Story
Meet Maxwell! Say hello to Maxwell — a big, goofy, loveable and absolutely charming boy who found himself in need of rescue through absolutely no fault of his own. Maxwell was surrendered by his previous family and although his heart is still healing from that loss this incredibly sweet and playful boy is ready to find the safe, loving and forever home he so deeply deserves. Maxwell's Story: Maxwell came to us when his previous family could no longer keep him — a situation that was completely out of his control and not a reflection of who he is in any way whatsoever. His former family described him as a big, goofy and immensely playful companion who brought joy and laughter into their home every single day. That dog is still very much in there — working through the confusion of losing everything familiar and slowly but surely letting his wonderful personality shine through again. What His Previous Family Said About Him: The people who knew Maxwell best described him as: Big & Goofy — Maxwell has a larger than life personality and a silly, playful nature that is completely and utterly endearing Immensely Playful — This boy loves to play and brings so much fun and energy to every interaction Perfectly House Trained — Maxwell is fully house broken and knows exactly how to behave in a home environment Crate Trained — Maxwell is comfortable and relaxed in his crate and uses it without any issues whatsoever Free Roams Peacefully — When left alone Maxwell is capable of free roaming the home without any adverse incidents. A truly remarkable quality that speaks to his calm and trustworthy nature History with Children & Dogs — Maxwell has previously lived successfully with both children and dogs of all sizes showing his adaptable and gentle nature Maxwell at the Shelter: We want to be completely honest about where Maxwell is right now because this sweet boy deserves nothing less than full transparency. The shelter environment has been genuinely difficult for this sensitive soul. Away from the only family he has ever known, surrounded by new faces and unfamiliar dogs passing his kennel, Maxwell has understandably experienced heightened anxiety and unease. But here is what is so remarkable about this boy — despite all of that our dedicated behavior team has watched him gradually open up and reveal the same loveable, goofy and wonderful personality his previous family fell so deeply in love with. That dog never went anywhere. He is right there, just waiting for the right environment to let him fully shine. Our behavior team is working hard to move Maxwell to a quieter section of the shelter where he can decompress and feel more at ease while he waits for his forever home. What Maxwell Needs: A Calm & Quiet Home — Maxwell is a sensitive boy who truly thrives in a peaceful environment where he can feel completely safe and secure Calm Canine Companions — Maxwell does beautifully in playgroups and enjoys the company of other dogs. He does best with calmer dogs as high energy canines can sometimes feel overwhelming for this gentle soul ‍‍ Child Free Environment Recommended — Although Maxwell has a positive history with children his tendency to be a little jumpy and nervous around new people means he would do best and feel most comfortable in a home without young children ⏳ Patience & Understanding — Maxwell may be cautious when meeting new people at first but given time, gentleness and consistency this boy will reward you with a loyalty and love that is truly beyond measure A Note About Maxwell: Maxwell did not choose this situation. He did not do anything wrong. He is simply a big hearted, goofy and loving boy who lost his family and is trying his very best to navigate a world that suddenly feels very uncertain and scary. He needs someone who sees past the nervousness and the shelter anxiety and recognizes what is truly underneath — A loyal, playful, sweet and absolutely wonderful companion who has so much love left to give and is desperately hoping someone will give him the chance to give it. Maxwell is longing for a safe, quiet and loving forever home where he can finally exhale, be himself completely and spend every single day being the goofy and devoted companion he was always meant to be. He has already been through so much. It is time for Maxwell's story to have the happy ending he so truly deserves. Could you be the one to give it to him?  ADOPTION FEE: $375.00 includes first 2 DAPP, bordetella, neuter, heartworm test, deworming, flea preventatives, microchip   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have. https://foha.org/pet/queen2023/ All hail me, your Queen! Hey there! My name is Queen, and I am a big, beautiful pup with a larger-than-life personality and a royal charm. The great outdoors is where I truly shine—I absolutely love going for walks and can never get enough of them! Leash walking? Piece of cake! I’m always ready for an adventure. Hiking is one of my absolute favorite things to do. Whether it’s a winding trail through the woods or a peaceful park, I’m in my element. There’s just something magical about exploring nature—splashing my paws in streams, sniffing out all the new scents, and, of course, rolling in the grass (I just have to!). I’m also a fantastic travel buddy. Car rides? No problem! I’m happy to either gaze out the window, watching the world go by, or just settle in with a tasty treat. And speaking of treats… let’s talk food. I. Am. FOOD. DRIVEN. Seriously, if you’ve got snacks, you have my full attention. Training? Yep, I’ve had training sessions, and with the right motivation (ahem, treats), I’m eager to learn and show off my skills. But let’s be real—I like to think I’m the one in charge, so I need a patient and consistent owner who knows my breed and can keep me on the right track. I’ve been in the shelter for two whole years, just waiting for my perfect match. I may come off as a bit sensitive, so I’d thrive in a quiet home where I can feel safe and comfortable. But once I warm up to you? Oh boy, get ready for endless love, constant demands for attention, and yes—plenty of slobbery kisses! If you can handle that, I promise I’ll be your best girl. I’d do best as the only dog in the home, soaking up all the love and attention (because let’s face it, I deserve it!). A household without kids would also be ideal, given my size and my big, excitable heart. But don’t let my size fool you—I’m a total teddy bear and a great house guest. I love hanging out with my favorite people, cuddling up, and just being part of the family. If you’re looking for a majestic, affectionate, food-loving, adventure-ready companion, I’m your girl! Let’s take on the world, one walk (or treat) at a time. If you’d like to meet me, fill out an application (no obligation), and let’s make it happen. Hope to see you soon!

