Story
Hi, my name is Drogo! I am an 8-year-old rescue who loves to play fetch. I am a gentle giant, but am quite clumsy, so would not do well in a house with littles. They may accidentally get stepped on! I am house trained but, due to my background, do not like kennels so will need to go to a family who is okay letting me sleep/be home alone without one. I do not have any behavioral issues but can be quite timid, especially with men and new people. I would do best with a family who is active, has a backyard, and doesn't mind me loving you from afar (I don't particularly enjoy cuddling). My mom would also prefer to do a meet before adopting to make sure we are a good match. I can't wait to meet you!

Story
Kal is a goofy chocolate lab who does great with other dogs and cats, loves people (skittish around men, but warms up very fast), and is trained on all basic commands. He does well in or out of a kennels and is a hunting dog with an obsession for ducks, bumpers and tennis balls. He’s a bit socially awkward at times and has some anxiety over small things but nothing to worry about. He’s a very loyal dog with a lot of respect for his owners and a lot of energy at times. I am rehoming him because of my new job. I took an unexpected position with a lot of travel and will not be able to give him the time that he deserves. He’s a great dog and he deserves a great owner that can give him everything that he needs.

Story
I was adopted back in April of 2014 from the Safe Harbor Program (Bonner Springs, KS). I was born January 31, 2014 and I'm 10 years old. I am energetic even at my age! If I had it my way, I would be outside running around in the sun all day long! However, given my owner's schedule and lifestyle, I have been an indoor dog for the majority of my life. I am very social and curious about my surroundings, and I love attention! One unique aspect about me is that I don't bark that much compared to other doggies! I will whimper if I need some attention, I'm hungry or if I need to go outside. I am very well-mannered. However, I do get excited around new people and sometimes jump up for kisses and a closer sniff! I do know "sit," "stay," and "come here" commands, and I respond well to finger snaps and pointing as well once I have warmed up to you. Energetic, Fun, and Loving are a few words that describe me.

Story
We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in fostering or adoption from us, please fill lout our online application at kcpaws.petfinder.com. Whiskey's adoption fee will be $150. She must go to a home with at least one other dog.  Whiskey lived on a rural farm in Oklahoma as a completely feral dog. When she arrived she had no idea what it meant to be touched by a human. She had never been on a leash, never even eaten from a bowl. She was terrified of everything around her and did not know what it meant to trust anyone. For weeks, our staff would sit in her run just to get her used to human company, she was to scared to take treats from us and would wait to eat until the night time when everyone was gone. We slowly began to introduce her to other dogs, which really helped her start to come out of her shell just enough to go outside and back in on her own. Whiskey’s rehabilitation has been nearly 4 years in the making. Slowly, she finally started to bond with a particular staff member. She enjoys quiet time and gentle pets and brushing. Whiskey still is not used to being on a leash. This will continue to take a lot of patience.  Whiskey is now in a wonderful foster home and has made a lot of improvement and is beginning to trust people. Her foster mom has been working on getting her used to leashes, she doesn't love it but is becoming more tolerant. She will likely never be a dog that enjoys going for walks but the goal is to have her be able to safely walk to and from the car for vet appointments and such. Because of this, she will definitely need a secure fenced in yard in her new home.  Whiskey has another dog in her foster home and they get along well, she's not really much of a player but she co-exists with another dog just fine. We are requiring that she go to a home with another dog she is much more comfortable with other canines around to show her everything is okay. She often likes to spend time just laying in her bed. She is a den dog who likes to have a safe space.  Whiskey is food motivated and will warm up to new things with the help of her favorite treats. She squeals with joy at new foods, and especially loves a little bit of ice cream. Overall, Whiskey has had a long journey to learning how to be a house pet, and she is still learning everyday. She is a quiet, shy girl who has never barked or growled in almost two years in her foster home. We're hoping to find Whiskey a family that will give her lots of time, love, and TLC.July 24, 2024, 12:33 pm

Goldfish does well with other dogs and plays with her best friend Mack every day! She is very active and would love a home that will take her for long walks, play fetch, and she would even be a good candidate for doggy daycare! Goldfish does have a few things to learn about being a house dog, but she is excited and ready to embark on her journey of being the best family pet she can be!  July 24, 2024, 12:33 pm

Story
This dog is a courtesy listing for one of our rescue partners Allen county animal rescue facility. They are a rural animal control shelter near Iola KS. Many dogs are brought to their facility after being found as strays, dumped, surrendered, or brought in by the city. However, because they are in such a rural town, they have a very small pool of adopters and have a hard time finding homes for the dogs in the shelter. Our promise as their rescue partner is that should someone apply through us, we will handle any transportation needed to get the dog to their forever home, we will assist with home visits, dog intros and anything needed to help get these dogs out of the shelter and into loving homes. Please fill out our online dog adoption application if you are interested in adopting this pet. Meet Hutch! This Handsome guy is looking for his forever home! Hutch is a playful and super affectionate guy, he plays well with other dogs but does have a rough play style and would likely do best living with a female dog rather than another male.  Hutch has been waiting for a pretty long time at animal control and will need patience as he decompresses and gets used to living in a home environment.  Hutch does need a home without cats. Hutch is an active dog and would love to go to a home where he will get plenty of playtime!July 24, 2024, 12:33 pm

Story
Meet Tug! He's the most adorable pup who couldn't be more happy to be here. Tug is looking for a happy family that will match his energy! This boy is a major goofball. His smiles are contagious and are sure to bring laughter to any room! Tug loves toys so much, makes friends with every human and animal, (cats are still an unknown), and he has an adventurous side when exploring in the yard but he is equally happy hanging out in the house. He is a great snuggler and loves a good nap. His party trick is that he sleeps through the night and has to be shaken awake in the morning from his wonderful dreams of treats and tennis balls. He is the typical pup that's still working on perfecting his potty training skills but he is about 90% there but he is making improvements and how to not play with his teeth but he's shown to be a smart one and is picking up on obedience skills fast. Tug will come with age-appropriate vaccines, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250. Apply to adopt Tug today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org. Tug's approximate birthdate is 11/13/23.

Story
This is Autumn. She is a 1 year old Golden Retriever who weighs 71 pounds. She is vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Her owner was deported and there is no family that can take her. Autumn is potty trained, crate, trained, and walks good on a leash. She is good with the other dogs but a meet and greet would be required if there are other dogs in the home. She is a dominant personality so the right doggy siblings will be important. She would probably be best with older children because she still really is a puppy and could knock younger children down just playing in the yard. A fenced yard would be helpful. She thinks cats are toys to be chased. If you think Autumn might make your family complete, please submit an application. Submit an application and we will be in touch. Story
We got Tucker in Waco this past Thanksgiving weekend and is almost ten months old. He was neutered about a month ago but has lots of energy and likes to play outside. He is a great dog that could benefit from some love and attention. He has Chesapeake Bay and German Shorthair in his genes and with the right training could be a good bird dog. Tucker is strong and could use additional training for obedience and walks in the park. He is still a puppy so likes to chew on things on occasion. He gets along with dogs but would thrive in an environment without other pets. Contact Kevin for additional information on this beautiful dog.
