Barkley is a sweet 5 yr old rottie mix. She has been in rescue over 3 years. She needs to find her forever home. She does have a high prey drive, so no cats or small dogs. She has done absolutely fine with older children. She has not been exposed to smaller kids other than walking through the store and did fine. She has been completely vetted and is house and crate trained. She loves her belly rubs and will often wait for you to give her one before coming inside. She has no issues

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Tulip Fondness A18192173 lb. spayed female, approx 3 years old -This sweet girl is still finding her footing and taking the world in one sniff at a time. On leash, she’s strong and determined, with her nose leading the way, so she’ll do best with someone who’s comfortable handling a powerful puller and open to working on leash skills together.-Once inside, she took a little time to settle, exploring at her own pace before warming up. Treats helped her feel more confident, and she showed off her manners by sitting when asked, taking snacks gently, and even catching them like a pro! As she relaxed, her affectionate side began to bloom — she came over for pets, sweetly pawed for attention, and happily leaned in for more love.-With a bit more time and reassurance, she truly blossomed. She followed along to a cozy spot, sat close, soaked up affection, and eventually rolled over to offer her belly — a sure sign of growing trust. She’s not into toys right now, but people? Very much yes.-This girl is a tender soul who just needs patience, consistency, and a calm home to help her fully relax and shine. With the right person, she’s going to be a deeply loving and loyal companion. 🐾💖Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids •Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Story
Rags is a very friendly and chill Rottie mix who was luckily rescued by his foster. He was found walking down a median on a busy road in Detroit. Rags currently lives with several other dogs and is very loving and sweet. It appeared he was not very well taken care of when found. He has an overbite which was probably congenital that causes his tongue to stick out. He had heartworm disease when we first got him but he was treated and is now healthy and heartworm negative. Rags is about 75 pounds and estimated to be about 10 years old. Rags has a good personality and would love to finally find a wonderful new family to love and care for him. This fellow definitely deserves it. Please consider making him a new addition to your home or companion for another friendly dog.

Story
Coco is the sweetest of girls and is looking for her forever family. She is a little shy and prefers a calm environment. She loves other dogs and plays well with her 3 foster siblings. She loves a good game of chase, and she loves to chew on antlers and toys that squeak. Coco gets excited to go on car rides and is ready to go whenever you pick up the keys. She rides very well in the car. She has had some training and is great with 'sit' and 'down' and offering her paw. She is working on reinforcing the 'stay' and 'come' commands with her foster parents. She would do best with a fenced yard and supervision (at first anyhow). Her previous family reported a tendency to run off. Her foster family has seen no such behavior. Coco is housetrained and is a bit afraid of her crate - which is being worked on. She sleeps all night on her dog bed in the master bedroom. She is a cuddler and wants to be close to her people. If you are looking for a sweet, loyal companion, then Coco is the girl for you!FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. The adoption fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea/Tick/Heartworm Prevention, and Sheltering. Adult Dogs are Heartworm Tested and Treated as Needed. FOCCAS does not DNA test or guarantee breed. My adoption fee (if picked up locally in Crossville, Tennessee) is $350. This adorable spirited little boy and his siblings came in to rescue last winter after they were dumped on a back country road. Their mother was found deceased, so we took the puppies in to try to save them. They were very sick initially but are very healthy now. Barnabas is a gentle little boy, but dose love to run and play with other dogs. He has done amazing with his house and crate training. He is so deserving of a wonderful home to call his own. Story
Meet Pepper & Princess – A Beautiful Boxer Duo 💕 Pepper and her daughter Princess are a bonded pair of Boxers with hearts as big as their smiles. They came into our rescue several months ago after their owner experienced life changes and could no longer care for them. When they arrived, both girls were underweight and had never received proper veterinary care. They were heartworm positive and neither had been spayed. Thanks to the love and dedication of our rescue, Pepper and Princess are now fully up to date on vaccines and have successfully completed heartworm treatment. They’ve come such a long way and are healthier, happier, and ready for their next chapter. Personality-wise, these two are absolute gems. They are incredibly sweet, gentle, and polite — no jumping here! They do wonderfully with other dogs, puppies, and even cats. Their calm, loving nature makes them a joy to be around. Pepper and Princess are crate trained and stay in their crates when left home alone. Their crates are their cozy, safe spaces, and they settle in without any issues. These girls would thrive in a home where they can truly be part of the family — lounging nearby, soaking up love, and enjoying life together. Because of their close bond, it would be a dream come true for them to be adopted together, though the most important thing is finding them a loving, stable home. If you’re looking for loyal companions with gentle hearts and a touching story of resilience, Pepper and Princess may be the perfect match for you. If you are interested in these two girls, please message us and we will send you an application. They are being fostered in MS but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road!
