Story
Adoptable Roscoe 🐾 If you’re looking for a dog who is essentially a tiny, vibrating ball of pure happiness, look no further. This handsome guy was found as a stray, but he doesn’t seem to care one bit! The Stats: Age: Our best guess is around 1 year old. Breed: Your guess is as good as ours, but we’re seeing some Pug/Chihuahua vibes. Size: he’s around 15–20 lbs but on the lean side. Signature Look: A very charming, very prominent underbite. He might not be “traditional” pageant material, but he is a 10/10 in the personality department. The Personality: This boy is pure “joy.” He is super funny, always on the move, and looking for a more active household. If you’re a couch potato, he might be a bit much for you- he wants to be where the action is! He is a total social butterfly and hasn’t met a stranger yet. He loves other dogs big and small! In fact, he is currently obsessed with his 90 lb German Shepherd foster brother. He clearly has no idea how small he is. He had no idea what toys are and he doesn’t really seem to know how to engage in proper play with other dogs (he is a humper) but he is learning! All the dogs in his foster home are super playful, patient and tolerant of awkward doggies and are helping him learn- so any new resident dogs should also be the same. While he has not been exposed to kids or cats, we think he can adapt with boundaries in place! The Good Boy Report: Potty Training: Doing amazing! No accidents in the house so far. Crate Training: Currently a work in progress, but he’s putting in the effort. If you want a dog who will make you laugh every single day and fill your home with non-stop positive energy, this is your guy. Interested in adding some joy to your life? Story
Chucky is the sweetest girl dog you could ever meet. She is calm, gentle, and full of quiet love. She is very attentive and affectionate, and once she warms up to you, she becomes incredibly loyal and deeply bonded.   She loves to cuddle and be close to her person. She enjoys being loved and returns that love in her own soft, steady way. Chucky also enjoys being out and about—she likes the city, trains, shopping trips, and discovering new places.   She is good with other dogs, especially if they are spayed or neutered. She is not aggressive or overly hyper. She rarely barks—only occasionally if someone comes to the door. She enjoys her food, likes her rest, and is very patient while waiting for you to come home.   Chucky is pee-pad trained. She does have occasional accidents if her routine is disrupted, but otherwise she does very well when she has structure and consistency.   She has been with us for a while and needed time to adjust, but once she feels safe, her personality truly shines. She does need someone who will take proper care of her and gently take charge in a calm, confident way to help her get used to you. Building trust with her may take some time, but it is worth it. When she feels secure, she opens up completely and lets you into her world in the most beautiful way   Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States and Korea. ##2487032##

Story
Richard — 6 y/o male pug, 16 lbs, one-eyed wonder, coming all the way from California to NYC! Ladies and gentlemen, meet Richard. A distinguished gentleman of six years, sixteen pounds, and exactly one very expressive eye — because who needs two when you've got this much personality? Richard's story is a bit of a mystery. We don't know much about his life before rescue, but here's what we do know: he is an absolute charmer. He loves people. He loves other dogs. He greets the world with the kind of easy confidence that only a pug who knows exactly how good-looking he is could pull off. That missing eye? Not a flaw — a signature look. Richard doesn't do "vision impaired." Richard does "distinguished." He's spent time in a wonderful foster home on the west coast, but despite his obvious charisma, the right family hasn't found him yet. So Richard is doing what any confident New Yorker-to-be would do: packing his bags and heading east. Because if there's one place that will appreciate a small dog with a big personality and zero interest in blending in, it's New York City. Richard is flying into LGA (date TBD) and is eligible for foster-to-adopt — meaning he'll need to walk straight from the airport into a home ready to love him from day one. No holding pattern, no shelter stopover. Just Richard, his one eye, and his enormous heart, looking for the family who'll finally give him the forever he's been waiting for. This one's going to be popular. Get your applications in early — Richard doesn't do waiting rooms. His flight's already being booked, and his people are out there somewhere. Note: No additional photos, video or information about Richard is available at this time. Learn more about the foster-to-adopt program. Richard will likely need continued house-training and leash/obedience training.  Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, heartworm negative, microchipped and neutered. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Richard, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for a foster application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. **If placed outside of the 5 boroughs, must be willing to transport Dulce back to NYC for veterinary care and/or adoption events.** Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2785440##

Story
Ted - 10 to 12 years old, 18lbs, Pug/Chi Mix, Neutered  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Our Team Says: "Ted is a very special boy with Pulmonary Hypertension  - please read below for more info"  Their Foster Parent Says: "Ted is a very sweet and very shy boy, but he is getting braver and opening up more and more every day. He does great in all kinds of public situations and will accompany you on your walk to the coffee shop or to a fun weekend brunch spot, where he expects at least 4 french fries. He is very treat-motivated but is polite with his meals and likes to graze throughout the day. Napping on the sofa or at your feet while you work is his main daytime activity. He also loves chewing on his stick and gazing out the window. He is very curious about what the people are up to and will follow to observe you (just in case you're getting a treat). Ted would love a backyard that he can freely explore and hang out in when the weather is nice, but he also loves wandering around the city, so it's not a must. Ted is very patient and doesn't mind when you leave; he will curl up and snooze or stare out the window while you're away. He is still very shy with other dogs in public but seems to open up and like them when they are in the apartment, so a companion for him would be nice! He is still very nervous when being picked up in public, so it's best to travel with a carrier if going on the subway. He will require meds 3x a day for his heart but usually eats it with no complaints with a pill pocket or piece of Parmesan. Ted is such a sweetheart, and his quirks are to be expected for a dog that has never lived in a home, but he is adapting very quickly and would make an excellent companion for someone living a slower pace of life." Level of dog ownership experience needed:BEGINNER: This means we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale due to its breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup.  MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60  minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Medical statusHe was HW positive when he was rescued in PR. He was treated for it and then he came to us.   A few months after his arrival he was hospitalized for having a hard time breathing. He landed with the diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension - mostly likely a side effect of being treated for heartworm and having had heartworm for a long time. This condition requires daily medications and monitoring. At the end of October he went for a check up and an echo. The good news is his heart hasn't gotten worse but it hasn't gotten better - it's the same as it was when he was hospitalized. He just had another Ultrasound  - May 2026 and his heart remains the same - which is good news. He is to continue with his medication. Neutered, UTD on vaccines.  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes.
