Story
Hi, my name is Eddie and I would love to meet you. I have been at the shelter since Jul 29, 2023. “Play” is my middle name! Fetch, tug-of-war, frisbee – I’ve done my research and I love it all! Playing together and having fun, followed by curling up at your feet or on the couch would be my absolute ideal day.

Story
My name is Gilgu, and I'm a 5-year-old Shar Pei boy in search of my forever home. I'm a true people-lover. Whether you're a familiar face or a brand new friend, I greet everyone with a wagging tail and a heart full of warmth. Despite not having much experience with walks, I'm a quick learner. While I may not have mastered the art of leash etiquette yet, I'm enthusiastic about exploring the world around me. Barking unnecessarily isn't my style. Other dogs? I'm not overly concerned about them. Instead, I'd rather focus on enjoying our time together. Now, let's talk about my quirks. I'm still learning the whole house training thing. Sometimes I get a little confused about where to take care of my business, but with your patient guidance, I know I'll improve. It's worth noting that I've undergone a few eye surgeries due to my Shar Pei genetics. Occasionally, my eyes get a bit red, but it's not a serious issue. I absolutely adore mealtime. I might let out a few excited barks and finish my meal rather quickly. If you're seeking a loving companion who's ready to embark on a journey of friendship, growth, and lots of tail wags, I'm your guy. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIsLTtIpe3JwdaLP6wYWZDUWdtrvyC6dR

Story
MEET HUCKLEBERRY! This adorable 10-year-old Shar-Pei mix (possibly mixed with lab) will surely melt your heart! Huck is still looking for his forever home. He is a dog with special needs, sort of. He came from California more than a year ago and was possibly a semi-feral dog, stuck out in a backyard with no chance for socializing. He has come out of his shell somewhat with his foster mom, who gives him lots of treats, love, and care. He has been in a long-term foster home with a large fenced yard and other dogs around him. Other dogs comfort him and he feels best when he is secure in his surroundings, so going forward, he will need a similar situation in order to flourish. Initially he was fearful of being approached and touched, though he's never been aggressive in response. But over time, he came to love his foster mom, accept treats and pets from her, and fall in love with his dog siblings. He shares his bed with the other dogs, follows them around the yard, and loves meal time! Every night, he sleeps in his bed in his foster mom's bedroom and loves to be surrounded by his furry family. Anytime his foster mom comes home, he jumps from excitement! Huck will likely never be a lap dog. But he is a companion who likes his space and learns to trust over time. He has a sweet disposition, and needs the right long-term foster or adopter to help him continue to make meaningful steps forward. He needs a person who will accept him for who he is while continuing to work with him, and a person who has a fenced yard, so walks won't be necessary (though certainly can become a goal). He also needs someone who has another dog or two that he can befriend - ideally mellow, easy-going who doesn't mind a shadow. He also needs someone who doesn't mind transporting him to the vet/groomer in a crate, and who can work with a vet since Huck must be sedated for most vet visits.  Huck also has an older elbow injury ins his left leg, so he walks with a bit of a wobble because of that. The surgery is too extensive for this stage of Huck's life, so he takes pain medication to help manage it. He still leads an active and happy life.  Can you open your home and heart to Huckleberry? Story
MEET DAISY! Daisy is a sweet, happy and active 2-year-old Shar-Pei/Chi mix in need of a forever home (her paperwork says Chihuahua but she sure doesn't look like one)! She weighs only about 30-35 lbs. Daisy was rescued from a California shelter, and now am in a foster home near Seattle. She is still discovering the world after a rough time, which included being abandoned in her past. Now, she loves to play, be with her person, get treat and do the zoomies! She's shy and timid with new people, but warms up quickly - especially to women, and more slowly to men who know how to let her come to them and get a treat. (She may snap at someone if they grab at her, as that scares her.) She is in no way mean, however, but is just a girl who needs some patience, love and understanding. She has a scar on her leg and a slight limp stemming from some old injury, but this doesn't impact her one bit, as she loves to run and play. She also does well with baths, and loves belly rubs! Daisy gets along beautifully with other dogs and immediately wants to play. She loves walks and she’s learning about the beach. The waves frightened her at first. She is fine in the car, and she’s crate trained. We don’t know how she is with cats; she’s been confused by her foster mom's parrots, but everyone is. Daisy is also very smart. She sits and waits for her food bowl, comes when called, and is learning new commands readily. No food bowl aggression. She's also walking well on a leash. She's fascinated by slippers and pant legs, so it's possible should have some Corgi or Cattle Dog in her. More than anything, Daisy loves walks, but mostly in non-crowded areas, where she can feel the sunshine or breeze on her face and not stress about her surroundings. She's gradually getting more comfortable with strangers. She doesn’t growl or even bark at the neighbor, though there's been no immediate interaction between them. She will make a great companion for anyone with patience and understanding. Please email for an application.

Story
Animal Profile: Bella Bae is an estimated 7 year old, 35 lb spayed female Sharpei mix originally rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Harlingen, TX. According to her Texas foster, she is a very tidy, sweet and calm indoor dog. She is not barky or jumpy. She has a good energy level for her age, does get zoomies in the yard still and loves her walkies. She has been fostered in a home with other dogs and done great even though one of the residents is a bit reactive (he accepted her quickly). She's overall a sweet and friendly girl. More info to come as we get to know her in foster care.  Foster Update:  Bella is the sweetest and gentlest girl! She has yet to meet a human she doesn't like and she is particularly fond of kids.    Don't let her age fool you, Bella is happiest when she's out walking. She can easily walk 2+ miles at a time and would likely make a fantastic jogging buddy. Once home, she'll nap next to you on the couch for hours.   Bella is a confident pup who isn't afraid of loud noises. She's shown no reaction to fireworks or sirens. She is great at going in her kennel and is generally quiet when left home alone.   Bella is untested with cats, but loves to chase squirrels (see photo), so will need to meet any potential feline friends.   All Bella really wants is a soft bed, yummy food, plenty of time to sniff outside, and a human of her own to shower in kisses.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DG is a 501c3 organization. Story
Prince has a short coat that is mostly black with a white chest. Prince is a very handsome dog. He is very muscular and strong. Prince enjoys the outdoor life but will do well in an indoor environment. He does will with laid back dogs but will stand his ground when challenged. Due to this it is probably best for him to be in a one-dog home. Prince is leash trained but pulls a bit because he is so strong. Prince will need an owner that is patient with him and will continue his training. He will need an owner that knows how to gently handle a strong dog. Prince will need regular exercise and will need to be in a home with a fenced yard. Prince is crate trained and kennel trained. He is currently working on his house training. Prince is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. ##1499381##
