Story
I adopted Hugo almost 10 years ago as a very sick 2yo pup and I nursed back to health. He's silly, sweet, and loves the outdoors. He is reactive around other animals but very good with humans of all sizes. Looking to find him a new home since our growing family has become more demanding and were not able to give him the attention he deserves. He's about 85 lbs with a big mastiff head and solid stout body. Happy to share any additional details and medical records.

Story
Maddie is looking for their forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: Maddie is a calm, sweetheart with a cute "pouty" bottom lip and big, golden eyes. She can be a little timid meeting new people but warms up quickly. Maddie's hidden talent is that she could eat non stop and still be skinny - people often think she is larger than she is, but she's solidly a medium sized pup at around 46 lbs. She also is a cute grunter, snorter and she has earned the nickname "lil piggy" because of her noises. So far Maddie has done well with every dog she has met and lives with two large furry foster siblings. Even dogs that don't seemed to be impressed with her, she gets the hint and usually leaves them alone. Alternatively, she isn't a fan of pushy dogs but leaves them alone without incident. Maddie's daytime routine currently consists of eating breakfast and some morning activity (wrestling with her Corso bro, sniffari, or a walk) and then she is perfectly content napping. She usually spends a few hours napping next to her foster mom's desk during the work day. She would make a great office pet as she stays quiet during Zoom meetings and other calls. Maddie has not been tested with cats but she has seemed interested in chasing squirrels & rabbits so she may need a cat-free home or thoughtful, slow integration with a very dog-savvy cat. Overall, Maddie is a lovely, medium energy dog that is affectionate with her people but can also settle nearby. An easy-going pup, Maddie seems okay with most things. She's a confident, curious and friendly little girl that will make a great addition to a variety of different homes and lifestyles. ATTRIBUTES: Maddie does well with dogs. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. Name:  Meatball       Best Guess for Breed:  Mastiff mix  Best Guess for Age:  4 years as of July 2024     Gender:  Male Approximate Weight:  74 lbs  Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested Currently Living At: South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here after completing heartworm treatment! Special Adoption Considerations: Meatball is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Meatball is Looking For:   First, let us tell you about Meatball's previous chapter. His owner passed away. The family came into town, cleared out the house, put Meatball outside, and left. Neighbors noticed he was still there after a while, living under the porch, and called.  Meatball has firmly closed that chapter and is eager for his next one, where he is once again be in a loving home. This big sweetie is looking forward to sniffy walks and exploring the world with his new humans. And just looking at them adoringly, knowing he is safe and under his own roof, knowing where he belongs. he promises loving, loyal companionship for all his days.   Is Meatball the steady presence you can see by your side? Are you the soft landing he deserves? Maise came to us from an overcrowded shelter in Alabama along with her four siblings. Maise has landed in a nice foster home, but what she really wants is a loving forever home of her own. Could that be with you? Maise is your typical playful, friendly puppy. She is very sweet and loves to be around other dogs. At Maise's young age, she is in her prime for training and socialization. She will grow to be a wonderful companion for many years to come. Please remember that young babies require a lot of time, love, and patience to become the best doggie citizens they can be. Maise will make a great addition to an active home. Submit an application today and change this sweet girl's life forever! ‍Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/.
