Sophie is navigating her decompression period very well and demonstrates a confident curiosity toward her new surroundings. On her initial transport to her foster home, she traveled via the subway system and remained very calm, showing no signs of distress or fear in response to the loud, high-stimulus environment. She handles general city chaos well and has only shown a mild startle response to a nearby truck honking unexpectedly.
In the home, Sophie has shown an intrigued, calm interest in the household dog. She initiates occasional sniffing to investigate her canine housemate. When the resident dog removes herself from the interaction due to shyness, Sophie respects that boundary and remains unbothered, showing a balanced and non-reactive approach to sharing space with another animal. She splits the rest of her time between relaxing on the couch or laying out on the floor when indoor temperatures are warmer. During human meal times, she consistently sits quietly near the table.
On leash, Sophie is a capable walking companion. She displays a curious interest in unfamiliar people and dogs on her route, but she can be easily redirected to maintain her pace. She exhibits some pulling behavior when excited, which can occasionally cause her to strain her throat and cough; because of this, she is working on maintaining a steady, structured pace.
Sophie is indoor house-trained. She has had a small number of accidents as she continues to acclimate to a new environment and schedule. At night, Sophie sleeps in her crate. She has occasionally whimpered and whined in the middle of the night.
Sophie is currently on a medication regimen, which she accepts willingly when it is administered inside a pill pocket. She can be a picky eater regarding her dry food and has required consistent verbal encouragement from her foster parent to eat her Kismet chicken and barley kibble, though she is highly motivated by standard dog treats.
