Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please go to our website for all specific information about this dog.  Our info doesn't transfer over to the adoption sites.  Finch came to us with other dogs from a shelter cruelty case confiscation.  He is the sweetest, tiny little guy!  We've taken care of is medical needs (neuter, dental etc) and grooming but he has a pretty significant patella (knee) issue that we cannot address.  He gets around, including running around, just great.  He holds the leg up like a chicken wing and goes!  It causes no pain or discomfort.  He is only 3.8 pounds so no young kids in the home and someone needs to be around to get him outside more often as he won't hold it for long.  We continue to work on that daily.  He needs a professional groomer to keep his coat gorgeous too.  Maltese and very tiny dogs need lifelong dental care so be sure you're willing and able to provide that for him if you do apply for adoption.   Prior to adoption, our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and parasite treated/prevented.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 27, 2025, 7:32 pm

Story
Meet Vivi! Vivi is a bright, energetic 10-month-old pup who is always ready for fun! She loves to chase and wrestle with her dog friends or play an enthusiastic game of fetch with her humans. On walks, she enjoys taking in all the scents of the world and thrives with a good balance of exercise, playtime, and mental enrichment through puzzle toys. This smart girl is eager to learn and highly food-motivated, making her a quick study with training. Vivi is already potty trained, crate trained, and she’s progressing with clicker training for recall and correcting behaviors like barking at the mail carrier and people walking by. The same training is being used during walks when we see other dogs. Vivi also barks when visitors first come in, but she warms up fast—usually a treat and a few pets are all she needs to relax. Vivi can become uncomfortable if she feels cornered or trapped or you try to take something of high value from her. In those moments, she may growl or snap to communicate that she needs space. While she’s not a total lapdog, Vivi loves being near her people — often stretching out across your legs or resting close by. She’ll make a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates an intelligent, playful dog who’s always up for an adventure. We would prefer to see her in a family with kids over 12 only.  Vivi is vaccinated, chipped and spayed. Her adoption fee is $525 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
Rita is an adorable, friendly, spunky little 7lb bundle of joy! She gets along with anyone and everyone. She loves to give kisses and be as close to her humans as possible at all times! She is pretty high energy and would do best with a young, active owner commited to getting this girl exercise and socialization. She would not do well at home alone all day while her owner is at work, for example. Rita is located in Houston TX and will not be transported until she is adopted. The adopter is responsible for paying for her transport in addition to the adoption fee. The adoption fee is $850. The first step is to fill out an application at www.recycleddogsrescue.org No inquiries will be responded to - only completed applications.

Story
Currently in a Vancouver foster home Hello… my name is Hari. I’m a 5-year-old Maltese mix girl, about 6kg, and for the first time in my life… I’m learning what it means to live for myself. For many years, my whole world was a tiny metal cage. No sunlight. No soft voice calling my name with love. Only the sound of humans demanding one thing from me over and over—to be a mother, again and again, even though I never got to hold or keep any of my babies. Whenever my puppies were taken from me, I tried to chew through the bars to reach them. My teeth became worn down from trying so hard… trying to find them, trying not to give up. I cried quietly and waited, hoping someone would finally come for me. One day, someone did. I was rescued—saved from that place—and for the very first time, I was given a chance to live a life that belongs to me. A life where I never have to breed again. A life where nothing precious is taken away from me anymore. I’m a very calm, very gentle girl. I hardly ever bark. And when I see people, fear isn’t the first thing I feel—joy is. I walk toward you slowly, shyly, but with a little wagging tail… hoping you’ll notice me. Hoping you’ll love me. But everything outside that cage is new to me. Home life, walks, daily routines, learning where to go potty… I’m five years old, but in many ways, I’m just beginning. I will need someone patient, someone kind, who can teach me what every dog should’ve known from the start—that I’m safe, that I’m wanted, and that love doesn’t disappear. I love people more than anything. I feel most at peace when I’m beside a human. If the house is empty for too long, I might become anxious… not because I’m difficult, but because I spent so many years wondering if anyone would ever stay. I’m learning that family means “forever,” and I hope you can show me what that feels like. I don’t want to be a tool anymore. I want to be a family member. I want to spend the rest of my life giving and receiving love—real love, the kind that stays. I’m searching for someone who will become my very first true family. Someone who will fill the years I have left with warmth, safety, and memories I’ve never been allowed to have. If you choose me… I promise I will give you every bit of my heart. With hope, Hari 🤍🐾

Story
Starlight is a 5 yr old white Maltese. She is a great dog! he is learning to walk on a leash and goes out 4 times per day. She likes belly rubs. She is still wary of people but she is warming up and will say hello to strangers and then run and hide. She sleeps in a crate and loves to hang out in the crate if she is alone at home. She spends most of her time sleeping, but occasionally plays with toys. She's getting more energetic as she gains weight and eats a healthy diet. She doesn't bark very much, except when she gets scared (like if there's a loud noise) but even then she only barks 1 time and then stops. She likes to give kisses and will sleep on your lap for hours. She can go up stairs on her own but is still learning to go downstairs. She sleeps all night in her crate (with a blanket over), and then sleeps most of the day on the living room floor or in her crate. She is working hard on potty training usually goes on a puppy pad. She circles when she needs to go. She loves to walk and does so 3-4 walks per day if given the opportunity. She is nervous around all humans and dogs but she is not aggressive. She just needs a little more time to get used to people and pets. She will make a great dog for anyone! :) ----- A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters: Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means: ✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment. ✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing). ✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed. The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like. Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are. Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type. ----- Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.
