Medical Hold due to Heartworm Treatment Medical costs to date: $1,766.93 Please help us with Camden's extraordinary medical costs by donating via PayPal: paypal.me/scottiekingdomrescue or you may use email address Rescue@scottiekingdom.com. All donations are acknowledged. 7-28-22: Camden has completed his 2nd and 3rd heartworm treatments. He now requires another 30+ days of confinement and will see the vet again in six weeks to see if he has been cleared of heartworms. Added updated photo. 3-9-22: Camden was neutered today and had a full dental. He lost 4 teeth due to gum disease and an abscess. He has tested heartworm positive, so he will have to go through treatment over the next 90+ days. He cannot be adopted during this time. We anticipate he will be available for adoption on 9-15-22. Little Camden is a Maltipoo who came to us after his owner had passed away. Camden found himself outside, being fed by the neighbors. When he wasn't seen for a few days, everyone assumed he had runoff. But in reality, Camden was "living" under the house, in the extreme cold that we have been having lately. He is currently at our groomer to remove the multitude of mats, some of which have grown together on his paws, which can be very painful. He will have to be seen by our vet, neutered, and possibly have a full dental cleaning, in addition to all of the usual blood tests and vaccinations we always do before adopting a dog to their new home. We believe Camden is 3-4 years of age. All dogs adopted by Scottie Kingdom Rescue, Inc. have had a full medical exam by one of our licensed Veterinarians, which includes testing (and treatment, if necessary) for Heartworm disease, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis, all necessary vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, dental cleaning as necessary, microchipping, registration of the microchip, and any other medical needs each particular dog may need. Copies of all available medical records are transferred to you when the adoption is finalized. We prefer to adopt to families with past Scottie, Westie, Terrier experience, but realize this isn’t always possible. We do NOT ship our pets. If you have that special place in your heart, and in your home, for a Scottie (or any of our other available rescue dogs), please visit us in Dallas for an in person meet & greet session with our available dogs. If you have existing dogs, they should travel to Dallas with you, so we can be assured that they will be compatible with the new addition to your family. Please contact us at Rescue@scottiekingdom.com to receive an Adoption Application or for more information on our Adoption process. Also, please take the time to visit our website www.scottiekingdom.com for additional information. We sometimes receive several applications on the same dog. Our goal is to place the dog in the best home possible, based on his/her needs, personality and past history. Please note: Adoptions are not done on a first come, first served basis. Submitting an application does not guarantee the adoption of any dog. We are looking for the best available home for each of our rescue dogs. Thank you for your understanding, and for considering adoption! We are not supported by your tax dollars or public grants, rather, we rely on donations to help us continue our rescue work for animals that are in need.
