Story
Meet Leeland!! This special guy was found as a stray in Houston, TX and brought to the shelter. Unfortunately, due to crowding he found himself on the euthanasia list. Luckily, he was pulled just in time, and now he wants to find himself a forever family. We think Leeland is around 4-5 years old and is about 72lbs. When I first met Leeland at his foster, he was so shy! He was backing away from me and hiding behind his foster. It was so sad to see. He warms up really quickly though and he's full of tail wags and puppy like playfulness. He's been staying in boarding for a couple weeks while his foster is away, and he's been so good with the staff and so brave! He loves to play with the other dogs, takes treats so gently, and is all around good boy. He's been waiting so long for a family to want him, we are so hopeful someone falls in love with Leeland. Leeland is looking for someone with patience and understanding that he takes time to warm up. He is available for meet and greets in Houston. If interested, info@theunderdogconnection.org

Story
Meet Brownie! He is a gorgeous chocolate boy. Look at those beautiful eyes! He weighs about 50 pounds. His records state he is 2 years old but we really think he may be closer to 6-7 years old. Brownie has been staying in a boarding facility and we were able to take over his search for a forever home. He is so cute in boarding, doing his happy dance when he sees you, and leaping into the air with all four paws off the ground. He is desperate for his own family though. Notes from when he was in a prior foster home: In his foster home, he's been a loving, energetic pup who loves playing fetch with his toys and squeaky balls. Brownie is smart and treat-driven, which makes him easily trainable. He has been staying in an incredible foster home where his foster dad spent a considerable amount of time training Brownie. Brownie loves to run and be active. If you like to run, jog, hike, and exercise, he'd likely be a great companion. We recommend an experienced adopter and a home with adults or adults and teenagers for Brownie. Brownie likes playing with other dogs and lived with several dogs at his foster home, but can tend to like his people, food, toys, and bones to himself, probably due to his heartbreaking history. Brownie has the saddest story: He was left in a backyard after his family moved! We aren't sure how someone could possibly leave him behind, but he got picked up by animal control and brought to a shelter. He was wearing his cute purple cape! Even worse, the shelter was full and euthanizes dogs for space. Luckily he was saved in the nick of time. Brownie is housebroken, crate trained, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. If you think Brownie would make a good addition to your family, apply for him at info@underdogconnection.org

Story
We adopted Pepper at an adoption event when she was 6 months old. She had been in care of a nice foster owner, who had rescued her from the shelter. She was still just a puppy, with big eyes, long legs, and cute paws. She is very friendly with other dogs and other people, and she gets excited when she knows you are getting ready to go on a walk with her. She also enjoys family time, and she loves to just sit next to you when you are eating, working, or just watching TV. She is house and crate trained, but she is perfectly comfortable being outdoor in the backyard and/or alone for longer periods of time. We will be moving overseas at the beginning of next year, and cannot accommodate adequate space for Pepper once we have moved. Therefore, we wanted to start the rehoming process well ahead of time to make sure we can find a good new family for Pepper! Pepper current weight is 65lbs, and she has reached her maximum size. Please reach out if you have other questions about Pepper!

Est DOB 10/10/2020 Current weight ~ 75 lbs Blind $350 adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, rabies and other vaccinations, heartworm test, deworming, and heartworm and flea preventatives while the dog is in our care. Murdock is such a sweet boy. Unfortunately he was dealt a lousy hand early in his life. Murdock is blind, and when his owner no longer wanted him, he threw him out on the street. Not only that, but he also told neighbors to shoot poor Murdock if he “bothered them”. Luckily, Murdock had an angel on his side. A neighbor reached out to our rescue and one of our volunteers/fosters went to scoop him right up! Murdock may be blind, but he doesn’t let that get him down. Once he maps out your house, he will get around so we’ll that you will forget he is blind! He LOVES going on walks around the neighborhood and at the park. He knows “follow” and is learning other useful cues for walks. Murdock is a huge cuddle bug. He loves to be pet and loved on. He loves other dogs, but can play rough, so that’s something to keep in mind! He also cannot eat with other dogs. However, after his meal, he enjoys going into the yard with them! He does have crate anxiety and cannot be crated. He also does not like small spaces. In his foster home, he is given free roam. He IS house trained and is trusted not to do bad dog things while his foster mommy/daddy are at work! Murdock will require a special home who understands his disabilities and will work with him!
