Story
Meet Mabel! This little Pug is a 6-year-old female who currently weighs 16.5 pounds. Mabel is a true cuddle bug who loves being close to her people and gets along with every dog she meets. She is not very vocal, but you can always locate her when she’s asleep thanks to the impressive volume of her snores. While she cannot be bothered with furry fashion trends, she is slowly getting used to wearing her harness. She enjoys spending time outdoors, but leash walking is still a work in progress, so she would do best in a home with access to a fenced-in yard. Housebreaking is also ongoing. She does give clear signals when she needs to go out, either by scratching at a vertical surface or lifting her leg. When Mabel first arrived, she showed little interest in food or treats, but now she waits excitedly anytime the refrigerator opens. She is an absolute doll and would make a wonderful addition to a home that can provide plenty of cuddles and, of course, snacks. Mabel is currently being fostered in Wayne, NJ. Her adoption fee is $600. Mabel is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well. "To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Aretha! I’m a very sweet 6-year-old Puggle/Chihuahua gal with a beautiful face that puts a smile on your face , and I have soft black-and-tan coat. At just 18 pounds, I’m the perfect size—small enough to snuggle but cute enough to strut with style! I’m thriving in a loving foster home and enjoy spending time with my foster siblings, but I’d be just as happy as your one-and-only, soaking up all your attention. I walk nicely on a leash and love going out in the city to say hello to everyone I meet. I’ve been fully vetted, spayed, and am up to date on all my vaccinations. All I need now is a forever home where I can keep blossoming and share all the love I have to give. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle companion who’s ready to love and be loved, I might just be your girl. Apply to adopt me here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/POSH/Dog

Story
Meet our super sweet and gentle 5-year-old pug girl. She’s shy and still learning the world, but gaining confidence and trust in humans every day. She’s a bit weary of the busy NYC streets and not yet fully leash-trained, so for now she feels safest inside. House training is a work in progress—she has occasional accidents and hasn’t mastered potty pads—but she’s tidy and never destructive! She is friendly with other dogs, and would likely do well in a home with another dog who can teach her the go around. She relaxes best in her crate (dim lights + soft music = bliss), and once she feels safe there, she’ll happily accept gentle pets. She eats and drinks well, sleeps through the night, and her curiosity about toys shows a playful spark. She needs a calm, patient home that celebrates small wins. If you love helping dogs blossom, she’ll be your little soulmate and she loves some cheese! 3 Keywords for your pup: Sweet, shy, curious!Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 6Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Occasional barkerWalking Manners: She needs patience learning how to walk on a leash. Appetite: Great!Favorite Things: Sleeping in a comfy crate  ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs. Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States and Korea. ##2487032##

Story
Meet Corto! 🐾 She's about 1 year and 6 months old and 40 lbs. Built like a little meatball and just as sweet, named after an iconic Jersey City Heights restaurant. Corto is a low rider pug/beagle mix with short legs, a big heart, and an obsession with attention. She truly loves everyone she meets, and when she’s happy, her whole body wiggles! Originally from Queens ACC, Corto is showing us just how special she is. She’s potty and crate trained, rarely barks, and eager to please. She already knows sit and paw, loves fetch, enjoys long walks, and absolutely lives for scratches and cuddles. Corto is friendly with other dogs and settles easily into new environments. She loves being part of everyday life but also knows how to relax, she can fall asleep just about anywhere! If you’re looking for a social, affectionate companion with a compact build and a heart full of love, Corto is ready to bring charm, and endless joy into your home! Corto's microchipped, and up to date on all core vaccines. Story
Meet Jaxx 💙 At 8 years old and 42 lbs, Jaxx is stepping into a new chapter after being surrendered by his owner. Change isn’t easy, but Jaxx seems ready to see what’s next. His previous owner reports that he has some anxiety and does not enjoy being held (which feels fair… he’s 42 lbs after all!). He prefers keeping all four paws on the ground and having his space respected. Jaxx has previously lived with other dogs and cats and reportedly did well, though he hasn’t made any close dog friends at the shelter just yet. What we’ve seen? He’s easy on leash, playful, and happy to engage. He enjoys moving, exploring, and being part of the action without needing to be carried around like a baby. Jaxx feels like a dog who just wants a steady routine, clear expectations, and someone ready for a loyal sidekick. He’s 8 years young, past the puppy chaos, and ready for his next home. 🏡✨ Meet Jaxx in Tinton Falls, NJ
