Madeline’s Story Madeline is a 3 years old, female Shar-Pei weighing 33 pounds who was recently rescued from the Baldwin Park ACC and is currently fostered in Surprise, Arizona. When she arrived at the shelter, it was clear she had been neglected for a long time. She was underweight, frightened, in pain, and struggling with severe eye issues. Despite everything she has endured, Madeline has remained gentle and is slowly learning that she is finally safe. After arriving in foster care, Madeline finally has the opportunity to rest, heal, and experience the love and stability she deserves. Despite everything she has been through, she has shown a sweet spirit and is settling into her new surroundings. Madeline is dog-friendly and has enjoyed the company of other dogs. As she continues to decompress and gain confidence, we are learning more about her personality each day. Madeline is currently receiving veterinary care and will undergo entropion surgery to correct her painful eyelids, followed by her spay procedure and any additional medical treatment recommended by her veterinary team. Her focus right now is on healing, recovery, and getting ready for the bright future ahead of her. Madeline will be available for adoption once she has completed her medical treatment, recovered from surgery, and been spayed.

Toni came up from Mexico a few months ago and has been settling in. He was a street dog, covered in ticks and hadn't eaten a good meal in a long while. He got checked out at the vet, got a good bath and some meds, and headed to his foster home. Here is what we now now about him. He has never met a human he doesn’t like. He loves a good snuggle session and is learning to play with toys. He especially likes ropes and plushies. He gets along fantastically with cats and small dogs. He has spent time out at the farm and doesn’t mind horses, pigs, or chickens. He does great in a crate (as long as he can’t see you.. otherwise he will sing you the song of his people). He’s house trained as long as you put him out once he wakes up from a long sleep. He isn’t great at alerting you about it, but once you know him you’ll know his subtle cues. Now for his quirks. He's not a fan of bunnies, but prefers the company of smaller dogs . He has a very sensitive tummy, probably from eating trash on the streets, so he will need slow introductions for any food changes, and all trash cans need to be secured, since he sees them as a food source. He can also be persistent about trying to get to your dinner, and prefers to dine apart from other animals so that he doesn't have to worry about anyone taking his precious food, but will let people handle his food. Overall, he's a really good snuggler and would love a family to call his own where he can continue to learn that he will always have food, love, and a soft bed.
