Story
Meet Capri — your tiny, spirited sidekick in the making!  At just 2 years old and around 6 lbs, Capri is a little bundle of personality wrapped in a soft, fluffy package (Maltese/Shih Tzu mix vibes ). She may be a bit shy at first, but give her a little patience—and maybe a treat or two—and she’ll melt right into you. Once she trusts you, she becomes your “sticky rice” —always close, always loyal. Capri’s got the perfect mix of sweet and spicy :  *Potty trained  *Knows how to sit  *Sleeps through the night  *Crate trained (but doesn’t need it) * Loves toys, playtime, and other dogs  *Obsessed with belly rubs, back scratches, and bully sticks  *Enjoys walks and bird-watching (and maybe a little chasing too!) She’s come a long way learning about collars and leashes, and while she’s doing great on walks, she can still be a little cautious of loud noises and big vehicles. Harness time isn’t her favorite (she’s got opinions! ), and she may get a little nippy during that process—but she’s learning. Because Capri can be a bit sensitive and reserved, she would do best in a quieter home without young children where she can feel safe and blossom at her own pace.  *Spayed *Microchipped* Up to date on vaccines* Recently had a vet exam *Will need regular grooming Capri is a fun, loving little dog with so much personality—and she’s just waiting for the right person to see how special she is  *** Interested in giving Capri her forever home? Story
Waffle is a small dog- about 17lbs- with a big personality and an even bigger need for the right forever home. While he may be adorable, Waffle is not the type of dog who will thrive in just any environment. He is looking for a patient, experienced, dog-savvy adopter committed to helping him continue building confidence and trust. https://youtu.be/aaybwp6jqjI Waffle is estimated to be about 2 years old. Our best guess is that he may be a Maltipoo mix, though as always with rescue, breed and birthday are simply our best guess. Waffle was left behind with two other dogs after his owner was deported, and that experience understandably left him insecure and unsure of the world around him. Because of this, Waffle takes time to warm up to new people and environments. He is not the kind of dog who will immediately shower strangers with affection, but with patience, structure, and consistency, he is capable of forming very strong bonds with his people. Waffle absolutely needs another younger dog in his forever home — ideally a confident dog around his age and similar size who can handle his rough-and-tumble play style, occasional reactivity, and active personality. He relies heavily on other dogs for confidence and comfort, and another dog is essential to helping him feel secure and continue making progress. His ideal home will have: • A securely fenced physical yard (no apartments, condos, or invisible fences) • Another young, confident dog in the home • Experienced adopters familiar with nervous or reactive dogs • A structured environment with boundaries and routine • Patience and realistic expectations during decompression Waffle is vocal, especially when uncertain, so shared-wall living is not appropriate for him. He is also still working on leash skills and can bark at unfamiliar people and dogs on walks. Keeping his world small at first and allowing him to slowly build trust will be very important for his success. Despite his challenges, Waffle has so much potential in the right home. He enjoys playtime, exploring the yard, and being with his dog friends. He is also cat friendly! Watching him slowly learn to trust and feel safe is incredibly rewarding, and the right family will see a side of Waffle that most people never get the chance to experience. Because of his needs, Waffle is not a fit for first-time dog owners or households looking for an easygoing social butterfly. He needs a committed family willing to meet him where he is and help him continue growing into the dog he is meant to be. For serious adopters, we would also be happy to connect you not only with his foster, but with our behavior team to help ensure a successful transition into his forever home. Story
Macy is small enough to fit in the crook of your arm, but her story feels much bigger than she is. She arrived at the shelter trembling, her snowy fur fluffed up like a tiny cloud trying to make itself look brave. Macy had always been a nervous little Maltese, the kind who tiptoes instead of trots and watches the world with wide, wondering eyes. Her whole life had been quiet and predictable — soft blankets, gentle routines, and the steady presence of the person she loved most. But everything changed the day her owner was rushed to the hospital after a sudden accident. Macy didn’t understand the flashing lights or the hurried voices. She only understood that her person didn’t come home. Now she waits. At first, she curled into the smallest ball she could manage, unsure of the new smells and new faces. But slowly, the shelter staff discovered the truth about Macy: beneath her trembling exterior is a heart that wants so badly to trust again. She leans in when someone speaks softly. She relaxes when held close. She watches the door, hoping the next person who walks through might be hers. Macy isn’t the kind of dog who bursts into a room. She’s the kind who blossoms quietly, one gentle moment at a time. What she needs now is a patient, loving home — someone who will show her that even though her world changed, love can still find her. And when it does, Macy will give it back tenfold. Because once this little Maltese decides you’re her person, she’ll never stop believing in you.

***Yoshi is not in the direct care of Happy Tails Happy Homes, we are assisting his owner on finding him a new loving home at no fault of Yoshi's. If you are interested in Yoshi, please fill out an application here: https://www.happytailshappyhomes.org/adoptionform ** (Please read his full bio first. He will need a very specific adopter) Meet Yoshi! 🐶✨ A 6-year-old Maltese–Bichon with big personality, big feelings, and an even bigger love of snuggles (on his terms). 🎾 Throws his own ball like a self-entertaining pro 🍩 Spins into a happy “donut curl” when excited 🧸 Loves calm, one-on-one snuggle time ☀️ Sunbathes like it’s his full-time job 🎬 Perfect movie-night companion 💛 Why he’s being rehomed Yoshi was adopted five years ago when his person worked from home, but life has changed—his owner is now a touring musician who is often away and frequently moving. The constant change and lack of stability has been very stressful for Yoshi, especially given his anxiety and sensitivity to new people. 🧠 Personality & needs Yoshi is sweet and goofy in a calm home, but: 👥 Very reactive to multiple people 🚫 Not suitable for kids ⚠️ Food/resource guarding 🧍‍♂️ Does best with one trusted person and predictable routine He can relax, snuggle, and be playful when life is quiet and structured. ⚠️ Health & behavior Resource guarding, anxiety, reactivity Hip dysplasia (managed with supplements) Sensitive stomach Currently only on glucosamine 💌 Ideal home One calm, consistent adult Low-stimulation environment Experience with or patience for behavior needs Yoshi isn’t an easy dog—but with the right person, he’s a deeply loyal, funny, and affectionate little companion 💛

Story
You may know Monte Cristo as a ghost town, but it was once a booming gold rush town. It was stunning, full of energy, and even now has a certain draw to it. Mini MonteChristo (a.k.a Monte) embodies the town’s history well. This tiny little guy is, in his foster's words, “a complete joy and truly the easiest puppy they've ever fostered.” Monte rarely makes a peep, doesn't chew anything he's not supposed to, doesn't nip or scratch, and is completely unbothered by the resident cats. He just wants to be near a human, play with the other pup residing there, or curl up on a bed. He has recently discovered zoomies, which, on a dog his size, is the cutest thing imaginable. He also gets SUPER excited about breakfast every morning, which… same, Monte. Same. Monte is getting more reliable about going number 1 and 2 outside, although admittedly, 1 is slightly outpacing 2. But hey, he’s learning! Monte is good with other dogs, cats, kids, and car rides. He's food-motivated, a quick learner, and even sleeps through the night. He barely barks, and when he does, his foster describes it as completely cute rather than loud or obnoxious. The original Monte Cristo was abandoned and reclaimed by nature. This Monte Cristo, on the other hand, is very much ready to be claimed by his furever person. -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.
