the fact that he's blind and loves toys, we think maybe a home with older kids would be best just because he does sometimes accidentally nip a hand when he's trying to grab his toy. Same with kisses, sometimes he accidentally misses and throws a little teeth in the mix but he is all sweetness with all people. Despite being blind, he gets around really well and doesn't let it stop him from being a great dog! So far, we think Duke might do best as an only-pet. The other dogs spook him and he does much better on his own.

Story
Meet Benny! This sweet boy came to us after another rescue closed down and left their 100+ animals stacked in cages to fend for themselves. Benny is a sweet boy that hasn't had a chance to be loved by a family before. He loves to cuddle, give kisses, go on walks, and take naps. He is such a sweet and gentle guy that just wants to be loved. He is good with other dogs and allegedly good with cats too per his previous rescue!

Story
CHARACTERISTICS Loving, Playful, Active, Anxious Danny is great with other dogs and cats, but is slow to trust new people. He has spent his entire life in rescue and needs a patient family to show him what it's life to feel loved and safe Furever. Danny will do best in a quieter home where he can also have a kennel, which is his safe space. He loves to play with the other dogs here, so a dog friend would be a plus. He has done well with both large and small playgroups with dogs of every size and age. Danny is decent on a leash, and minds well. He was recently transferred to us from another rescue but has been with his foster since 1/5/2020. Please consider opening your heart and home to this sweet boy.
