Hello everyone, I’m Miss Juanita! Before I go on, I know what you are thinking...what is that charming house-elf from Harry Potter doing at Muddy Paws?!? Well just like the best character in all of Harry Potter, I am looking for my people who will accept me for all I am (including my big ears and bigger heart).
I was in rough shape before I came to Muddy Paws. When my mom picked me up at Queens ACC, I had a bad case of pneumonia, was underweight, and had rotting teeth (though that didn't stop my foster family from accepting my kisses). However, like all New Yorkers, I am tough and persevere! I overcame my pneumonia and had no less than 15 rotten teeth removed, which I think is a record. Some might think going through that would dampen your outlook on life, but me? No way! Do I still enjoy mealtime? Of course, three meals a day please! I can chow down with the best of them (I once tipped over the treat jar for a well-earned snack, just to prove it).
I love nothing more than cuddling on a warm lap, getting belly rubs, giving kisses, sunbathing, and napping (my foster dad says I’m a pro!). But if there’s one thing I truly LOVE, it’s a walk. While I may no longer be able to salsa dance the night away, I am always up for a stroll and have impressed my foster family with my on-leash manners! As I've gotten better, I've enjoyed being able to meet my fellow New Yorkers out and about and have even met a few famous around town. A lady never tells, but let’s just say I’ve got fans in high places (*still waiting for George Clooney to call me back!*).
After reading all of that, you've probably realized that this old lady has got a lot more life left in her. While I'm a bit shy at first, as my foster family will tell you, I've got a great deal of spunk! I love a good challenge, especially escaping from a baby gate to join my foster sisters (Ha my foster parents still haven't figured that one our). A lady’s got to keep things interesting, after all! My ideal family would be one that is patient with me, but you'll quickly learn that I am very adaptable and can get along with anyone, even my foster home's grumpy resident dog. I’m looking forward to meeting even more people and finding my forever home (but please lets hold off on the hard treats for now)!
