Story
Heathcliff is a 1–2-year-old 9-pound neutered male Maltese/Havanese mix.  Neutered, current on all vaccines, heart worm negative, microchipped crate trained and working on house training. Heathcliff is still learning about the world and will need a family that understands the time, patience and commitment that comes with a young adult dog. This will include potty training, learning basic commands, regular exercise, and lots of play time in a backyard with a secure wooden fence. Heathcliff is very curious and likes toys so make sure you have lots of toys to help him grow into a well manner adult dog. Heathcliff would do best with a dog his size, age and energy level. He loves to play. His breed will need regular grooming.  He is an escape artist, and we need to be monitor closely when doors open and close. Heathcliff is a barker when playing and when left alone so an apartment lifestyle is not ideal for him.  If you are ready to welcome this sweet boy into your home and help him grow into the best dog, he can be, he would love to meet you. If you are interested in meeting Heathcliff please submit an adoption application.      Adoption fee is 275.00       We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Bruno been with me since February 18.He’s such a sweet boy. He loves to play and go for walks. He loves his toys and treats.he is crate trained, good with my girls, they’re older. He barks at strangers when they come into the house And also at kittens. He warmed up to us quickly but took a few weeks to warm up to our un-neutered male doodle. They became new fast friends and love to play with each other inside & out. He also not neutered. He is up-to-date on his shots. The home for him has a yard and a family that has the time to get to know him, and enjoy his rambunctious playful ways. His first home moved and couldn’t take him and his 2nd home named him Pickles and then Bear but only had him for a month before she decided that she was too busy for this lovable, playful guy.

Story
Meet Miso, the 10-month-old Maltese puppy who is pure love wrapped in five pounds of fluff! This little sweetheart is the definition of joy — her favorite place in the world is snuggled up right next to her human. Whether you’re watching TV, working from home, or just relaxing, Miso will happily curl up beside you and make every moment brighter. But don’t let her tiny size fool you — Miso also loves to play with other pups! She’s a social butterfly who enjoys romping around with dogs big or small, then curling up for a nap once playtime’s over. She’s great with cats and gentle children too, making her the perfect little addition to a loving family. If you’re ready for a life filled with snuggles, happy zoomies, and endless sweetness, Miso is ready to be the very best part of your day — every day.   Located in Northern Texas — available for out-of-state adoption (transport fee applies) Adoption Application: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/13108/generic Amazon Wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/14C2FGVGHQCWR?ref_=wl_share ##2455156##

Story
Meet Ellie, a delightful 9-year-old pup who proves that age is just a number! Ellie is a hypoallergenic, non-shedding girl who still has a whole lot of spunk. She regularly gets the zoomies and loves to keep you entertained, but she is just as happy to settle down for a good cuddle session. She is fully house-trained, knows her basic commands like "sit," "come," and "go lay down," and while she isn't the biggest fan of the crate, she is crate-trained. To keep her looking and feeling her best, Ellie requires professional grooming once a month. She has also had half of her teeth removed due to past dental rot, so she does well with a diet that is easy on her mouth. If you are looking for an affectionate, low-shedding companion who brings the perfect mix of energy, manners, and cuddles to a home, Ellie is ready to steal your heart!

Story
Crimson is being fostered in VA. Crimson is blind and has kidney disease. Crimson Update – April 1, 2026: Crimson has settled into his foster home, making friends with his foster parents and the four other blind dogs who live in the home. He now knows all about evening sofatime with his foster mom and the other pups, and, after a belly and head rub, takes a nap. He is doing a great job learning to go up and down the two steps from the deck into the yard and then back into the house again. And, with the warmer weather, he likes to take a quick roll in the grass when he goes out to do his business. Crimson does have dry eye now, so is on daily Optimmune (eye ointment). He does a very good job at medication time. For more information about this sweet boy, read what his foster home wrote about him in February 2026. See below. Crimson is a friendly little guy who loves belly rubs! If you would like to know more about this special pup, read on! Crimson is from Florida. His family could no longer care for him and so they turned him over to the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. He traveled to his Virginia BDRA foster home in January 2026 and made friends all along the way. Crimson has settled into his foster home quite well! There are four other blind dogs in the home and Crimson gets along just fine with each of them. He is happy to share a bed and doesn’t mind if a dog bumps into him. He ignores the family cat. At night, he settles easily into his bed and sleeps through the night. He is housetrained – not a single accident yet! He has a deep bark and, when he first arrived, he barked fairly often but now that he is learning the routine, he barks only occasionally (usually when anticipating a meal!). As mentioned, he loves belly rubs and he enjoys head rubs too. He also likes toys. Crimson is blind, diagnosed with SARDS several years ago. SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) is a condition that causes rapid and irreversible blindness due to changes within the retina. In addition, he arrived at his foster home with ear infections that are in the process of being treated. He hears well though and he doesn’t let his blindness bother him at all. His eyes are currently healthy although he does have some clear discharge at times. Crimson also has been diagnosed with kidney disease/kidney failure along with high blood pressure. He is on a prescription kidney diet (Purina) and also on Benazepril twice a day. We don’t know all the details about Crimson’s medical history before he arrived at his foster home and – as is true with any rescue dog – we can’t predict what the future holds for his health. Anyone interested in adopting Crimson should first speak with their vet about canine kidney disease so there is an understanding of this disease, its progression, and how it is treated. Crimson has not spent time with children and, although he is such a nice dog, he should be adopted into a home with older children or adults only. And he should always be supervised when he is with young children, as all dogs should be. If you think you can provide this sweet, gentle dog the wonderful forever home he deserves, complete an application today! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
