Story
Daysi is seven years old, spayed, approximately 65 pounds, up to date on vaccinations, micro-chipped, healthy and has a great deal of love to offer. She has the beautiful characteristics of a Labrador Retriever mix. Our dynamic Miss Daysi is a survivor. Her history includes living on the streets of Mexico. She was either born as a stray or abandoned by owners. For two years, she had to fend for herself and determine who and what was safe. Thankfully, a caring woman rescued Daysi five years ago from Mexico. Sadly, this adopter has passed away and this sweet girl is now looking for a dedicated household where she would be the only pet. She spent most of her life in a home with an elderly woman who had live-in nurses, with different people coming and going constantly. She’s truly developed some wonderful hostess skills. Daysi is WONDERFUL with people and does not bark at visitors. She is very comfortable with a lot of guests coming over and is polite and gentle. She is low key at home and does not ask for attention (great for someone working from home). Kids who are dog savvy tend to add joy to Daysi’s life. Children seven and older will gravitate towards her sweetness. It’s important that the children have dog experience, know how to approach a dog and be kind. She has no known experience with cats. Daysi LOVES to be outside. A securely fenced yard will be essential. She needs someone who can take her for leashed walks -- she can be reactive around other dogs so off-leash dog parks are not an option for her. She is usually easy to walk on the leash, but occasionally she pulls if she is set off by another dog. She needs someone who has the physical strength and patience to work with her. She is truly a joy to have in the house and anyone would be lucky to have this sweetheart join their family. Quality time with her humans, responsible leashed walks, being the only dog and the benefits of an experienced dog owner will be key to Daysi’s next loving home. There is no doubt about her natural desire to be a loving companion. If you are interested in Daysi, please copy/paste the link below into your internet browser to fill out our application: http://form.jotform.us/form/50488470409157 or email Ellen at ellen.second.chance@gmail.com for questions and additional info. Story
It’s been a long journey for our sweet Belle but she is now officially adoptable! Two year old Belle is a social & sweet girl who loves her people. She wants to be close at all times and loves to lean on you, it’s comforting to her and very heartwarming to her humans. Belle will follow her humans all over the house and when working in the yard. Belle likes to play and race around the yard but mainly she just wants to be with you. Belle was rescued from a kill shelter in California and is believed to have been hit by a car. She had bad wounds when brought in. They treated Belle for her injuries and she lived in a cone for 4 weeks. Belle’s wounds are still healing and she may have areas where her hair does not grow back. Despite all that she went through, she was still a happy and loving girl. She is so ready to be in her forever home and to feel safe. Her foster parents feel very privileged that they have been able to give Belle that temporary home. Belle gets along great with the foster’s dogs and children. She is calm and playful and great in the house. Belle is an amazing little girl and we will be an awesome new family member. Belle is micro-chipped, up to date on vaccines and spayed. To adopt Belle and set up a meet and greet, please contact Fay at fkrokower@msn.com.

Story
Mary was abandoned and run over by her prior owners who left her to die in the streets. Fortunately, our rescue group vet found her and secured her. She had minor injuries and she is now healthy and ready for her furever family. She is an energetic dog who likes to play and could make a great hiking/running buddy. With some training, she could even turn into an amazing emotional support dog. She gets along with most dogs. She is good with people.and young adults. Toddlers are not recommended, since she still can get eaisily startled with loud sounds. She is shy sometimes. But once she warms up to you, she is fantastic and will protect you and love you!

Story
Sweet Rosie is approx 5yrs old and weighs about 68lbs. According to dna, she is lab / German shepherd. This darling girl was used as a breeding machine, but those days are finally over! Now she just desperately wants her own person to walk, hike and cuddle with. And she’ll sleep peacefully on her own bed next to yours. Rosie gets along great with other dogs when outside but she does have a little jealous streak so she’d do best as an only dog. She is wonderful with people though, and would love to have a home that has plenty of time and affection to share. She does favor women. She does fine on a leash, although she’s a very easy going girl that would be happy just relaxing with her people or hanging out on her property. She was always a wanderer in her original home and can climb chain link so her fence must be 6ft wood. An electric fence would also work great for this darling. Because she is a bit insecure, kids must be over 14yrs old. Rosie would do best with a retired couple or work from home folks. If left alone, she MUST be crated (crate provided).

Story
SO SO sweet, gentle tempered Carlie needs her own, forever home - preferably one with children. She loves kids! Carlie is 65lbs, about 7yrs old and clearly a lab mix. She is very friendly with everyone, and so sweet!! She loves affection from any person around her. And when you’re not petting her, she’ll sit patiently at your side with her head on your lap. She gets along just fine with other animals, too, but does not need any in the home. She’s much more interested in having people to spend time with. She walks nicely on a leash, so long walks and hiking would be great. She will even walk by your side when off leash. Although she will stop to greet any children she sees. She’s happy to just lounge around, too. Carlie is house and crate trained. She is doggy door trained, too! In her current foster home, the fence is only 3ft tall and she does not go over it. So a short fenced yard would be ideal. She is truly a quiet, gentle gem of a girl and so deserves a living family of her own! She is spayed, microchipped, current with vaccines and had a recent blood test to ensure a clean bill of health.

Story
Darling Dixie would love to have a kitty of her own! She loves cats and one that will curl up and nap with her would be the best! She also loves people so lots of people to give affection to is also a must. Although she still needs training, Dixie is a very gentle tempered girl that is quick to learn new manners and commands. She is great with leash walking and riding in a car. Even though she’s 75lbs and barely 2yrs old, she is polite in the house and not destructive. When outside though, her Pyrenees traits come out and she will patrol the yard and bark alerts to other neighborhood dogs and people that walk by. So a more rural area would be best for Dixie. She is wonderful with other dogs but does not need another dog in the home. Dixie is fully crate trained and needs just a little more help with house training. A doggy door would be ideal. She must have a 6ft, securely fenced yard.

Needs experienced adopter,
Story
Adorable little Tucker is approx 4.5mo old and currently weighs 18lbs. He should be about 40lbs when full grown. He is a very active, silly puppy that would do best in an active home. He would excel at agility training or scent work and when he’s older, he’ll be a great hiking and jogging partner. He loves to spend lots of time running and playing with his foster siblings so another dog in the home would be ideal. He is learning his basic manners quickly because he is a very smart boy. An experienced dog owner that will continue with his training is a must. He’s wonderful with people so lots of social activities will also be best. Tucker is doing wonderful with his crate training and with just a little more help, he’ll be fully house trained, too. He’s great with kids but because he’s still learning not to jump with his greeting, kids must be over 10yrs old. He must have a 5ft or higher, securely fenced yard. Because of his young age, he should not be left alone for more than 4-5hr intervals. The adoption fee includes all 5 first year vaccines, deworming series, microchip and neuter surgery.
