Ernie is a 6 year old, 9 lb Maltese/Poodle mix. When he first arrived at Humane Tomorrow, it was obvious that he had not been well cared for. He had a long, dirty coat and teeth that required cleaning and five extractions. Now, he is just as cute as he is sweet and happy. Ernie is a social butterly and the life of the party. He loves people. He will gladly hop into the nearest lap to be petted. He gets along with the big and small dog in his foster home, and he ignores the cat. Ernie could easily be an only dog too, but he would prefer that his people are home most of the time. Please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you.

Biscuit is 28lb maltese-terrier mix. Relatively healthy. He is low maintenance. He does not bark that much. He is chill and likes to sleep. So sweet personality. We rescued him in late 2023 so he is probably around 2.5-3 years old. He has maltese face but terrier fur. He is up to date on his vaccines, gets daily multivitamin, monthly heart worm prevention, he takes daily walk morning and evening, he is cleaned and bathed quite often on regular basis to maintain his hygiene.

Snowflake is a shy but sweet senior girl who would love to spend some time in a cozy foster home. Reason for Foster: Pneumonia; Mammary masses; Possible dental in the futureFoster Time Frame: 3 - 4 weeks (The foster time frame may be longer depending on future rechecks and medical needs.) Foster Care Plan: Snowflake is currently being treated for pneumonia. Since she may be contagious to other pets, we strongly recommend housing her in a separate, dedicated space such as a spare bathroom or bedroom until she has fully recovered. She is also underweight and will need to be fed 3 times a day. Snowflake has mammary masses that may need to be removed once she has recovered from the pneumonia and we would ask the foster to keep an eye on the masses to report any changes. Additionally, she may be in need of a dental procedure in the future. Snowflake will go home with medications to be administered daily and she will need to occasionally return to the shelter for recheck exams with the vet team. A medical consultation will be provided at your pickup appointment and we will give you all the supplies needed to ensure you are prepared to care for this sweet girl. Foster to Adopt: Snowflake is also available for our Foster to Adopt Program, which allows pets to be placed with prospective adopters before they become available for adoption.

Ready to give an old girl like me a chance? Here's how to meet me: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
