Story
Hey there, I'm Orion! I'm a puppy with a zest for life. I'm playful, energetic, and a bit of a goofball. But don't let that fool you - I'm also incredibly smart and brave. I even battled Parvo and came out a victor! My journey to the shelter and into a foster home was quite an adventure. I was living a normal puppy life when I was suddenly imbued with superpowers. I could hear whispers from miles away, run faster than a speeding car, and leap over tall fences in a single bound! But, like all superheroes, I had to face my nemesis - Parvo. It was a tough battle, but with my indomitable spirit, I triumphed. After my victory, I found myself here, waiting for my next adventure. If you're looking for a companion who's full of energy, has a knack for fun, and a heart full of bravery, then I'm your guy! Let's start our adventure together! If you are interested in him, please send an email to SCP! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas. Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clear Lake Petco, 2410 Bay Area Boulevard. Since all our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule. If you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com so that the Dog Coordinator can let you know if the dog will be at the Saturday Adoption Event at Petco. If you just want to meet some great dogs looking for their forever home, please come visit with us on Saturday!January 22, 2026, 8:32 am

Story
Howdy!  I'm Ellie and I am SUCH a sweetheart. I was found dumped on a highway out in the country and was pretty darned scared until someone started feeding me and showed me that people can be nice.  I might have been mistreated in the past, but I love people now. My rescuers think I'm part lab and maybe part Dachshund (look at those ears! LOL).  I weigh about 30 pounds and am around two years old.  I'm as big as I'm going to get - a PERFECT size for a perfect girl.  I LOVE other dogs, cats, and kids - I would definitely love to have at least one playmate - dog or kiddo.  I am great in the car and on the leash (please take me for walks or rides) and every dog like me deserves a pup-accino even if you make 'em at home with Cool-Whip or ReadyWhip.  I am house trained, use a dog door, and will get in the crate very happily to sleep if you want me too.  I am also great around the house if you let me sleep without a crate inside.  PS, I make a wonderful bed buddy, TV watching pal on the couch AND I'm a great reading partner (you can read to yourself or to me). I could also EASILY be an emotional support dog since I am super chill. Well, that is, after I am let out of my crate if that is where I sleep (I get so excited to see you but I settle down very nicely if you ignore me for the first few minutes).  I am also very quiet.  The only time I seem to bark is when I know you have woken up and you haven't gotten ME up yet or if you sleep in too late and I gotta pee (I'll let you know so that I don't have any accidents).  I will be getting heartworm treatment on November 19th and will need to stay quiet (no long walks and minimal running/jumping) for a few weeks). That will be easy for me since I'm so chill.  But don't think I'm lazy because I LOVE to run and play with kids and other dogs so once I'm released you will have the best of all dog worlds.  My foster mom also says I'm one of those dogs who could go everywhere with you if you wanted (just never EVER leave me in a hot car).   If you are interested in me, please send an email to SCP! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $210 (or $270 for puppies). Story
Leo is going to be 7 in November of this year. He is a very sweet loving dog, he is somewhat active but definitely likes to relax and nap. Unfortunately over the last 5 years he has become more dog aggressive, he does fine with my other dog but they will very rarely get into it with each other. I have cats and he’s been fine with them other than when he eats. He hasn’t been around kids so I’m not sure how he would be with younger baby/toddlers but believe he’d be great with older kids. He’s up to date on his rabies shot
