Story
🌟 Meet Marcy 🌟 Marcy is a gorgeous Rottweiler/Shepherd mix with a heart full of potential. Life hasn’t given her much socialization, so the big world feels pretty scary right now. She needs an experienced, patient adopter who understands dogs with shy or cautious personalities. Marcy does well with most dogs when introduced properly, but her strong prey drive means cats aren’t a good match. She’ll let you know if she’s uncomfortable by growling, so she needs someone who respects her boundaries and will help her build trust at her own pace. Because quick movements and unpredictability make her nervous, a home without young children would be best. What Marcy really needs is that special person willing to invest the time, patience, and love to help her blossom into the incredible dog she was meant to be. Could you be the one to help Marcy’s true spirit shine? 💕

Story
Oliver is a 2.5-year-old neutered Rottweiler who’s house-trained, knows basic commands, and doesn’t chew on things. He’s generally a very good boy, and well-mannered. He doesn’t need a crate, but we’ll be sending one along with him just in case — plus a 3-month supply of food. That said, Oliver cannot be in a home with small children or small animals. He has shown aggressive behavior toward them and can no longer be trusted in a home like ours, which includes little ones. We are heartbroken to let him go, but safety must come first. We’re also willing to help pay for a professional dog trainer to work on his reactivity and help him adjust to a new, appropriate environment. If you or someone you know has the right setup and experience — an adult-only home, no other small pets, and the time and heart to help him thrive — please reach out.

Story
Meet Karl! Karl is a 4-year-old Rottweiler mix (about 70 lbs) with a heart as big as his bark. Don’t let his voice fool you—this handsome guy is as sweet as they come. He loves nothing more than doing zoomies in the yard, going on long walks where he can sniff every interesting smell, and ending the day with snuggles from his favorite people.Karl is also a true gentleman—he’s not jumpy, and even when he’s running around the yard, he slows down before greeting you with his calm, happy energy. He`s also an absolute angel on the leash! We haven`t had the chance to formally introduce him to another dog here, but what we`ve observed so far is that he`s very calm and not too interested in other dogs or cats. He`s been in close contact with cats on our property and not shown any reaction. The dogs he has gotten close to and has had a good reaction to are some of our calmer dogs. However, we believe that with the correct introductions, Karl could thrive in a home with other siblings whether they be canine, feline or human. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with the perfect mix of playful energy and cuddle-worthy sweetness, Karl is ready to be your guy. If you would like to meet Karl, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Karl`s adoption fee is $250, which covers part of the medical care he has received.**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Meet Riley – Your New Adventure Buddy! Hi there! My name is Riley, and I was born April 6th 2025. I am a rottweiler mix with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging. I might be small now, but I’ve got a big personality and even bigger dreams—like finding my forever family! A Little About Me: I’m sweet and cuddly—the perfect snuggle buddy after a day of play. I’m a quick learner and super smart and eager to learn! I love other dogs and would be thrilled to have a furry sibling to romp around with. The great outdoors is my happy place—walks, grass, sunshine? Yes, please! I can be a little shy at first, but once I warm up, I’ll be your loyal shadow. I’m happiest when I’m right by your side, whether we’re exploring or just relaxing. I’m looking for a family who will be patient as I grow, teach me new things, and give me all the love I deserve. In return, I promise to be your best friend, your adventure partner, and your biggest fan. Applicants should have a fenced in yard and be within 30min of Toledo, Ohio. Are you ready to fall in love? If you’ve been holding out for a Hero, now is your chance! Hero is a 2-year-old Rottweiler full of playful energy who would love to be your buddy! Some of Hero’s favorite things are people, toys, playing tug, belly rubs, and being outside. Hero loves other dogs, does well sleeping in his cage overnight and when home alone, and is neutered and up to date on vaccines. Because of Hero’s size and energy, he would do better in a home with older children. Hero’s forever family must have a fenced-in yard and live within 45 miles of Toledo. Story
Coffee is a beautiful rottweiler who was at risk of getting shot after being dumped on a rural property. She was heartworm positive but has been treated for it. She has stubby tail. She has been good with male and female dogs medium to large but has not been around small dogs or cats. She is very very friendly with people. She walks well on the leash. She is currently still in Oklahoma where she was rescued but she can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take her in or she will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) All dogs/cats can be adopted in all locations below, regardless of where they are posted. Story
Brandy is a 3 year old Boxer that is very sweet. I adopted her from a humane society at 8 months old. The only thing the humane society could tell me at the time was she didn’t have much or any socialization at that time. She is still shy around people but has never tried biting anyone when they would approach her to pet her. Her personality is laying next to me on the couch and loves being petted, she like a couch potato ,she very calm in the house except when it’s time to eat then she gets a little excited. She doesn’t chew on anything but her toys. She is completely potty trained. The only reason I need to rehome her is because my older dog is not getting along with her anymore and I’m afraid that my older dog is going to hurt her.