Story
Titan is a remarkable 2-year-old Cane Corso/mastiff mix who has made an incredible recovery and is ready for the right long-term home. When he arrived at the shelter, he was severely underweight at 78 lbs due to neglect. Over the past 16 weeks, he has thrived in a stable home and is now 122 lbs, his healthy target.Titan is deeply bonded to his person and is responsive and obedient. He's super polite, walks beautifully on leash, rides calmly in the car, and loves to play fetch or relax near his people. He's affectionate, people-oriented, and has shown no resource guarding. He's socially interested in other dogs and has done well with known dogs, but does best with calm, structured introductions. Consistent with his breed, he is not a group-play dog.Titan's been a wonderful companion, but would flourish with more than I can provide on my own: seeking an experienced home with a couple/family. Fee includes supplies and equipment - and is intended to ensure a committed, prepared home.

Story
Hello everyone, this is Rah. Rah is a 4 year old, 110 lb female, North American Mastiff. Rah loves cuddles, snuggles and couches. Dog parks and playing fetch are her absolute fav! She is VERY gentle with children despite her size. As big as she is she is afraid of her own shadow. Overall she just loves love. She has seasonal allergies, allergic to all poultry and beef. She can eat salmon, pork, and any other type of fish. To keep her allergies at bay, she is on Prednisone. Unfortunately, my husband started school full time along with working full time. I as well work full time and she spends most of her days at home alone. My girl is built for adventures outside not stuck in a small two bedroom apartment.

*Woof* I`m in a foster home. To meet me reach out to my foster caregiver at faithsanders25@gmail.com.Onyx is an 80lb cuddle bug who loves to play but can also appreciate a good nap. He loves to meet new people regardless of age, as long as they agree to never stop petting him. He is crate trained and potty trained and would make a fantastic companion for a single person or even a family with children. Onyx is a curious big guy always up for a long walk through the neighborhood. He is currently working on loose leash walking but responds well to positive reinforcement and is extremely food motivated. He knows basic commands such as sit, stay, down, and leave it but is eager and willing to learn more. If you are looking for a gentle giant to join your family, Onyx may be the one for you!

*Woof* I`m in a foster home! Email my foster caregiver to meet me: klahouston@gmail.comThis here is our Chi Chi, and when you see her she looks like she is dancing the cha cha--she just gets so excited! Its truly a joy to visit with this gal. She will wiggle and wag and run in circles, but then she is ready to be leashed and be on her way with you! When she spends time in the park, she runs around joyfully, and then she is ready for some training! This smart girl knows sit and `touch` and `find it` and may have a few more tricks up her sleeve, like giving her paw. Truly the sky is the limit here! So if a smart and happy dog is what you need, you may just have found her!

Story
***50% of Bruno's adoption fee is sponsored by Petfinder*** 🐾 Meet Bruno: The Gentleman, The Scholar, and The Professional Snuggler! If you’re looking for a dog who balances "perfectly behaved gentleman" with "absolute goofball," look no further. Bruno is a soulful, emotive, and incredibly loyal companion who is ready to find his forever "person." With his expressive brows and heart-melting eyes, he doesn't just look at you—he looks into your soul. 🎩 The Perfect Gentleman Bruno is the gold standard for house manners. He is housebroken, crate trained, and a non-destroyer of household items (he saves his "demolition skills" strictly for his own toys and bones). A Clean Eater: He is incredibly food-motivated but has the gentlest mouth when taking treats. No mess, no grabby teeth—just pure politeness. The Hand-Holder: One of Bruno’s most endearing traits is his habit of putting his paw in your hand. It’s his way of saying "I love you" or "Hey, a snack would be great right now." Scholar Status: He already knows Sit, Stay, and Paw. He has a deep desire to learn more and will happily master new tricks for a piece of string cheese or a hot dog. 🧸 Playtime & Personality The Package Investigator: Expect Bruno to be the first one at the door when a delivery arrives. He takes his job as "Chief Package Inspector" very seriously, always checking to see if the box contains a new puzzle or bone. Goofy & Loving: He’s a total fan of hugs, kisses, and even little "nose nibbles." At night, he takes his job as a professional bed warmer very seriously. The Rolling Stone: Bruno loves a yard where he can zoom around and, more importantly, engage in some high-quality grass rolling. Balanced Energy: He’s got great energy for a walk or a game of fetch, but he’s equally content to be a lazy couch potato by your side. 🐕 On the Walk Bruno is a dream on a leash. He’s curious and aware, but he’s a "proactive" walker. He’s learned to sit and wait at corners until you give the "let’s go" signal. When he sees other dogs, he’s happy to give them space and can be easily distracted with treats—he’s a "look and move on" kind of guy! 🏡 Bruno’s Wish List Bruno is a sensitive soul who thrives on routine and clear boundaries. His ideal home includes: The "Quiet" Life: Bruno is sensitive to high-pitched sounds (he’s not a fan of the "click" of nail clippers!), so a calm environment is best. Room to Breathe: He loves open spaces where he can retreat and take some "me time" when he needs it. A home with a privacy-fenced yard would be his absolute dream. Grown-Up Friends: Because of his size and sensitive nature, he’d do best in a home with teenagers or adults only. Solo Pet Status: Bruno would likely thrive as an "only child" in a single-person home or a quiet household. He prefers a life free of cats or small "critters." Is Bruno the loyal, hand-holding partner you’ve been searching for? His Foster Family shared: "Bruno is the ultimate 'soulmate dog.' He has this incredible way of communicating just by using his expressive eyebrows or gently placing his paw in your hand to ask for a snack—or just a little bit of your time. He’s a total gentleman in the house, a world-class bed warmer, and honestly, he’s the best assistant I’ve ever had for unboxing packages! If you’re looking for a loyal, goofy best friend who truly listens, Bruno is your guy."
