Story
Hi, I am Nikki! I am the perfect age to bring fun and love into your home. I still have plenty of playful energy. I love running, playing, and trips to the beach, but I also know when it is time to be calm, cuddly, and sweet. I get along well with other dogs and would love a canine friend, though cats are not really my thing. Kids are great too, especially older ones, but sometimes I get excited and jump up. My dream home would be with an active family that enjoys walks, runs, or beach days. Afterward, I will happily snuggle up with you.If you want a playful dog to be by your side then I am yout girl. This dog is currently in foster care in La Paz, Mexico, but will be transported upon adoption or foster placement. As a U.S. nonprofit, Hope 4 La Pawz, handles all logistics and provides full behavioral and medical info in advance.

Story
Name: Taki Age: 2 years Sex: Neutered male Breed: Pointer mix Color: White & Black Weight: 16 kg Height (shoulder): 57 cm   Rescue Story Taki entered a municipal shelter in December 2025, wearing a collar, which suggests he may have been abandoned. He was rescued just before euthanasia and transferred to our care in March.   ‍‍ With People Taki is an affectionate and social boy who loves being around people. He happily approaches both familiar and new people, leaning in for pets and attention. He is comfortable being handled and can be picked up by placing arms under his belly. Once he bonds with you, he will even roll over to show his belly.   With Other Dogs Taki is friendly and eager to interact with other dogs. He approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to greet and invite them to play. If other dogs don’t engage, he may bark to express his desire to join in. He tends to be more comfortable with dogs of similar or smaller size and will avoid overly energetic or confrontational dogs. While he enjoys playing with dogs, he generally prefers people over other dogs when given the choice.   With Cats When he sees cats during walks, he shows curiosity but can be redirected easily and follows his handler well. Cat testing is available upon request.   Energy Level Taki has a moderate energy level. He enjoys outdoor activities and playtime, but he settles down nicely afterward. He loves to play, but his stamina is not very high—he often lies down to rest during play sessions.   ‍ Walks Taki is curious and enjoys sniffing, so he tends to move side to side during walks. He may pull occasionally when excited, and he is currently learning to walk calmly beside his handler.   Other Notes   Not possessive over food with people or dogs, but has a strong appetite and may try to take others’ food May show mild separation-related barking at first, but settles down after a while Uses barking to express wants, especially toward other dogs during play Very responsive and perceptive—he reads human emotions well and quickly understands boundaries Calm and quiet in a kennel Rides well in a crate and gets in and out of the car on his own Currently does outdoor potty   Personality Taki is a simple, pure-hearted, and joyful dog who brings warmth and happiness to those around him. His innocent and loving nature makes him incredibly endearing. Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram! Story
MEET SWEET LUKE! Luke is a happy & lovable 4-1/2-year-old Pointer/Pit/Boxer/Lab mix in need of a foster or forever home! He had been adopted, but his owner died, and so he went back into our rescue. Luke is currently in Washington and ready to meet! He has a wonderful disposition: He gets along great with other dogs and is very loving and affectionate to his people. He also loves to fetch balls and bring them back to you. Luke also isn't a big barker, unless someone barks at him. He walks well on a leash, and is a strong boy. He doesn't shed much! Luke also loves treats and is very treat motivated. He has done well with some cats but not others. He was rescued from a California shelter originally after he became urgent for lack of space. While there, he was kenneled with another female dog and did great. He's been tested with numerous dogs and has done well with everyone. He's a loving, easygoing boy who needs a home! Luke currently weighs about 60 lbs. Please email for an application.

Story
MattyIce has one love language, and it's you. Specifically you, all the time, preferably within arm's reach. She's a sweet, easygoing girl who gets along with other dogs and cats just fine, but if we’re being honest, she's not really looking for a roommate situation…she’s a people-centered pup. She wants someone who wants a velcro dog. Someone who will be around, pay attention, and occasionally let her burrow her face into their chest and just stay there for a while. (Her foster does this regularly and reports that it is, in fact, as good as it sounds). MattyIce is pretty quiet around the house. She doesn't bark much, except to let you know that breakfast is taking longer than she'd like, which is a completely reasonable complaint and frankly, we support her. She loves playing with toys, rides well in the car, and is food motivated. Stairs aren't really her thing, but she's working around it. Potty training is still a work in progress, but keep in mind, she just started learning! She goes outside often but has had some accidents inside, so she'll need some patience and consistency on that front while she gets settled. She gets a little nervous in new settings, so a calm, predictable environment will do wonders for her. She hasn't been around young kids, so a quieter, adult home is probably her sweet spot. A single person who works from home? That might just be her dream scenario. Her foster would keep her in a heartbeat, but thinks that she just deserves more one-on-one time than foster life allows, and somewhere out there is exactly the right person with exactly that to give. MattyIce just wants to be loved. If that sounds up your alley? She wants to meet you! -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED! Calliope is one of our long-timers, and has been waiting for a foster or her forever home with us for 3 years! She is an energetic and playful girl and will make her forever family very happy! Calliope is a Pointer/Labrador Retriever mix, she weighs around 60 lbs and is ~4 years old. Calliope is active, and she will need a family that can keep her properly exercised. She loves the outdoors, and would make a great hiking or running partner! She would love her very own fenced yard to run and play with her family. Calliope is very sweet and can get over excited, especially in a kennel environment, she will thrive in a home that can provide continued support of basic obedience and working on not jumping when excited. Because she is large and jumpy, we are recommending no small children as she could accidently knock them over. Calliope has been doing great on walks with other dog friends in our care. She is not tested with cats. Calliope is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $450.

