Pet Location: Wayside’s Canine Behavior Center – I`d love to show off all the cool things I’ve learned at Wayside! Please arrive at the shelter before 4pm on our open adoption days to meet me! My Friends at Wayside say: - I am enrolled in LIFT University. This is a program for dogs to build confidence in new situations and work on managing energy. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session. - I am a graduate of Waifs with Wisdom. In this program, I learned basic commands and leash walking skills. - I was house-trained and crate-trained in my foster home.- I successfully lived around cats and farm animals in my foster home. - I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. Please visit our website for additional information. My home needs are: - I need a home with kids 6 years old and older.- No apartments or shared living spaces for me, please. - A fenced yard is a must for me! I need a secure area to run around and release my energy.- I must go to a home that already has another dog to show me the ropes. - I feel more comfortable around new people when I have a doggie friend to build my confidence. Wayside requires you to bring your dog with you when you come to meet me. Special Request from Star: For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar. For your convenience, we sell them in our retail store, Whiskers and Wags. Check out my super cool new video! Scroll through my pictures to see it.Hi there, I’m Star! I’m affectionate, silly, playful, and so much fun! I might be just a little cautious and shy until I get to know you, but once you’re the person who I trust and feel safe with, I will love you deeply with everything I’ve got. I’ll be your constant companion and loyal friend. I’ve been through a lot of change and instability in my life, but I try my best not to let that get me down. Once we’re family, I hope that you’ll wonder what you ever did without me in your life. Yep, I’m that special. And I can’t wait to be your dog. That’s all I’ve ever wanted…to belong and to be loved. I’m an adorable, 2-year-old, 49-pound Black Lab mix, with expressive ears, gentle eyes, the sweetest smile, and a lovely, delightful personality. I’m already housebroken and crate trained, and I even know how to use a dog door. How about that? I came to Wayside when my previous owner could no longer take care of me

Story
Pet Location: Wayside Waifs Campus My Friends at Wayside say: - I have a lot of energy and need an active adopter.- I`m a big fan of all kinds of toys!My home needs are: - I must meet other dogs in the home before adoption to ensure that we can be buddies.Hiya, I’m Risotto!!I’m a 1-year-old Lab mix with a one-of-a-kind coat that turns heads everywhere I go. People say my markings look just like camouflage, and honestly? I think it suits me. I’m an explorer at heart, always ready to blend into the trails, sniff out new paths, and take in every sight, sound, and smell around me.I’m a high-energy, adventurous boy who would thrive with an active adopter; someone who loves getting outside as much as I do. Hiking? Yes. Long walks? Absolutely. Playtime in the yard? My favorite. I’m the type of dog who’s happiest when I’m moving, learning, and getting to discover all the fun the world has to offer. While I care about my people, I’m also pretty independent. I don’t need someone hovering over me all day. Give me a toy…actually, give me all the toys, and I can keep myself busy for hours. I love toys so much that I’ll happily toss them around, chew on them, and make up my own little games. Self-entertainment is my specialty!I also enjoy making new dog friends, but I’m a thoughtful guy! I just prefer to meet other pups first to make sure we’re a good match before we head home together. Once we click, I’m a playful and fun companion. If you’re looking for a spirited adventure buddy with a stunning coat, a fearless heart, and a love for toys that knows no bounds, I might just be the perfect fit. Let’s hit the trails, explore new places, and start our next journey together! Meet me soon, okay? Love, Risotto

My Friends at Wayside say: - During my time at Wayside, I have enjoyed being around other dogs.- I have a lot of energy and need an active adopter!- I will make a good companion in a variety of homes.Hi, I`m Griffin,I was adopted as a puppy but recently came back as my owner could no longer care for me. I`m just shy of two years old and weigh in at 55 pounds. I am really struggling to be back in the shelter.I have lived with men, women, and kids age 0-3. I did well with all, but was too energetic for the toddler. My owners described me as friendly, high energy, excited, and loving. I have never lived with other animals. I don`t seem to know any commands. Can you teach me?My favorite things are snuggling, exploring, and free treats. I am a social and fun guy with other dogs! I was a bit unsure of my environment when I first came in and spent my time coexisting. After a few minutes I would warm up to offer some light bounces with the other dogs. I tend to do better with dogs outside. As my stress increases, I need a place to get my energy out. I would do best with other polite dogs that can tolerate my controlling behavior. I would have a great running or hiking buddy. Are you looking for company as you run? I would love to join you. Will you stop by and say hi?Love, Griffin

Story
Willow is extremely sweet. She loves being pet and cuddled. She is great for someone looking for a companion and she is very clingy. However, she does not do well with cats at all, and she can be aggressive around a lot of new people. She has snapped at a few people as she is a rescue and has some fear agression.
