Story
fam, what is up? i am viper, legitimately the coolest and nicest dog in town but actually … i am homies with the dogs, the cats, the geckos, the horses, the kids. like?? i am literally THAT guy. i’m pretty easy going on walks, in the car, and on the couch. that new netflix show that’s def gonna be coming out about the karen dever case? i will watch it with you. fr. even if you’re already following it on tiktok. i’ll listen to you talk about it AND i will watch the entire show with you and still act cool with it. so you know…if you’re like interested or whadeva, tap my line and let’s be besties for the resties 🫶🏼 ciao, vipes What the people have to say about me: Meet this handsome, laidback boy who's ready to steal your heart! Viper is a true gentle giant, content to lounge and cuddle or play with his favorite toys. He's a go anywhere kinda guy (brewery/patio approved!) and he's got a smile that will melt your heart! Viper is a loving boy who has shown himself to be a truly medium energy fella - a couple of average walks, some playtime, and something to engage his brain and he's good to go! Viper is also quite the paradox - on one hand he is so smart and eager to please! He knows sit and paw, seems to know to lie down and even comes back when called. On the other hand, this poor guy couldn't figure out how a kong works! It's okay Viper, we get it. You're book smart and might just lack some commonsense! Viper loves to chew and is an expert at defluffing a good stuffed toy. He loves his playtime with his doggy pals equally to his cuddles with his human companions. Viper says there's no such thing as being too big to be a lapdog and he's always ready to offer his belly for some rubs! With his sweet disposition and easygoing nature, he's looking for a loving home where he can be your best friend and a cherished member of the family. Viper has a chill demeanor and is a joy to be around! He's got a heart as big as his head and is just waiting to adore his forever family with! Story
Maisie is a female F1B Mastador. (75% English Labrador & 25% English Mastiff) She is 13 months old and 85 pounds. She will likely grow to be about 100 - 110 pounds . She is smart, playful, and strong. She knows all basic obedience commands and is house trained. This girl needs a yard and experienced dog owners. These owners need to be able to handle Maisie. She is a beautiful girl and is built like a tank. She takes a while to warm up and initially comes across as anxious and fearful when meeting strangers. Afterward, she becomes extremely bonded, loving, and very friendly. We would not look for homes with small children since, in her excitement, she might knock them over. She is learning to "leave it" regarding the cat and is good with one foster's dog but not the other. So she would be fine as an only dog. She is up-to-date on her vaccinations. Freckles does not have ownership of this dog, but they are helping her foster find her the right home.

Important Facts About AmayaDogs: We would encourage you to bring your dog for a dog-meet! Our staff are happy to assist.Cats: UnknownKids: UnknownHouse-trained: UnknownOther: Amaya is a tender-hearted wallflower with a quiet soul and so much love to give — once you’ve earned her trust. This sensitive girl is still learning that the world isn’t as scary as it seems, and she’s making slow but steady progress every day.Amaya thrives in calm, predictable environments and blossoms with people who let her take things at her own pace. Once she begins to feel safe, you’ll notice her gentle curiosity: a soft nudge of your hand, a tail wag when she sees a familiar face, or a brave step forward during a treat game. Her favorite activities so far? Investigating puzzle toys, enjoying long-lasting chews, and engaging in peaceful `freework` where she gets to explore and build confidence without pressure. While she’s still nervous on walks and shy with handling, Amaya has shown signs of growth — allowing consent-based leash interactions, walking to new spaces with support, and even choosing to approach for gentle affection. She`s not quite ready for the hustle and bustle of the big world yet, but she’s ready for someone kind, patient, and understanding to help her bloom.Amaya would do best in a quieter home (ideally with a yard or easy outdoor access) and may benefit from living with a calm, confident dog friend after a proper meet. She’s not the dog who will leap into your arms on day one — but give her time and space, and she just might sneak her way into your heart forever. If you are interested in adopting Amaya, please visit the shelter during our adoption hours.

Story
Name: Shaq Sex: Male Estimated Age: About a year old Best Guess for Breed: Mixed Breed Mastiff Dog Weight: About 60 lbs Lives With: Dogs and adults (including kids). Housebroken? Shaq is housebroken. He is currently working on crate training (making great progress!) and learning his basic commands. Story: Shaq was rescued from a shelter locally in Washington, DC. Shaq is a happy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. He knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with his humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Shaq is just looking for someone to be his new best furend and we know that he will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. As a puppy, Shaq will need an adopter who is committed to setting him up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising him both mentally and physically. He will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! What my foster says: Shaq is really just the best, and we absolutely adore him. He is 100% the most cuddly dog we have fostered and is an absolute ham. He’s great with other dogs and all humans. He’s fully potty trained and only goes to the bathroom outside. He’s good on the leash, but can be a little mouthy when he plays (like a typical puppy) - we are working with him to correct this behavior and he’s responding really well to training. He has lived with kids and other dogs and does great. He’s a great, happy boy and will make a fabulous family dog or companion! The fee to adopt Shaq is $475. That covers the cost of all his vaccines, the collar he’s wearing, his transport to DC and his care in his foster home. He’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines and neutered. Shaq has been seen by a shelter vet and we are not aware of any health issues. If you think that Shaq might be your perfect match, apply today!April 6, 2025, 4:04 pm