Story
Marvin is a sweet and noble dog, 1.5 years old and 30 pounds. He was hanging around the shelter for a couple of weeks, he was given food, water and some love, but we decided to take him in when he arrived really injured and covered in blood, we think he was attacked by dogs. Fortunately in his medical checkup he didn't come out with many problems, and he is now healthy and ready for his new home! He knows how to coexist with other dogs, although he has his temper, he is usually very tolerant with effusive puppies. He likes to sleep in his giant bed, is crate-trained, house-trained and is sociable and friendly with new people. He knows how to ride in a car, and smiles when you scold him, he is adorable! We don't know exactly what breed he is, google lens finds a resemblance to an English Pointer and Andalusian ratter. The $550.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to Oregon or Washington. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date. Microchip. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Collar. Temporary leash.

These pups are in Seattle, Washington too!

Looking for a loving family for my dog Pip. She is energetic, loving, very obedient, and extremely smart. She loves playing fetch, she's great at frisbee, and she loves to swim. She's extremely trainable, very food motivated, and she loves to please her humans while looking out for the kids of the family. Pip is 5 years old (just turned 5 this month!) and I've had her since she was only a few weeks old. Pip would make an amazing pet for a family with kids that is looking for a loyal, obedient, and playful pup with lots of love to give. 💜 Please cont me if you have any questions about her, or to arrange PS - Re: My Work Situation: My job right now requires me to be traveling to SF 25% of the time, and I've had to frequently board Pip while traveling, which is taxing on her and all of us. I'd like to find a family with hopefully two parents and one or more kid(s) - since she truly loves people and is always happiest being in company with people she knows and loves around her.

Story
Hi, my name is Brax! I’m approximately seven months old and weigh around 35 pounds. My people think I may be a German Short Haired Pointer/Blue Heeler mix-but whatever I am, I’m 100% lovable! I have a heart as big as Texas and truly love everyone I meet. I was found roaming a neighborhood with a few other dogs, with no owner in sight. Thankfully, a kind person stopped to help me, and now I’m safe and ready to find my forever home. I’m so grateful for my second chance! I’m a well-mannered boy, both house trained and crate trained. I have never chewed on anything I was not suppose to, but I have plenty of toys in my foster home. I walk on a leash and absolutely love getting out and about—whether it’s a neighborhood stroll or a future hiking adventure (hint hint) I am a smart pup and already know a few commands. I’m dog friendly and would be happy to have a furry sibling, but I’d also do just fine soaking up all the love as your one and only. I have been socialized with both large and small breed dogs. I have never been around cats so my people are going to say no to a home with furry felines. My people describe me as sweet, energetic and well-rounded—the kind of dog who fits right into a family and makes every day a little brighter. I might be better suited for kids eight and up because I am a rambunctious puppy that could accidentally know over a smaller child. I have been around children starting with the age of 9. There are nine grandkids that come to visit. I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped—ready to go home with you! Could I be your perfect match? Please email adopt@thezoeygroup.com for application instructions.

Hi, my name is Snickers! I am approximately 18 months old and weigh 50 pounds. I am a beautiful girl with all my spots. My people think I may be a German Short Pointer mix. I am good with other dogs and welcome fur friends to play with. I have never been around cats so my people are going to say no to a home with Furry felines. I love people. If you have pets and hugs, I am willing to receive them. I am a sweet girl with a lot of love to give. I am not a crazy barking dog. I can be as energetic as needed but I also know how to calm down. If you need a pup to just hang out with and provide company then I am your girl. I ride well in the car and love to feel the wind in my face. I can totally envision myself at an outside cafe just people watching. How fun would that be?! I am house trained and walk well on a leash. I love to be out and about and go on grand adventures. Camping?! Bring on the s’mores! I am healthy, spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. If interested in applying, please email adopt@thezoeygroup.com for application instructions.
