Story
Hi… I’m Max.I’m a gentle-hearted guy who’s still learning that the world isn’t as scary as it sometimes feels. I’m the kind of dog who watches first, thinks second, and maybe comes over third—especially in new places. I try my best, but new faces, new rooms, and new routines take me a little time to understand. When I’m nervous, I might hesitate, step back, or hide for a moment… but if you speak softly and give me space, I start to melt. Once I know you’re safe, I’ll slowly lean in, sit by your side, and even nudge my head under your arm to ask for more affection. I may look unsure on the outside, but inside I’m hoping for someone kind and patient who sees the sweet dog trying his best.I’m still working on feeling confident out in the world—sometimes I pull or get a little panicked on walks—but I listen well and redirect easily. I’ve met calm dogs and gentle people and done just fine once I’ve had a moment to settle. I warm up to men too, I just need them to go slow and let me approach on my terms. What I want most is a quiet, understanding home where I can decompress, take things one step at a time, and bond at my own pace. Give me patience, reassurance, and a little time, and I’ll give you all the love I’ve been holding onto. I really do want to trust—I just need the right person to help me get there.

Story
Hi! I’m Max — professional Good Boy, snack enthusiast, and very large senior gentleman.I’m a 10-year-old Lab-ish mix, but don’t let my age (or my photos ??) fool you — I am MUCH bigger in real life. Like, “surprise, I take up most of the couch” bigger. You’ve been warned.I spent my whole life with one family who loved me very much. Sadly, just like me, they aged too, and they weren’t able to care for me anymore. So here I am, starting a fresh new chapter in my golden years. Don’t worry though — my tail is still wagging and my spirit is still very much alive.I am a foodie through and through. Treats? Yes. Snacks? Absolutely. Meals? My favorite hobby. I will work very hard for food and proudly show you my best manners (and maybe a sit or two) in exchange for goodies.I`d prefer to be the only dog in the home since I am getting old and a bit cranky with them. I generally ignore them and pretend that the don`t exist unless they are pushy, then I become a grumpy old man! I have lived with another dog before (look for Willow on the site) and we got along really well. But she`s a senior like me and pretty chill herself. So if you have the exact right fit, I could consider it.Despite being a super senior, I’ve got LOTS of spunk left. I’m still medium energy, love going for long walkies, and enjoy a good play session. After that? I transform into a world-class couch potato. Balance is important. What I’m looking for:A somewhat active human who enjoys lots of walksA soft, orthopedic bed (my joints say thank you)Someone who appreciates a sweet, goofy, bubbly old guyBonus points if you’re generous with treatsI’m kind, affectionate, and ready to be your big, lovable shadow. If you’ve been waiting for a giant-hearted senior who still knows how to have fun, I might just be your Max ????

Story
Roxy is a soft-hearted, wiggly girl who wants connection more than anything, even when her nerves get in the way. In the shelter she shows just how much she loves people by leaning in for affection, climbing gently into laps for chest rubs, and offering full-body wiggles once she feels safe. She knows sit and down, enjoys being petted all over, and is happiest when she’s getting calm, reassuring attention from her person.New situations and greetings can feel overwhelming for Roxy at first. She can be unsure in busy or echoing spaces like hallways and may pause or need encouragement to move forward. When meeting new people she’s often excited but conflicted, sometimes jumping up, showing appeasement signals, or having a little nervous pee. Keeping greetings low key, ideally outside, and allowing her to approach at her own pace helps her settle quickly. Once she warms up, her affectionate and people-focused nature really shines.Roxy is more motivated by attention than food right now, though she does enjoy treats once she’s comfortable, especially freeze-dried beef liver. Toys and chew items aren’t a big priority for her yet. She walks on leash with some initial uncertainty but responds well to gentle redirection and human guidance, and she becomes more confident as she goes. With other dogs, Roxy is neutral and polite, showing more interest in the people nearby than in canine companions. She could live with a calm, respectful dog, though she doesn’t need one to be happy. Her behaviour with cats is unknown, but with slow, thoughtful introductions to a dog-savvy cat she may do well. She can live with kids who are sturdy and able to help keep greetings calm, as she is very wiggly and likes to jump when excited.Roxy will thrive in a predictable, supportive home that understands she’s a sensitive soul still building confidence. A quieter living setup with easy outdoor access is ideal, as she can be startled by people appearing suddenly in tight indoor spaces. With patience, gentle guidance, and confidence-building routines, this nervous-but-loving girl is ready to blossom into a deeply devoted companion

Story
Hi there… my name is Willow, and I’m a 10-year-old Lab lady with a heart full of love and a nose that’s always on the lookout for snacks. I may be a little gray around the edges, but don’t let that fool you — I still have plenty of joy to share. When I meet new people, I sometimes bark at first. It’s just my way of saying, “Oh! You surprised me!” Give me a moment, and I’ll happily come say hello. I truly love people and enjoy making new friends once I know everything is okay. Now let’s talk about my favorite subject: food. I am a huge foodie. Treats, meals, snacks — I appreciate them all and will gladly remind you if it’s time to eat. I also love being outside. A nice yard to wander and run in would be a dream, but I’d be just as happy with people who enjoy taking me on walks and little outdoor adventures. Fresh air makes my tail wag.I get along well with other dogs, especially calm ones who don’t bring too much chaos. I like my peace these days. I’ve barked at cats before, but I’ve never actually met one — so if there’s a cat in the home, I’d do best with one who knows dogs and doesn’t mind a bit of curiosity.I’m a sweet old soul looking for a calm, respectful home where I can settle in, feel safe, and enjoy my golden years. If you’re patient, kind, and ready to give me love and stability, I promise I’ll return it with loyalty, gentle companionship, and lots of appreciation — especially if snacks are involved.Love,Your future best friend
