Looking for a sleepy, snuggly senior? Meet Grandpa Lazzi. All this sweet, 12,5-year-old gentleman wants is a safe place to land, a lap to lay his head, and a couch to fart on. His old heart is full of love and loyalty, and he’ll always wants to be by your side—whether it’s for a nap or, well, more naps.
Lazzi is a unique soul who has a few special needs. He’s mostly deaf; but on the plus side, he won't hear your neighbor's poorly behaved dog constantly barking next door, and the hustle&bustle on NYC streets leaves him unfazed. He’s also got some wobbly legs and arthritis and bumps into walls, corners, curbs if he has a weaker moment. He is currently taking two medications twice a day for arthritic pain and anxiety, and his mobility tends to regress as the day goes on. Due to this, he currently takes one walk to the park a day in the morning—which he loves and he will practically gallop on the way! Lazzi does show dog reactivity on his walks, barking and pulling at any passing dogs. (A strong arm and treats to distract are needed.) Being an old guy, he does need frequent pee breaks but is more than content using his foster parents' small outdoor space for his comfort or a little corner across the street. He often has ear infections, his ears need to be closely watched, cleaned daily with a dog ear cleaner and he has medication for them, too. If necessary to leave him by himself for a bit, indoors, he knows how to use a wee wee pad! A ground floor apartment or elevator building is necessary for his comfort, as is a single-dog home.
After his morning romp, Lazzi's ideal day consists of sleeping, snuggles, and absent-mindedly licking the bare legs of his loved ones. He’s a sweet, lazy boy who loves nothing more than lounging on the couch next to you, making adorable old man grumbles and doing wide paw sploots wherever he wants to rest. When his eyes are open he won't let you out of his sight, following you from room to room. At night, he likes to pull his bed closer to yours, never wanting to be too far. Lazzi is very food motivated (but shows no food aggression) and will do anything for a Whimzee or carrot. (He loves carrots!) He is currently on a prescription diet to help manage his senior dog needs.
If you’re looking for a lazy, loving companion who will make you laugh and melt your heart with his old man quirks, Lazzi is your guy. After being found outside an abandoned home, taken in by the NYCACC, and now being fostered through Muddy Paws, this old man is ready for a peaceful, loving home where he can spend his golden years in comfort and the security of knowing he won't be left behind.
