Story
We found Ellie in early November in rural Louisiana & she had clearly been fending for herself for quite some time. She was emaciated, tick-covered, & living off whatever scraps she could find in the woods. Since then, she has blossomed into a healthy 50-lb bundle of pure sweetness. She is extremely affectionate and people-oriented. She is crate trained and housebroken. She walks well on a leash and knows basic commands. Her favorite toy is her large Kong (which she throws & chases herself), & will chew for hours on a large beef bone. She does show some fear responses to loud noises & sudden movements, but that has decreased over time. To make her transition as smooth as possible, her adoption includes a large crate & crate pad, large dog bed, harness, & leash. She would thrive as either a single pet or in a home with other friendly dogs around her size. Unfortunately, our smaller dog doesn't want to share her space which is the only reason why we are trying to find her a new home.

Story
This sweet girl came to us during a recent family loss. She was neglected and has lived outside almost her whole life. I have potty and crate trained her. Despite limited socialization with other dogs, she remained gentle and affectionate with people. When we brought her into our home, it became clear that she is not comfortable living with other dogs. She reacted defensively toward our resident dog, and for everyone’s safety, we made the difficult decision that our home is not the right long-term fit for her. With people, she is calm, loving, and eager for connection. She enjoys attention, is respectful, and has a sweet, soulful presence. She does best in quiet environments and would thrive as the only pet, where she can finally feel safe and secure. We are committed to finding her a home or rescue that understands her history and can offer her stability, patience, and a dog-free space to decompress and be loved.

Story
Murphy is a sweet, loving dog who is looking for a forever home with an active lifestyle. We love him dearly, but unfortunately, we’re unable to give him the level of activity and engagement he truly deserves. He can be a little anxious or hesitant when meeting new people at first, but he warms up quickly and turns into an absolute bundle of joy. Once he feels comfortable, his playful, affectionate personality really shines. Murphy would thrive with someone who enjoys staying active and can give him the time, attention, and love he needs. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will bring happiness, energy, and lots of love into your life, Murphy might be the perfect match for you. 💛

Story
Kimora is the SWEETEST 11 month old puppy. I rescued her from an accidental breeding situation in AL, and have been looking for her a home since. She is SUPER high energy and just has become a lot for me. She needs training more than I can provide or afford, along with a big yard for her to run around in. I’m finishing up a doctorate degree, work up to 10 hours a day, & just moved to a tiny 1 bed/1 bath on a fixed income at this moment. I believe she needs a loving home with a big yard and preferably with other big dogs or no dogs at all, as she LOVES to play but is of course unaware of her size and is pretty rough with my smaller dog. I’ve had him for 3 years and he’s adjusted to my lifestyle, but since bringing her into the home, he cries and hides from her everyday. She is very food motivated as well. She loves to cuddle and I’m sure will be a great addition to a home with high energy kids, other big dogs, and of course a large yard/land.

Story
Chaka Lou is a sweet, loyal, funny, smart, and deeply attentive girl! Fostered from DAS since April 2025, she is house, crate, leash, and harness trained. She knows sit, down, stay, off, leave it, no, and comes happily (for a treat). She loves frisbee, tennis balls, Kong toys, tug-of-war, squeakies, walks, runs, belly rubs and booty scritches, and her bed- or yours! She bonds closely with her person and thrives on being included in everyday life, whether that’s adventures outside or relaxing at home. A natural guardian and gentle nurse, she alerts you to visitors and softly nudges you if you’re unwell or need to sit. Curious about cats and wants to play but still working on chase manners. Confident, affectionate, and eager to learn, she will flourish in a home with structure, activity, and lots of love. Like many long-term shelter pets, she needs urinary prescription food; I use it for training treats, cost is similar to regular food and treats. Come meet your newest family member!

Story
We adopted Jax from a shelter. He was found as a stray. He’s over a year old now. Hes a huge cuddler and doesnt know his size. He loves to play, especially with other animals and kids. Hes very food driven and loves to explore for anything to eat. We unfortunately had to downsize homes and found out our oldest daughter cannot tolerate him due to her asthma. He is much too big for this home and needs somewhere he can run and have space to play.

Story
Tank is a cuddle bug of a dog. Has typical chihuahua characteristics like barking and burrowing under blankets. He may take some time to warm up to new people but once he trusts you, he’ll come running as soon as you sit down on the couch. Tank knows some tricks like “sit” “leave it” and our favorite “roomba!” —which we use when some food crumbs fall on the floor and we need some help tidying it up. We have a new baby in our home and Tank needs someone’s undivided love and attention. He needs a loving home where he can be allowed on the furniture. He needs cuddles to survive!

Story
Please Read everything before you show that you are interested. We found him as a baby and have cared for him, but he needs a home where he is treated well and cared for. He’s has had his basic shots for the past two years, i have paid about a hundred each time, nothing fancy. Also he is not used to potty inside but will let you know when he needs to go outside and take care of business. If you expect more from a free dog. Go to a fancy place. Milo is full of energy and healthy, but I would rather that he goes to a person who needs a good companion. My kids don’t care for him anymore. Thats the main reason I am giving him up. he is a little over two years old. Playful and curious.
