Someone dumped this bonded pair of gals severely matted and full of fleas.  They are very happy now that they have been groomed.  They are in a foster home with another foo foo dog.  They are kinda shy and timid at first but bond to people.  They are crate trained and leash trained.  They use a doggie door to go into back yard that is securely fenced.  They love hanging out with people and on the furniture. This bonded pair will require a securely fenced yard and frequent grooming.    San Antonio area has over 800,000 homeless pets. Story
Meet Panda! Little Panda is around 4 years old and came to us with his friend Alexander. They did not come from a loving home but they are adjusting well in their foster homes.  Panda is a friendly boy. He loves people, loves attention and is very affectionate. He gets along well with other dogs but has not met a cat. He will do best in a home with older kids (12 and up). Panda is an energetic boy who loves his walks. He is not a couch potato though he can relax alongside you just fine. He does not like to be alone - which is not uncommon for rescue dogs. They are a bit unsettled and that can cause some attachment to humans he likes. He can learn to spend time alone here and there. He can bark at times and for this reason is not suitable for apartment living. He is working on potty training - he did not learn this in his previous home - and his foster mom is working hard to help him understand. He is catching on an doing well.  Panda is scheduled to be vaccinated, neutered and chipped. His adoption fee is $450 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
Lucus was the kind of puppy who should’ve had the world at his paws — bright eyes, a wiggly tail, and a heart that overflowed with sweetness. But one morning, he was found sitting quietly in a kennel at the shelter, no note, no explanation, no person waiting to say goodbye. No one knew why he’d been dumped. Maybe his family moved. Maybe they didn’t understand how gentle he really was. Maybe life just got too hard. But Lucus? He didn’t let the mystery dim his spirit. He greeted every volunteer with a hopeful bounce, pressing his soft head into their hands as if to say, “I’m still here. I’m still good. I still believe in people.” He made friends instantly — tail wagging, paws dancing, eyes shining with that goofy, outgoing charm only a rescue puppy can pull off. Lucus loved everyone. He loved the squeaky toys. He loved the long walks. He loved curling up beside anyone who sat near his kennel, offering quiet comfort with his warm little body. And slowly, the shelter realized something important: Lucus wasn’t broken. He wasn’t sad. He was ready. Ready for a family who would never leave him behind. Ready for a home where his sweetness would be cherished. Ready for a forever life filled with love, adventure, and all the belly rubs he could dream of. Lucus is waiting — hopeful, happy, and full of heart — for the person who will finally say, “Come home, little buddy.”

Story
Minnie wasn’t a big dog — in fact, she was the kind who could fit perfectly in your lap without even trying — but she had the kind of personality that filled the whole shelter. From the moment she arrived, Minnie made sure everyone knew she was there. She trotted up to volunteers with her tail spinning like a tiny propeller, her eyes sparkling with that let’s‑be‑friends energy that only truly outgoing dogs have. If someone opened her kennel door, she greeted them like they were the best part of her day. No one knew much about her past. But her future? Minnie was determined to make it bright. She loved exploring the yard, sniffing every corner like she was discovering treasure. She loved meeting new dogs, always the first to offer a playful bow. And she especially loved people — any people — because to Minnie, every person was a chance for love. At the end of each day, she curled up with her favorite blanket, waiting. Waiting for the family who would see her joy. Waiting for the home where her outgoing spirit could shine. Waiting for the person who would say, “Come on, Minnie… you’re ours now.” Minnie may be small, but her heart is huge — and she’s ready to share it with a forever home that will finally give her the love she’s been searching for.
