Story
Meet Rango! Rango is a sweet boy full of love and loyalty. He is a great puppy who has been soaking up his training! He is potty trained and is learning his manners too. He is fostering with a dog trainer (win-win!) in Salem, Oregon. He is doing so well, taking it all in, and he would make a great sidekick for someone looking for a smart dog with a positive and pleasant attitude. He is incredibly shiny, soft, and has a big heart and a wonderful endearing attitude. Rango likes other dogs, might not be great with cats or teeny tiny dogs (they are a little too exciting for him), and he loves people too. RANGO is around 7 months old, 28 lbs, neutered, and vaccinated. We are thinking he may grow to be about 45 lbs. If you are interested in this great little dude, reach out to colleen@startrescue.org or 804-651-6442 (cell).

Story
Labrador Retriever Mix 1 year old Male 42 pounds Kids · 10+ Dogs · Yes Cats · No Toby or Not Toby, that is the question—and the answer is Toby, of course! I mean, look at me! This smile can light up a room. My heart is as soft and shiny as this stunning coat of fur I wear upon my back. I’ll share my love with other dogs, but no cats, please. I will even enjoy the company of respectful older children 10+ who understand how to be very patient and understanding. Truth is, I’ll take all the love and affection I can get, but I want to feel safe! I’m still a pup and although I have had lots of training, like crate training and housetraining basic commands I want to find a family who will give me the time, guidance and structure I need to blossom into the best boy I can be. So, there you have it, all the answers you could need. It’s Toby of course! My adoption fee is $240 and includes neuter, microchip & registration, reduced-cost training class, free veterinary exam, 1 month pet health insurance, leash/collar, toy & treat packet, food sample.

Story
If Huey was a person he would be the captain of the track team who volunteers on the weekends at the local hospital. He is athletic and personable, a great balance, and it doesn’t hurt that he is handsome. The reality though is he is a dog, with legs made for adventure and love to share. We estimate Huey to be around a 1.5-years-old and we suspect he may be a Labrador mix but of course because he is a rescue both of those details cannot be guaranteed. He is a great mid-size boy weighing in at 56 lbs. You surely noticed in his photos but this boy has a set of ears on him that are so expressive and ensure he doesn’t miss anything. Huey is so fortunate and has been in a loving foster home while he waits for his adoption day. This is wonderful for him and you! He gets to master all the skills needed to be the best boy and you get a dog that is home-life ready. This also gives us a front row seat to who he is at home. When you get a puppy its a cross your fingers and hope you get a good one, you never get to know if their personality is going to be the dreamy fit you hope for. That is the beauty of choosing a rescue though, you practically get a spec sheet and know if the quirks are the ones you’re okay with. With that, Huey has quirks that are common in rescue dogs and will be nothing short of just that -quirks. A confident loving person by his side, some basic structure and consistency is all any dog needs to succeed. Let’s start with all his goodness, Huey is incredibly smart, motivate, and responds well to being led with confidence. Honestly, I was impressed with how he sort of straightened up and came to life when his leash was handed to someone he is familiar with and approaches him with respect and expectation. This is a boy that thrives with boundaries! And thanks to his foster family, he does great in a crate, is house-trained, and knows how to settle indoors. My favorite detail his fosters shared about him was how much he enjoys following his people around, a bit ninja like, a quiet shadow. He doesn’t want to disturb you, just to be close to you. Now for the “tour” of Huey’s dream home- actually, it might be easier to tell you what is scratched off the list. Apartment life is not his favorite. If you watched his video, you know his love of running and playing in the backyard is too true and deep for him to ever live without a yard to let loose in. Also, apartment life means all potty breaks are on leash and he is still working on his leash skills in busy areas. Navigating hallways and sidewalks on leash multiple times a day is just not the Huey vibe. No fast-life or busy-cities for Huey. Huey has had several fosters, with different home lives and he has thrived in both despite how different they are. One was a busy family, 3 kids and the neighborhood hub for kids on the block. The other, a wonderful couple and 7 other dogs in the home, who he plays with well, shares toys, and fits right into the pack. Both of these environments would be considered “busy” but he was great! In the home with children, he built a beautiful friendship with the 8 year old, who said they were “best-friends” and all the kids praised him for being the funnest playmate with the best cuddlier. .The thing is, sometimes you can be good at something but not want that forever or always. This is where Huey is with kids, long-term living with kids is not for him. We joke that he is like the fun uncle- he will play all the games, share all the toys, roll in the grass, give 1000% to