Story
Skylar came to us after 3 months in a crowded California shelter. Black dogs so often get overlooked. Skylar came to the shelter with a litter of puppies and they all found homes leaving momma Skylar alone. What really impressed us about Skylar was how joyful she remained despite a long stint in the shelter. Nothing dimmed her light - she is truly a happy dog! - Approximately 3 years old and 60 pounds but needs to lose about 3 to 5 pounds - We think she is likely a black Labrador Retriever mix but it's only our best guess. She has a soft, thicker coat similar to a Lab's coat. - LOVES all people: women, men, children of all ages, strangers, even your mother in law ;) - Exuberant, wiggly, smiling, active girl who will benefit from a family willing to exercise her and engage with her. She does settle in the home. - Very playful with other dogs. Takes correction well from other dogs and will go belly up submissive if corrected. - Was fostered with cats for a day and did well with them. She was curious but also lost interest in them and was able to go do her own thing. - Enjoys her toys and chews - Crate trained and will go in her crate and sleep quietly through the night - Doing excellent with potty habits and no accidents in foster so far when kept on a frequent schedule of going out to potty. Skylar is so deserving of a family to love and to give her love in return. She really wants to be a best friend to someone and connect with people. Skylar is vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, dewormed heartworm tested negative and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee also includes a free wellness exam at one of our partner veterinary clinics in Milwaukie, Oregon City, Portland or Tualatin. $300 adoption fee Fostered in SE Portland, Oregon APPLY TO ADOPT SKYLAR ON OUR WEBSITE: WWW.AGAVEDOGS.ORG

Story
HI - I'M JOHNNY, a 10-year-old pit/lab mix waiting for a foster or forever home. I'm super cute with my red & white coloring and my speckled ears! My ideal adopter is a single person who wants a companion, a pal for hanging out, walks, hikes, watching TV, car rides, napping. I love to play fetch, and I listen to basic commands. I tend to bond to one person who will be my soulmate, so couples may not be the best for me because I don't want to share the person I bond with and love. I love scratches and affection! I get bored if left alone too long, so best not to leave me out in the backyard for hours. I'm still quite agile and have been known to jump over a fence in my younger days. I'm not all that trustworthy around other dogs, especially male dogs, so it's best if I'm the only dog in the home. I'm still in good health and I'm basically looking for my forever companion to go for walks or hikes or simply watch TV and snuggle. I weigh about 70 lbs. Can you foster or adopt me? Please email me for an application.

Story
MEET HOLT! Holt is a 2-year-old Black Lab mix in need of a foster or forever home. He is a good, happy boy who is full of life, and still a puppy at heart. He is dog friendly, people friendly and affectionate! He is loyal, gentle and smart! While he loves companionship, he also can be independent and dignified. Holt needs an active person or people as he's quite athletic and will benefit from regular exercise, like walks, hikes or runs. He pulls a bit on a leash but is easily corrected. He is a sweet boy, and weighs about 60-65 lbs. Please email for an application.

Story
WOOF! I'M HANK! I'm a 2-1/2-year-old Labrador Retriever-Pit mix in need of a foster or forever home. I'm a smart, mellow, loyal and loving dog who has been overlooked for far too long! I can be a bit shy when I first meet you, and when I go to my new home, will need some time to adjust with a patient person or people. Unexpected noises etc. scare me a bit, so I would do best in a quiet environment where I can feel secure, with a single person, a couple or a family with older kids. I'm also independent and not super needy, and I love to go for walks. I am strong so could use a strong owner. I do get along with other dogs (see video with my brother Holt, who also needs a home), but would probably do best as an only dog or with a submissive dog, possibly a female. I weigh about 60 lbs. Can you foster or adopt me? Please email for an application.
