Story
Rags is a very friendly and chill Rottie mix who was luckily rescued by his foster. He was found walking down a median on a busy road in Detroit. Rags currently lives with several other dogs and is very loving and sweet. It appeared he was not very well taken care of when found. He has an overbite which was probably congenital that causes his tongue to stick out. He had heartworm disease when we first got him but he was treated and is now healthy and heartworm negative. Rags is about 72 pounds and estimated to be about 9 years old. Rags has a good personality and would love to finally find a wonderful new family to love and care for him. This fellow definitely deserves it. Please consider making him a new addition to your home or companion for another friendly dog.

Story
Meet Baby Bop – Queen of Tennis Balls and Devotion Baby Bop doesn’t go anywhere without her emotional support tennis ball. It’s her favorite thing in the world—well, second only to her favorite people. This big, blocky-headed Rottie mix is a true original. She’s part goofball, part bulldozer, and one hundred percent heart. At around 90 pounds, she’s not exactly dainty—but her full-body tail wags and joyful energy make it hard not to smile when she barrels into the room. She’s affectionate in the most wonderfully ridiculous ways—dramatic side-eyes, sloppy kisses, and an unwavering commitment to being as close to you as physically possible. Personal space? Not her thing. But loving you with her whole entire being? Absolutely. Baby Bop is a few years old and has been waiting far too long in the shelter for someone to see just how special she is. She’s not a fan of sharing her space with other dogs, though she isn’t reactive—she simply prefers to be your one and only. She’s smart, stubborn, and snoozes like it’s an Olympic sport. She’s ready to leave the shelter behind and start the next chapter of her life: full-time best friend, loyal sidekick, and champion ball chaser. If you’re looking for a big-hearted dog with a big personality to match, Baby Bop is waiting. Tennis ball in mouth, hope in her heart. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
For months, Debo has been waiting by the door, hoping his dad would come home. When his owner was hospitalized, kind neighbors stepped in to care for him, believing it was only temporary—that soon, they’d see the joyful reunion of a dog and his best friend. But that day never came. His dad has passed away, and now Debo is left with a heart full of love and no one to give it to. At six years old, this big, gentle Rottweiler still has so much life left to live. He is as sweet as they come—affectionate, loyal, and happiest when he’s close to his people. He adores human companionship, greets everyone with warmth, and just wants to be loved in return. He’s crate trained, well-mannered, and great with kids and other dogs, though he does need slow introductions as he forms deep bonds and can be a little too eager to show his affection. Debo isn’t just looking for a home—he’s searching for someone to fill the space in his heart that his dad left behind. He’s looking for a family to lean on, someone who will reassure him that he’ll never be alone again. Right now, he’s in a temporary foster home, but his time there is running out. He needs a safe place, whether that’s a foster family to help him heal or a forever home where he can finally feel secure again. Debo has so much love to give. Could you be the one to give him a second chance? Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Hi, I'm Pollo! Let's start with the question I know you're all wondering about-my name! It's Pollo (pronounced POY-ow), which means "chicken" in Spanish. And yes, there's a story behind it. Before I arrived at FMAR, I made quite the impression... by eating a chicken! That bold move earned me this unforgettable name-and I've been living up to it ever since. I'm a bright, spirited boy who's been patiently waiting for my forever home at FMAR for over five years. When I first arrived as a stray, I was in rough shape-but with time, care, and love, I've truly blossomed. Now I'm ready to find that special someone who sees how wonderful I really am. For a long time, people guessed I was mostly Pit Bull Terrier, but thanks to a volunteer and a DNA test, we discovered my unique blend: 52% Rottweiler 27% American Pit Bull Terrier 16% American Staffordshire Terrier 3% American Bulldog My Rottweiler coloring really shines in the sun, and so does my personality! One of my biggest dreams is to become an agility dog. I love when the volunteers set up obstacle courses-it gives me a chance to show off my impressive jumping skills! When I'm not on the move, you'll find me lounging in the yard, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the moment. I know all kinds of obedience commands, and walk perfectly on leash. I never pull towards cats or other dogs as I am completely focused on enjoying my walk! I can be a little shy at first, but with some patience (and treats!), I'll warm up quickly and become your best friend. I need an owner that understands that I've had a journey, and who can continue helping me thrive. I enjoy short walks, LOTS of couch time, a fenced in yard, and brain games that keep me mentally engaged. Above all, I just want someone to love. If you're looking for a loyal, smart, and loving companion, come meet me-Pollo! I'm ready to show you just how special I am. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which covers part of the medical care I have received. **Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Meet Bobby- The Gentle Giant! Bobby is a 3-year-old Rottweiler mix with a heart as big as his adorable, low-riding frame. Weighing in at 97 lbs, Bobby is currently on a journey toward a healthier weight. While he’s considered a large dog now, we expect him to settle into more of a medium size with some regular walks and a nutritious diet — and he's already making great progress! Bobby has a calm, gentle nature and is incredibly sweet with the people he knows well. He's a bit shy when meeting new people, but give him a little time (and maybe a few treats), and you’ll quickly see his affectionate side. He’s the kind of dog who bonds deeply, quietly loyal and full of love once he feels safe. He previously lived in an outdoor kennel with another dog, and we haven’t seen him show any negative reactions to other dogs at our shelter. Because of his prey drive, we don’t believe Bobby would be a good fit for a home with cats. As for children, we think Bobby would thrive in a home with older kids or younger children who understand his need for patience and gentle interactions. Bobby’s story is one of resilience and quiet hope. He came from C.H.A.I.N.E.D, a Detroit rescue organization that helps dogs living chained outside. Bobby and his kennel-mate had never known a cozy home — just a shared outdoor kennel, hay for bedding, and a heated igloo to keep them warm. When their family moved to Mexico and couldn’t take the dogs with them, we stepped in to give Bobby a second chance. His neighbor, Poncho, came with him — and now they’re both looking for loving forever homes. Bobby is ready for a life he’s never known: one with soft beds, regular walks, plenty of love, and a human who sees how special he is. He just needs someone patient, kind, and willing to help him continue his journey toward confidence and comfort. If you’re looking for a calm, sweet companion with soulful eyes and a gentle heart, Bobby might just be your perfect match. Come meet him and see what a little love can do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Bobby, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs.
