Story
Prince is a handsome young adult male, estimated to be around 1 year old, who is ready to leave his past behind and find the loving forever home he deserves. This sweet boy was found as a stray alongside two other dogs in a quiet neighborhood where nearly every home already had a dog. Given the circumstances, it's hard to imagine how three friendly dogs ended up there, and we believe they were most likely abandoned. Thankfully, all three dogs were rescued and brought to safety. After no owner came forward to claim Prince, he officially became part of the ROOT Rescue family.
While we can't say with certainty what breed Prince is, our best guess is that he's a Cavapoo (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle mix). His beautiful markings, soft curly coat, and overall structure strongly resemble another Cavapoo we previously rescued. Our veterinarian also noted his beautiful pearly white teeth, estimating him to be about a year old. In the last photo, you'll even see Prince before his summer groom, showing off his long, fluffy coat. As his hair grows back, his future family should be prepared for regular grooming to keep him comfortable and looking his best.
Prince truly is one of those dogs that leaves a lasting impression on everyone he meets. Although we don't know what life was like before he came into rescue, one thing is certain—he has an incredibly gentle, loving soul. He is calm, affectionate, and happiest when he's with his people. Whether you're relaxing on the couch, working from home, or heading out for a walk, Prince simply wants to be by your side.
One of Prince's best qualities is his incredible personality. He has never met a stranger and absolutely loves everyone he meets. Whether it's family, friends, visitors, or new people, Prince greets everyone with a wagging tail and a happy attitude. He truly doesn't have a mean bone in his body and simply wants to love and be loved.
The only challenge Prince is currently working through is his separation anxiety. Because of what he may have experienced in his past, he struggles with being left alone and doesn't enjoy being crated. He much prefers the company of his people and can become anxious when separated from them. One thing we've noticed is that Prince does exceptionally well in a home with other dogs. He finds comfort in their companionship, enjoys having a canine friend around, and seems much more relaxed when he isn't alone. While another dog isn't required, we do believe he would thrive in a home with a friendly, confident canine companion.
Prince would likely do best with someone who works from home, has a flexible schedule, or is simply looking for a constant companion. We completely understand that every family needs to leave the house for errands, appointments, or everyday life. Prince doesn't expect someone to be home 24/7, but he is looking for a family that understands his separation anxiety and is willing to continue helping him build confidence through patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement.
Prince enjoys going for walks and absolutely loves watching birds along the way. He has a mellow, easygoing personality and is wonderful with people, other dogs, and enjoys being part of the family. While he has done well with children, we believe he would be happiest in a calm home with a predictable routine where he can continue to build confidence and feel secure.
Prince has been fully vetted and is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm and Lyme tested, and has been examined by our veterinarian. He is healthy and ready to begin the next chapter of his life.
We understand that adopting a dog with separation anxiety requires commitment, which is why ROOT Rescue offers a foster-to-adopt program. This allows families to ensure it's the right fit before making a lifelong commitment. We also partner with a professional trainer who is available to help guide adopters through the transition and provide support if needed.
Every rescue dog has a story. While we may never know everything Prince has experienced, we do know that his past does not define him. He deserves a family who will see beyond where he came from and love him for the incredible dog he is today. In return, Prince will give you unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and a best friend for life.
If you think Prince could be the perfect addition to your family, we'd love to hear from you!
