Story
Dozer is the happiest ray of sunshine you will meet. He is very loyal and loves to follow ‘his human’ around like a shadow, whoever that is. He has separation anxiety so he doesn’t react well when put in a kennel/cage or behind a baby gate. He tends to bark non-stop and/or rub the top of his nose raw. He is very well behaved and potty trained so leaving him loose in your home while you are out should be no issue. For the years he has been with us there have been 1-3 other dogs in the home so he will have no problem with another dog. He hasn't had much exposure to cats so it's unknown if he would do well with one in the home. He can be very timid/scared when first meeting new people (especially men). After a proper introduction though they will be his new favorite person. He absolutely loves neck scratches and playing fetch with frisbees/rings. I would have loved to spend the rest of his life with him but due to my health, finances, and living situation I cannot.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, please let me introduce myself, my name is Sarah and I am a Lab/Jack Russell Terrier. I am house trained and crate trained, and love to go on walks and sniff around a securely fenced backyard.  Did I tell you that its me that pick all the tomatoes from the plants in the yard ? I am also spayed and have had all of my shots. Sarah was abused by her first human family, so she finds it hard to trust new people and has fear aggression. It will take time to gain Sarah's trust and multiple meetings.  She needs an owner that can give her guidance (and plenty of treats) in situations when she feels insecure. After meeting a trainer Sarah have improved a lot and she responds to her special verbal command.  A training class would be a great adventure for Sarah and her new family. She will excel and perform as an A-student, she likes to learn and is eager to please. Building a relationship with Sarah will be time well spent, once she has overcome her insecurity and fear she is a GREAT active, loyal, and loving dog.  Please come and meet me,  I need is a chance to find my permanent home. Older children only pleas e.    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is Finn, one of our newest arrivals at the Mikey & Me kennels in Chelsea for Happy Days Rescue. Finn is a Lab/Mountain Cur mix, he’s 2 years old, and he weighs 41#. He’s a very sweet, quiet, and friendly dog. When Finn first arrived, he was afraid of meeting new people, and he would cower to protect himself while we leashed him up for his walks. But over the last three months, Finn has worked very hard to regain his trust in people and he has been doing quite well with our 40+ person volunteer team. Finn has never snapped at anyone or done anything wrong, even when he was scared. We took Finn to the Vet for all of his vaccinations, a physical exam, heart worm test, and he has been neutered. Finn is at a healthy weight for his size and he’s been eating well since his arrival. He loves riding in the car now and he becomes excited when he encounters another friendly dog. Because of Finn’s fear of change, I am looking for someone who would like to start bonding with him out here and building his trust with the hope of adopting him once he’s feeling more confident and prepared to make the transition. We’ve seen other dogs come in just as afraid as he is and, based on those experiences, it’s just a matter of time until he will come around in a new home. We will commit to investing the time to bring Finn to your home for short visits until he feels confident enough to stay. If you would like to meet Finn with the hope of adopting him, please message me through the Mikey & Me Community FB page. Or you can submit an adoption application under Finn’s name at happydaysdogandcatrescue.org and, once approved, I will reach out to you to coordinate a meet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Goofy! This sweet boy was abandoned and left outside to fend for himself after the family home burned down and they moved on.  Goofy came into care injured; the injury believed to be sustained from the house fire.  He is receiving vet care and lots of TLC now.  Goofy did test positive for heartworm disease and has started on a treatment regimen.   Treatment is a long process and Goofy cannot be neutered until his heartworm treatment is completed. Goofy will need a quiet environment where he can rest and heal.  Do you have room in your heart and home for this senior pup?     Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Marsha is a beautiful chocolate brown Labrador Retriever mix that is on the smaller side. She is 5 months old and about 25 lbs. She is a shy dog with new people and in new situations. She will need to build confidence. Once comfortable in a home she is just your typical playful puppy. Marsha has not been a troublesome dog while in our care but trouble is coming up when she is teething. Then extra attention may be needed to avoid any chewing on furniture or household items. Most days are spent playing with other dogs in the home, her best friend is an energetic hound and together the zoom around the yard. Squeaky toys and stuffed Kongs are another favorite that gets Marsha's attention. However, nothing can compete with FOOD, three hearty meals per day keeps hunger away from this girl. At the end of the day Marsha sleeps peacefully in her crate, she dreams the night away in a soft dog bed. This is a very pleasant puppy that will become a jofor her new family. A training class will help teach her manners and will help the owners to bond with her. Marsha is probably going to do best in a calm home, she is shy and insecure. Slow introductions will make it easier for her. HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter.&#226&#128&#139 Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hi there! My name was originally Kimberly, but I go by Angel now! I’m about 10 1/2 years old, and I’m probably a Lab/ Hound Mix. I’m very sweet and I love to get pets & attention — whenever you come home after a long day, just know I’ll be so happy and excited to see you! True to my Hound instincts, one of my favorite things to do is to sniff anything and everything out there! I like going on walks (about a mile), and you’ll usually find me with my nose to the ground the whole time! I love to explore the world! They tell me I’m extremely “food-motivated” and that I’d stop literally any behavior if I hear a treat bag open, and...that’s true, but can you blame me? Treats are great! I do love all kinds of food but especially my own food, and I tend to resource-guard, so I like having my own designated space. I’m not really interested in chewing on things (toys or otherwise), except for treats! I’d love to be the only dog in my forever home, but I can get along with other dogs, and have been around small kids for most of my life (and done great with them!). I do really well in a crate for bedtime overnight or while you’re out of the house (and I like hanging out there during the day sometimes too!), it’s my safe space. ** Angel has completed her heartworm treatment and is doing really well! She’s back up to full energy and wants to explore the world! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. April 19, 2024, 6:04 pm
