Hi… I’m Max.I’m a gentle-hearted guy who’s still learning that the world isn’t as scary as it sometimes feels. I’m the kind of dog who watches first, thinks second, and maybe comes over third—especially in new places. I try my best, but new faces, new rooms, and new routines take me a little time to understand. When I’m nervous, I might hesitate, step back, or hide for a moment… but if you speak softly and give me space, I start to melt. Once I know you’re safe, I’ll slowly lean in, sit by your side, and even nudge my head under your arm to ask for more affection. I may look unsure on the outside, but inside I’m hoping for someone kind and patient who sees the sweet dog trying his best.I’m still working on feeling confident out in the world—sometimes I pull or get a little panicked on walks—but I listen well and redirect easily. I’ve met calm dogs and gentle people and done just fine once I’ve had a moment to settle. I warm up to men too, I just need them to go slow and let me approach on my terms. What I want most is a quiet, understanding home where I can decompress, take things one step at a time, and bond at my own pace. Give me patience, reassurance, and a little time, and I’ll give you all the love I’ve been holding onto. I really do want to trust—I just need the right person to help me get there.

Story
Meet Rocky, a big, goofy husky-type guy with a whole lot of personality, an even bigger love for treats, and a heart that’s deeply devoted to his grandmother, Hazel. Rocky greets the world with enthusiasm, happily getting his leash on and heading out for walks with loose, wiggly confidence. For a dog his size, he only pulls hard when something especially exciting catches his eye—other dogs, for example—but he’s easy to redirect and eager to engage when food is involved. He knows his sit, takes treats gently, and responds really well to positive reinforcement, making him a fun and rewarding partner for continued training. Rocky is social and friendly, greeting strangers with a soft body and happy tail wags. His solid, people-friendly temperament isn’t just a joy for those who meet him—it’s also a source of comfort and confidence for Hazel, his grandmother, who helped raise him. Hazel relies on Rocky’s steady presence and outgoing nature to feel safe and secure in the world. Their bond is truly special, and for her sake, Rocky needs to stay by her side. These two have grown up together, leaned on one another, and they are happiest and most confident when they’re together. Rocky seems to enjoy the company of other dogs, especially with proper introductions and a bit of guidance when his excitement bubbles over. True to his husky roots, he can be vocal, impatient, and a little jumpy. While he’s tolerant of handling, he’s not a big snuggler and prefers to keep moving—unless, of course, he’s checking in on Hazel. He has lived with kids before and could do so again, though children should be sturdy since Rocky might accidentally bowl them over in his excitement. He has never lived with cats, so his response is unknown; dog-savvy cats and slow introductions would be needed to set everyone up for success. Rocky will need some help with housetraining and managing marking, along with a home that’s set up to prevent counter surfing and mischief. With consistency, structure, and plenty of mental and physical outlets, he’s likely to thrive. Rocky would do best with an active adopter who appreciates a talkative, playful dog—and who understands that adopting Rocky also means honoring the beautiful bond he shares with his grandmother, Hazel. She needs him, he needs her, and together they’re looking for a home where they can continue their journey side by side.

Story
Hi there, my name is Buddy. I’m a senior Golden Retriever with a heart as golden as my fur. I’ve had a full life already, and now I’m hoping for a soft place to land where I can spend my golden years feeling safe, loved, and part of a family again. For most of my life, I was an indoor dog and knew all about house manners. The last couple of years were a little different for me—I lived outside, and that’s made me a bit confused about where I’m supposed to potty now. I’m trying my best, but I’ll need a patient adopter who can help me remember the ropes and gently guide me as I relearn indoor life. I’ve recently been neutered, which should help with some of my marking habits too. I’m a very sweet, affectionate guy who truly enjoys people. I love attention, pets, and being close—sometimes I’ll just sit right at your feet to soak it all in. Treats are one of my greatest joys (I never say no to snacks!), and I know a couple of basic cues like sit and paw. I’ve lived happily with kids and another dog before, and I’m friendly with other dogs when properly introduced. Cats, though, aren’t really my thing. Because I’ve spent so much time outdoors, I’m looking for a home with a fully fenced backyard. That outdoor space will help me feel comfortable and confident as I transition back into being an indoor dog again. Having a yard will make learning and adjusting much easier for me. I can be a little unsure in new situations at first, but once I know I’m safe, my gentle, loving personality shines through. I’m not asking for perfection—just understanding, patience, and kindness. In return, I’ll give you loyalty, warmth, and the kind of companionship only a senior dog can offer. If you’re looking for a sweet soul who’s ready for his second chance, apply for me today!

Story
Hello… my name is Hazel. I’m a grandma (a young one at 5 1/2 years old), and this is my story: I might not be the first one to run up and say hello. New places and new people can feel pretty big to me, and sometimes I need a moment to watch, to breathe, and to decide that everything is okay. I promise I’m trying. I really do want to be brave. I just do my best thinking when the world slows down a little. There is one thing in this world that makes everything feel safer right away, and that’s my grandson, Rocky. Rocky is my heart. He’s my courage when mine runs low. When he’s beside me, I remember who I am. My body softens, my tail starts to wag, and suddenly I feel like I can say hello to the world again. I follow his lead because he’s good at this stuff, better than I am. If he trusts you, I know I can too. He keeps an eye on me, checks in to make sure I’m okay, and I lean on him more than I can ever explain. I’ve taken care of him, and now he takes care of me. When Rocky isn’t with me, I can be shy. I might hang back or freeze up if I feel rushed. I need gentle hands, patience, and people who listen when I say “I’m not ready yet.” But if you give me that time, I will come closer. I’ll start with a sniff, then a chin scratch, and before you know it I’ll be leaning in for more, soaking up the love I’ve been wanting to give and receive all along. With Rocky by my side, though? Oh, I’m a different girl. I’ll happily greet strangers, accept pets, and even get a little silly. I’ve lived with kids before and, as long as my boy is nearby, I seem to love everyone. Other friendly dogs are okay too, but Rocky is my favorite place to be. We enjoy walking together, exploring at our own pace, and just existing side by side. That’s enough for us. I don’t ask for much. A calm, understanding home. People who see that being sensitive doesn’t mean being broken. A family who will keep me with my grandson, because we are a package deal, stitched together by trust and love. Someone who understands that I might take a little time to settle, but who will be rewarded with a loyal, gentle heart once I do. If you open your home to us, you’re not just adopting two dogs. You’re giving a grandma the peace of knowing her grandson is safe, and a grandson the chance to keep being the brave little light that guides his grandma through the world. Also I`d like to mention I did test Lyme positive, that I am currently being treated for. An IDEXX 4DX test was performed in shelter usi
