Story
Meet Oliver or as we call him, Ollie! Ollie’s journey hasn’t been easy. When he was first rescued, he was nearly hairless and suffering from painful, mange ridden skin (see last photo). He had been on the euthanasia list at a municipal shelter. A volunteer and a foster fell in love with him, a rescue said yes, and hence started Ollie’s healing journey. Fast forward a few months, he is a handsome, happy, and full of life boy! Most of his fur has grown back beautifully, though he still has a bald patch around his neck and shoulders that may never fully regrow. But honestly, It just adds to his charm. His glow-up is truly something special. Ollie is one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet. His fosters call him their “golden child” because he’s just about perfect. Ollie is fantastic with every person he meets, including kids, and he absolutely adores other dogs. Ollie is both potty trained and kennel trained. He loves playing with other dogs, chewing on toys, going on walks, car rides, and just chilling. His foster family absolutely adores him, and watching him blossom has been nothing short of heartwarming. Ollie does need weekly baths to keep his skin healthy but they are quick and easy, and he is very cooperative. He is estimated to be around 6-7 years old and weighs about 55 lbs. If you think Ollie is your next best friend apply today: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DSTR/Dog Ollie is currently being fostered in Houston, Texas, but is available in many cities around the country. The adoption fee includes the cost of transport.

Lola has quickly become accustomed to being inside her new foster home. She loves rolling on her back in the backyard, playing tug-of-war with her new toys, and of course sleeping in her own bed for the first time. She`s learning plenty of new tricks as well as how to walk on a leash through the neighborhood. All of her neighbors adore her friendly and playful personality. She`s become the popular girl of the neighborhood. If you are interested in adopting please sent an email to Barcfoster@houstontx.gov today!

Story
Velma is an early riser with plenty of energy and a real passion for playing with other dogs and kids. She`s very food-motivated, which has helped her learn `sit` and `shake`, and she`s currently working on `go to bed` at night. She`ll try to beat you to the door and guilt-trip you into staying because she hates to see her people leave. She loves running around outside and chasing June bugs, and she`s an overall energetic girl with an occasional cuddly side. Velma adores cheese, pretzels, and pup cups. If you are interested in adopting please email BARCfoster@houstontx.gov today!

Story
If you would like more information about Millie or are interested in adopting her, please send an email to alyssan.wilson24@gmail.com Millie is such a wonderful, happy puppy! She is incredibly loving, affectionate, very smart, silly, and funny. She’s also a great swimmer, very energetic, and full of personality—the list could truly go on. Millie is a beautiful dog and I love her dearly; however, I have come to realize that we may not be the best fit lifestyle-wise. I found Millie one evening roaming around my condo parking lot when she was about four months old. This was about a month after the passing of my dog, Pico, so I may have been in a vulnerable emotional space at the time, but I felt it was my responsibility to help her find a safe home. The next morning I put up signs around my complex, checked for a microchip (she did not have one), and posted about her on the Nextdoor app. After a week with no one coming forward to claim her, I decided to bring her into my home. Over the past several months we have built a bond, and she has brought a lot of joy into my life. However, as much as I love her, I recognize that I may not be able to provide everything she needs to truly thrive. I live in a one-bedroom condo, and now that Millie has grown (currently around 40–50 pounds), it has become clear that she would do best in a home with more space to run and play—ideally with a yard (and even better if there’s a pool, since she loves to swim!). Millie would thrive with someone who has the time and flexibility to give her the attention, activity, and engagement she deserves—perhaps someone who works from home, has a flexible schedule, or simply leads a very active lifestyle. Making the decision to rehome Millie has been incredibly difficult, but I truly believe it is the right choice for her well-being. She deserves a home where she can have the space, time, and environment to live her happiest life. Writing this is heartbreaking, but sometimes the most loving decisions are also the hardest ones.