the fun- but he can do that because at the end of the visit they go home and so does he- the peaceful life. Same Huey! Same! Totally get it! Invite the kids over, Huey will be a hit, then watch him take the most glorious nap in his cozy, peaceful home. Huey currently lives with 7 other dogs, he shares toys like a dream and is a great playmate. The key to him being in a home with other dogs is best seen in how the fosters manage one small element of their schedule- meal time. A very common and understandable behavior he has shown is that he does not like other dogs to attempt to eat his food. Same Huey! Same! This behavior is called resource guarding- food being the resource- guarding being him giving a clear boundary to another dog about what he has. The simple way his foster avoids this ever being an issue in a house full of dogs is by feeding him, and the others, in their crates and not offering treats or table food to any of the dogs. If you have experience with this type of behavior you know, it is easy to manage and can just as easily be a non-issue. On the other side, a one-dog household eliminates the potential for tension over meal time. You know what works for you and if he is your one and only you won’t go without- he has plenty of personality and love to give. The biggest thing to know is we want to set him up for success in a calm, structured home with someone who gets him. If you are feeling like he may be the one for you but want some more info or feedback on whether your home is that place, be in touch, we are more than happy to discuss that, no guessing needed. This boy is smart, active, and has a thing for the great outdoors—whether it’s a mountain trail or a quick ride around town, Huey’s will be ready to tag along. Bonus- he rides well in the car, likes a good breeze, and won’t say no to a nap on the couch after any adventure, big or small. While he can be affectionate, he’s not overly needy. My favorite! Huey is why we rescue, the gratefulness, the loyalty, and the deepest love you could imagine comes with the bond you share with your rescue. Huey has a head start on being the best boy, all the potential and drive, with a lot of love to give. With his very-own forever person, y’all are headed into a really good life together. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We provide weekly socialization programs for our dogs through playgroups and group leash training classes available to all dogs in our adoption program, and Doggy Sleepover, Doggy Day Out, and Ambassador programs for our boarding dogs. There is a professional dog trainer on staff to provide support for our fosters and dogs, and an off-site dog trainer for dogs that need more extensive behavior modification. This helps us learn deeply about every dog, prepare them for adoption, and ultimately match them with loving families. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.) • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan • 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Meet Hank, the gentle giant who’s basically a four-legged teddy bear with a wagging tail and a heart full of love! 🐾 This handsome black Lab mix (we think!) is about 4 years old and a total sweetheart who adores people, pets, and snuggles of all kinds. Crouch down, and Hankaroo will trot right over for pets, belly rubs, and maybe even a little wiggle dance just to show his excitement. 💛 Watch this Hunk of Love's video here! https://youtu.be/aFppLCKf6R4?si=2PCxd18d_cK3NIBR Hank is the kind of dog who will always stick by your side—loyal to the core and ready to be your shadow on every adventure. Whether it’s a long walk in the park, a backyard game of fetch, or a weekend hike, Hank is happiest exploring the world with his favorite humans right by his side. He’s a big, goofy companion who loves to be part of the action, but he’ll also plop down beside you for a snuggle after a day full of fun. Loyal, loving, and endlessly playful, Hank is the ultimate adventure buddy who will make every moment brighter. Hank is a goofball with dogs—sometimes he plays the polite “big brother” and gently reminds his pup pals to give him space, and sometimes he’s a silly playmate running full tilt with a wagging tail. He’d do best with a calm or gentle female dog buddy who can keep up with his loveable antics. And cats? Hank-a-roo is totally cat-tolerant! He sniffed, explored, and even snuggled near Biggie the cat like a total gentleman. He’d be amazing with older kids who can handle his big, goofy energy and love him for all his playful, silly ways. Hank loves romping outdoors and exploring, but he’s also learning to enjoy leash walks, especially when accompanied by treats and a little encouragement. While he could adapt to an apartment if he gets plenty of exercise, he truly shines in a home with a yard to run, play, and soak up all the love. Hank-a-lanche, Big Hug Hank, or Hankaroo (take your pick!) is a giant goofball, a snuggle bug, and the sweetest companion you could ask for. He’s ready to bring wagging tails, laughter, and endless cuddles into his forever home—and maybe even a few “big brother” lessons for his new doggy friends. 