We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! Story
Rags is a very friendly and chill Rottie mix who was luckily rescued by his foster. He was found walking down a median on a busy road in Detroit. Rags currently lives with several other dogs and is very loving and sweet. It appeared he was not very well taken care of when found. He has an overbite which was probably congenital that causes his tongue to stick out. He had heartworm disease when we first got him but he was treated and is now healthy and heartworm negative. Rags is about 72 pounds and estimated to be about 9 years old. Rags has a good personality and would love to finally find a wonderful new family to love and care for him. This fellow definitely deserves it. Please consider making him a new addition to your home or companion for another friendly dog.

Story
Meet Monty!Monty is a loyal, calm, confident, protective, and full of heart dog with his people. He also has a silly side and will throw toys in the air and self entertain. Here is the scoop on Monty:-Monty requires a fenced in yard. Any type of fencing will do. -Seems to prefer female dogs over male dogs, but a dog to dog meet is mandatory for both -No young kids. Kids 13+ please!-No cats or small dogsAdditionally, training Monty should always be positive. No harsh methods for this handsome guy. No shock collars, prong collars, choke chains, or dominating techniques for Monty. With the right owners, Monty will be your devoted companion and protector, ready to give you all my love. Thank you for reading about me and I hope to see you soon!*If your application was approved and you received a call back from the Humane Society of Macomb for a meet and greet, plan to take the animal home that day. Be prepared to adopt and to bring a home a new family member. We cannot place adult dogs on hold to come pick up for another day.Thank you for showing an interest in our pets. We can never guarantee the breeds of the animals. We do not DNA test. Please feel free to call us with any questions.
