Meet Roy — Your New Best Friend! Name: Roy Age: 1 year Gender: Male Weight: 8 kg / 16 lbs Breed: Maltese Health & Training Neutered Fully vaccinated Heartworm negative Potty trained ‍ Walks great on a leash Crate trained? Not yet — but he’s smart, adaptable, and eager to learn! Good With: Dogs: Yes Kids: Yes Cats: Hasn’t been tested yet Where He Stays & Sleeps Roy currently lives with other foster dogs and shares space easily. He sleeps in a cozy dog bed beside his foster siblings and enjoys a peaceful routine. Roy’s Personality Meet Roy — the sweetest gentle soul with a heart full of affection. He loves being close to his human, soaking up pets, cuddles, and calm companionship. He might be soft and sweet, but he’s also a playful young pup! Roy enjoys dogs, outdoor time, and joining in on all the fun. He’s also wonderfully easy to have around: Great in the car Calm and well-mannered at home Happy adventurer on walks, hikes, or outings Whether you want a snuggly companion or a walking buddy, Roy is the perfect mix of playful and peaceful. He’s ready to follow you everywhere and bring joy into your home. Roy’s Ideal Home Roy thrives in a home filled with love, presence, and companionship. His dream family is one that enjoys having a loyal little shadow nearby — someone who appreciates a dog who wants to be part of daily life. He’ll do best with: Daily walks and playtime A family that isn’t gone long hours A friendly dog companion (optional but wonderful!) A household that enjoys both adventure and snuggly downtime Active home? Perfect. Quiet home? Also perfect. As long as there is love, kindness, and togetherness, Roy will fit right in. Roy’s Rescue Story Roy’s life began with heartbreak. He and his three siblings were abandoned at just 2 months old — no mom, no help, no chance. At the same time, their rescuer had just been diagnosed with cancer. Even while fighting her own battle, she did not turn her back on the puppies. With the support of a friend, all four were placed for adoption. Roy was adopted… and for 10 months, it seemed like he had found his happy ending. But after a divorce, the couple returned him — confused, unwanted, and unsure why he lost the only home he knew. His original rescuer, still recovering, took him back without hesitation. She adored him, but she knew Roy deserved a forever family who would commit to him for life. That’s when she came to us. Now Roy is ready for his true fresh start — a loving home where he will finally be cherished, safe, and included forever. Currently in Mexico Roy is waiting for a family committed to a 10-day trial so he can travel to Washington. Interested? Apply at www.northwestwagrescue.org Adoption fee: $600 ##2628662##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please go to our website for all specific information about this dog.  Our info doesn't transfer over to the adoption sites.  Finch came to us with other dogs from a shelter cruelty case confiscation.  He is the sweetest, tiny little guy!  We've taken care of is medical needs (neuter, dental etc) and grooming but he has a pretty significant patella (knee) issue that we cannot address.  He gets around, including running around, just great.  He holds the leg up like a chicken wing and goes!  It causes no pain or discomfort.  He is only 3.8 pounds so no young kids in the home and someone needs to be around to get him outside more often as he won't hold it for long.  We continue to work on that daily.  He needs a professional groomer to keep his coat gorgeous too.  Maltese and very tiny dogs need lifelong dental care so be sure you're willing and able to provide that for him if you do apply for adoption.   Prior to adoption, our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and parasite treated/prevented.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 27, 2025, 7:32 pm

Story
Currently in a Vancouver foster home Hello… my name is Hari. I’m a 5-year-old Maltese mix girl, about 6kg, and for the first time in my life… I’m learning what it means to live for myself. For many years, my whole world was a tiny metal cage. No sunlight. No soft voice calling my name with love. Only the sound of humans demanding one thing from me over and over—to be a mother, again and again, even though I never got to hold or keep any of my babies. Whenever my puppies were taken from me, I tried to chew through the bars to reach them. My teeth became worn down from trying so hard… trying to find them, trying not to give up. I cried quietly and waited, hoping someone would finally come for me. One day, someone did. I was rescued—saved from that place—and for the very first time, I was given a chance to live a life that belongs to me. A life where I never have to breed again. A life where nothing precious is taken away from me anymore. I’m a very calm, very gentle girl. I hardly ever bark. And when I see people, fear isn’t the first thing I feel—joy is. I walk toward you slowly, shyly, but with a little wagging tail… hoping you’ll notice me. Hoping you’ll love me. But everything outside that cage is new to me. Home life, walks, daily routines, learning where to go potty… I’m five years old, but in many ways, I’m just beginning. I will need someone patient, someone kind, who can teach me what every dog should’ve known from the start—that I’m safe, that I’m wanted, and that love doesn’t disappear. I love people more than anything. I feel most at peace when I’m beside a human. If the house is empty for too long, I might become anxious… not because I’m difficult, but because I spent so many years wondering if anyone would ever stay. I’m learning that family means “forever,” and I hope you can show me what that feels like. I don’t want to be a tool anymore. I want to be a family member. I want to spend the rest of my life giving and receiving love—real love, the kind that stays. I’m searching for someone who will become my very first true family. Someone who will fill the years I have left with warmth, safety, and memories I’ve never been allowed to have. If you choose me… I promise I will give you every bit of my heart. With hope, Hari 🤍🐾
