Story
Luke and his sibling sister, Leia were found roaming a neighborhood, searching for shelter, food and water for 3 weeks before I saw them. Unfortunately, as so many strays in Houston go, neither one was fixed and she was in heat. Every male dog from the area found poor Leia, much to Luke's upset. I first saw them at 2:30 am across the street with a german shepard in a precarious situation. We left out food and water where we got notification of sightings and finally found them, exhausted and hungry. After we managed to catch them, all of the other dogs disappeared and both of them just ate and slept for days. He had war wounds and bites healing and she was exhausted. I had her vetted and scheduled for spay immediately, but Luke was not having his sister be gone from his sight and tried to escape over, under or thru the fence. Sooooo, they both got vaccines, spay/ neutered, hw tested, which was negative, microchipped, all without a plan. Anyone in rescue knows, you have to have a plan, but the universe had other plans. We made a doggie hotel in the garage, but now it is too hot and we foster most of our own dogs. They need a foster asap. They are currently in boarding and I had them test them to see if they could be separated. They are both good with other dogs, but seem to prefer the company of each other more than anything, which makes it difficult to home them both. They both still have puppy in them, so like to dig, chew on things, play hard, and then lay out in the sun. Luke has the pointiest ears but only one stands up most of the time. He is a sweetheart and just wants pets and belly rubs and rolling around. Leia is the leader of the gang. She is also a big sweetheart and loves belly rubs, laying on top of Luke's head or whatever else is available. They are both crate trained, although they prefer not being in them if there's a choice. they listen very well and learn very quick. And boy, they love to eat, which is how street dogs tend to be. Absolutely no food aggression when I feed them or move bowls though. They love their walks too! If they are separated, it would good for there to be another dog so the separation won't be as difficult, I would love for them to have a yard to play in and a home with a cool bed to lay on their back and dream of chasing butterflies with a full belly.
