Story
Meet Evie! Evie was pulled from a small overcrowded rural shelter. She was pregnant and had her litter at our rescue. She was a fantastic mom and is a great dog! She gets along great with other dogs and is maternal with puppies, but has not been tested with cats. She is a people pleaser and wants all the attention. She would very much love to chase a squirrel or bird. She is an eager pleaser and learns quickly. She is great in the house and is both house and crate trained. She rides great in the car and her favorite thing in the world is getting pets and belly rubs. She pulls on the leash so someone who can work with her on leash would be great for her. She comes when called and just wants to be your snuggle buddy. She is not a big barker and is relatively quiet. She is a messy drinker so a splashless water bowl is recommended. She will stick her entire snout in the water so she may really enjoy swimming. Come see Evie at The River Lane, 7 Main Street, Essex, CT on June 28th and 29th, from 11:00am to 4:00pm. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ANY OF OUR DOGS PLEASE APPLY ONLINE IMMEDIATELY. See www.godogdays.org for details. Here is more information about me: GENERAL BEHAVIOR AND IDEAL HOME: Most rescues will not adopt out dogs, including puppies, to families with children under the age of 6 years old. Rescues will not allow dogs or puppies to go to homes where they will be crated during the full work day. The rescue has noticed this dog is generally good with dogs. However dogs, like people, act differently in different settings and a new adopter should expect there will be an adjustment period of time before before the dog settles in to a new home. At this time we ONLY adopt to residents of the state of Connecticut who live no more than one hour from the event site. GENERAL VETERINARY CARE: I have been ~ spayed/neutered ~ microchipped ~ dewormed ~ heartworm-tested negative if dog is of age to be tested ( 6 months or older) ~ up to date on all age appropriate shots ~ treated with a flea preventative ADOPTION FEES Rescues participating in our events are not allowed to charge more than $450 an adoption fee and some adoption fees are much less - it depends on what the rescue chooses to charge - Dog Days does not take any portion of the adoption fees. ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION FORM: https://redletterbusiness.wufoo.com/forms/find-my-new-best-friend/ (Copy and paste to browser.) ADOPTION PROCESS - Before the Event If you would like to begin the application process, please fill in the form at the link above and we will review your information, call your personal and well as vet references. PLEASE Fill in the application if you're interested in adoption, this will save you time at the event. We hope you will understand the careful scrutiny of potential adopters is not only for the safety and well-being of the dog but also for a positive experience for your household. Thank you for saving the life of a shelter dog through adoption; you are truly a hero. -- A letter from your vet on their letterhead will also be very helpful if they won't be open for us to call as a reference. -- If you are renting, please note you must have a written letter of permission from your landlord to own a dog on their property. Dog Days will be conducting interviews of prospective adopters. -- If you have never owned a dog and therefore do not have a vet reference let us know right away and we'll try to do a home visit before the adoption weekend. First time adopters need a quick home visit to make sure they are ready to take a dog home for the first time. ADOPTION PROCESS - During the Event Weekend -- Plan on spending at least three to four hours going through the adoption process. We want you to be completely confident in your new pal so we will ask you to speak to a trainer, a veterinarian as well as interview with a member of our adoption team and the rescue. -- As a policy, Dog Days will not hold dogs for potential adopters so it is important to come to the event by 11:00am Saturday morning if you have your heart set on a particular dog. -- PLEASE NOTE THAT DOGS ARE GIVEN TO THE BEST HOME, NOT FIRST IN LINE. -- At this time we ONLY adopt to residents of the state of Connecticut who live no more than one hour from the event site. Each dog and puppy has been seen by a Connecticut veterinarian who will also be on site to answer any questions you may have. We'll have professional groomers on site to give your new pal a bath before you take them home (no charge) and our adoption bags will give you information and samples for use at home. See www.godogdays.org for details.

Story
Belle is a rescue we have had since October '21. She's Mixed Breed with 50% Rottweiler. (embark DNA results available) She is smart and playful, she loves toys and dog chews. Belle does not like to be on a leash or go for walks, she prefers to run and play in the yard. On nice days she loves to spend time outside laying in the sun. She is house trained and comes immediately (and eagerly) when called, she is very enthusiastic. When left alone for any period, she welcomes us home with excitement and zoomies. She sleeps in our bed, and makes a good home companion. She would do well as an only pet for a couple or single and room to play outside. She loves attention, lots of petting and cuddles. It breaks our heart to let her go, but she does not get along with her 'fur sibling' who is much older and more well established in the family. She will be timid at first, until she gets comfortable, then she will come out of her shell and be wonderful. She's fully rotted and spayed.

This 8-month-old Boxer/Lab/Mastiff mix is a sweet, goofy, and lovable pup who’s ready to find a place (and people) to finally call home. 💛 He may still be young, but Dingo’s already got some serious manners under his collar—he knows sit, stay, high five, and shake (and yes, he’ll happily show off his tricks in exchange for a treat or two). He’s crate and house trained, fully vetted, and working hard to be the best boy on the block. Dingo has lived with other dogs, cats, and kids, and gets along great with just about everyone. He’s got a soft spot for kindness and routine—he’s been bounced around a bit through no fault of his own, so he’s ready for some stability and lots of love. His ideal day? A morning hike, an afternoon nap, a little toy time, and then snuggling up with his humans. Loud noises can make him a bit nervous, so a calm, reassuring home would be perfect. Dingo’s Highlights: • 50 lbs of love and potential 🐶 • Trick master: sit, stay, shake, high five ✋ • House + crate trained ✅ • Gentle, goofy, and ready for a forever family 💖 If you’re looking for a young dog with a heart of gold, Dingo is your guy. You bring the leash, he’ll bring the love. Visit www.wtfarmtn.org to submit an adoption application for Dingo!