🐶💛 Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Meet Cookie 🍪 — the wiggly, giggly, all-black sweetheart with a heart of gold and the softest smooshy face you’ll ever meet! Cookie is about a year and a half old, and we think she’s a pittie–lab mix, which basically means she’s equal parts silly clown, loyal best friend, and expert snuggler. From the second she hops out of her kennel, this girl is ready for fun! She’s always up for an adventure — tail wagging, tongue lolling, eyes full of sparkle — and she’s never met a human she didn’t instantly adore. She’s the definition of a people-lover. When Cookie meets someone new, she does a happy little dance that involves full-body wiggles, helicopter tail spins, and the occasional “boop” to your hand, asking for pets. She is always so thrilled to be getting love that she can hardly hold still — her whole body is like a wiggly noodle of happiness. Watch her Wiggles firsthand in her video! https://youtu.be/76cPYijHuX8?si=4Vf7_h0KDBsR1i3v And when it came time to meet a kiddo? Cookie absolutely nailed it! She instantly toned it down, stayed calm and gentle, and didn’t even try to jump. It’s like she just knew this tiny human needed extra softness. She took pets so sweetly and wagged her tail like she was saying, “You’re my new best friend!” She’d be such a sweet family dog — the kind who’s always there for backyard zoomies, couch snuggles, and endless love. Cookie loves other dogs too — she’s super playful, loves running around, and can have a great time with the right pup friend. She just needs a dog-savvy family who’s comfortable continuing to help her with her manners around other dogs and food. Cookie has made amazing progress already, but she’ll do best in a home where mealtimes are kept separate (she’d prefer to eat without sharing her bowl, thank you very much!). With a confident owner and some patience, she’s going to keep learning that she doesn’t have to worry about her snacks being stolen. She’s not a fan of cats — they’re just too tempting for her curious nature — but she’d absolutely thrive in a home full of people who love her as much as she’ll love them. Cookie’s perfect day? A fun walk, a playdate, a cozy nap, and lots of belly rubs in between. With her shiny black coat, big goofy grin, and wiggly “I love you!” energy, Cookie is pure happiness wrapped in fur. She’s the kind of dog who greets every day like it’s her birthday and every person like her long-lost best friend. If you’re looking for a joyful, affectionate, endlessly loving sidekick who will make every single day brighter — Cookie’s your girl. 🍪💖 Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Let me introduce you to Rosie, she is a playful girl with a love for laser-chasing, dog-playing by–your-side girl, who goes the most hilarious move when she is getting her beloved booty scratches. Rosie is fostered in a loving home which is so amazing because not only does she get to practice all her best house manners while she waits for you but we also get a front row seat to her quirks and cuteness. Rosie is estimated to be just about 2.5 years old, she weighs 40 lbs, and her breed? Well, we can’t guarantee breed given she is a rescue but on top of that- look at her. What do you see? Well we see Weimeraner, Short-Haired Pointer, Pittie… so in short, your guess is as good as ours. She is small and cute and rescued! Rosie has already learned so much, and with continued support, she’ll keep blooming. Take a look at her here then come back to read more- https://youtu.be/6lJoVtwkN04 In her foster home, Rosie settled in surprisingly fast. She follows her foster from room to room (full velcro mode), keeps a gentle eye on the household, and curls up to relax when the house is quiet. She’s house and crate trained, has great house-manners, and is eager to please in the home. Her foster shared: “She’s a little shy, but she adapts quickly. She knows sit, down, wait, and we’re working on paw. She’s so eager to learn.” She’s also playful in the sweetest ways - laser games, wrestles with familiar dog friends, and has the happiest bursts of excitement at home that really show her warm, goofy side. Outside the home you can see Rosie’s shyness a bit more clearly. Loud noises and busy environments can be a bit overwhelming to her. She isn’t the dog that is going to pull you to meet passing strangers or new dogs, it's just not what she is interested in while out on walks. It’s a big wide world and Rosie likes her quiet corner by your side. With you by her side she is easily guided, listens well and moves forward without issue. When her foster saw this in her it was easy for her to walk during calmer, quieter times and she was thanked with a confident walking partner. She would not thrive in a dense, busy city, but a home in a quieter suburban or residential area would be a great fit. Rosie currently lives with a 6-year-old Lab and an 11-year-old Chihuahua and did well once she was given time to relax and learn the routines of a new home. Once given that time, she played beautifully with dogs and gravitates towards easygoing, friendly male dogs who won’t overwhelm her with pushy, insistent play. She has previously lived with children ages 5–15 and did well, but because she is jumpy when excited she would be best with school-aged children (7+) who can understand that the best friendships take a little time and are willing to take it slow at first. Her ideal home is one that is simple, no bustling big city living, a home with a yard would be dreamy but it isnt necessary as long as she gets regular physical and mental excercise and time in the outdoors.
