Meet Shawn – A Gentle Soul Learning to Trust Shawn is a 6-year-old Maltese/Poodle mix with a tender heart and a whole new world waiting to be discovered! Shawn is a sweet little fellow who is learning that life can be full of good things, like warm hugs, tasty treats, a soft place to rest, and people who genuinely care about him. He's a quieter more cautious little guy and while he may take a little longer to warm up, his foster mom is already seeing the affectionate dog hiding beneath that shy exterior. At first, Shawn would occasionally growl when something made him uncomfortable. He wasn't showing his teeth, but he was communicating that he needed a little space. His foster mom has learned that he doesn't particularly like sudden movements and prefers a calm, gentle approach. As he's become more comfortable in his new surroundings, his sweet personality has begun to shine through. He now happily accepts hugs and affection from someone he trusts! Shawn is making wonderful little strides every day. He's developing good eating habits, enjoying treats, and making encouraging progress with potty training. He's even learned to use the doggy door all by himself! He's also discovered how much fun it can be to run around the backyard! Toys are still unfamiliar to him, and leash training hasn't begun yet, but every new experience is helping him build confidence and discover the joys of being a dog. Shawn isn't crate trained, and his future family should be prepared to continue working on potty training and helping him learn the routines of a loving home. He's also quite the little backyard watchdog when squirrels make an appearance! Because Shawn is sensitive to quick movements and unfamiliar situations, we believe he would do best in a quieter, patient household, ideally with adults or older, gentle children who understand how to give a dog time and space to feel comfortable. His compatibility with cats is unknown. Shawn may not be the dog who rushes into your arms the moment you meet him, but give him time, kindness, and a little patience, and you just might discover a very special friendship.For someone who finds joy in helping a shy dog build confidence and learn to trust, Shawn could be an incredibly rewarding companion. First and foremost, I am ONLY rehoming her due to my health issues. She is the SWEETEST dog EVER. Sophie is a GREAT alert dog, only really barks if somebody is too close to the door. She loves laying on pillows, getting massages and belly rubs. She does High 5 and give hugs. Sophie is 10 years old but life expectancy for a Morkie (half Yorkie and half Maltese= Morkie) is 17 to 25 years. She is in great health, has great teeth, clean, clean ears. Sophie is not house broken but if you have a house with a SECURE back yard and take her out WITH YOU, no worries. I put her in diapers, just cheap baby diapers size 2 in the house, she's fine. Occasionally I glove up and shampoo her bootie. Sophie is wonderful with kids but she is scared of all other animals. She would be best to be the only pet. Serious inquiries only.

He came to us because his owner could no longer care for him.Byrd is a very shy guy with new people, but once he feels comfortable, he's incredibly sweet and affectionate. Introducing Yeti, a three-month-old, 9 lb Bichon Frise mix! Adoption is limited to residents of the DFW Metroplex. Yeti came to Humane Tomorrow in sad condition. His hair was dirty and matted, and he had sores around his nose (see before picture). After excellent vet care and lots of TLC from his fosters, he is looking and feeling sooo much better! Yeti is an absolute love bug. He loves to sit and snuggle with his people. He's smart too, especially for such a young puppy. He plays fetch with is favorite yellow ball and actually brings it back! Yeti is 95% potty trained and will go to the door when he needs to go out. He sleeps through the night in his crate. Yeti is great with the resident dog, and she is very picky about which foster dogs are allowed in her house. She even allows him to jump up on her in excitement, but he listens to her when she decides playtime is over. Yeti is not the least bit aggressive, but he is mouthy, like most puppies, and he has very sharp baby teeth. He will outgrow this habit, but we are recommending no kids under the age of six.
