Story

Spooky is a spayed female shar pei that was rescued and adopted in 2019. She was surrendered due to owner health conditions. She is friendly with people but lunges and barks at other unknown dogs (ex: on walks).    That being said, prior to her adoption she was friendly with other dogs and since she has been in her foster home a few months, she has done great with another submissive female dog in the same home and currently a male dog - playing together, sharing toys and bones.    So, we are confident she can be good with other dogs with slow introductions, but she would be just as happy as an only dog. (She would make a great pair with Romeo, who is also available for adoption). She would love a yard to run around with and a doggie door. She did get used to having people around during COVID, and isn't as happy when left alone.  She isn't currently a fan of crates, and while we did use some temporary medications to help her change of homes (from owner to foster), we are happy to say that she is no longer on any medications for anxiety.  (Note she may benefit from medications again to transition to a forever home, so any adopter should be open and willing to use that tool, short term, if they are wanting to adopt).    She is amazing with her people, likes to sleep on the bed with you, is best walked at times when she won't meet a lot of other dogs (or exercised in her own yard) and will do best with a family that is home most of the time. Spooky is about 55 pounds and has already had entropion eyelid surgery. She is a brushcoat. Spooky is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Poppy is a gorgeous spayed female shar-pei that is looking for her forever home. Originally from a shelter, she is looking for a home with an experienced shar pei (or similar breed) owner. Poppy needs a strong owner that will take the pack leader role. Poppy has had professional training and knows sit, stay, recall, heel, place (for her dog bed) and more. Poppy would do best in a home that embraces crate training or is willing to use a crate for limited situations (initial transition to home, strangers or workmen in home, etc). Training session(s) with her trainer are available for her new adoptive family. Poppy also appears to be fine with cats. She is healthy, is on no medications or special foods. She walks very well on a leash, is housetrained, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccines. She loves to give kisses, seeks out attention and generally is a great dog! She would love a yard, is up for long walks or hikes! Poppy came in with another dog and does best with submissive or neutral dogs. She isnt a fan of dogs running up on her and barking at her. She loves rules and boundaries and does best with them. Oh, did we mention she is quite the looker, too??? She is fostering just outside San Francisco area. Hi I'm Benji. I'm 5 years old, about 60 lbs and very handsome! I am a Bone Mouth Shar Pei currently in a foster home in Portland, Oregon. I can be adopted in California after a meet and greet with interested applicants. I am crate trained, potty trained, walk great on leash, and I knows basic commands! My favorite kind of day would include belly rubs, playing with toys, zoomies, and getting lots of attention! I also love car rides and have been on multiple road trips with my foster family! I would like to be the only child with no other pets and no children. I am already neutered and up to date on vaccines. Let's hear it for Johnny Cash! This "Man in Black" is looking for his forever home. He would be super excited if it included another dog and added bonus if her name was June.  He is fostering with 3 other shar pei and gets along great with everyone. He is completely house trained and is past all the puppy antics of chewing and destroying your house. This boy has none of the shar pei issues of bad ears, bad skin and bad eyes! I mean seriously who doesn't love a shar pei that isn't at the vet on a weekly basis.  This guy is on zero meds! Have that shar pei allergy to the horse coats this guy would be perfect. No prickly hairs on this guy! JC's foster reports that he loves kisses and he missed the part in the shar pei description of being aloof...he loves cuddles. His foster family has a dog door which he takes full advantage of by spending time sunning himself next to the pool.  Swimming isn't really his jam but he is a shar pei after all so that shouldn't be shocking. He does live with Guinea Pigs so we are guessing he would be fine with dog experienced felines. He is totally fine being left alone in the house so no issues with separation anxiety with this guy. Jade is a family friendly shar-pei that recently came to Pei People. She is about 3 years old, is great with dogs (big and small) and kids. She is fostering in a home with Spooky (also available for available for adoption) and sleeps on a dog bed in her Foster's bedroom at night. She enjoys treats and enjoys a good bone, but doesn't seem interested in toys yet. Jade can be aloof with strangers and new environments, but will warm up with some baby talk and patience. Mateo demanded an updated bio!  It's hard to put into words just how FANTASTIC this boy is!  His foster mom felt like he was a diamond in the rough at the beginning and she was right!  He has put on weight, eyes have healed, and he is settling in with his Pei foster siblings beautifully!  He missed the memo about Shar-Pei having an aloof personality.  This boy oozes happiness and loves cuddling and showing his humans just how much he loves them.  He loves playing, so another dog would be ideal for him.  But, if you don't have another dog, he would love a human who works from home.  He is too much of a social butterfly to spend his days alone.  He loves pack walks and is doing quite well on a leash.  The shelter initially thought he was around 7 years old, but his energy level matches closer to 2 y/o.  Mateo with the curly wagging tail is ah-mazing!
