Oscar needs a quiet adult home.  Not a lot of commotion and no very young children.  He does guard his food and toys and kids don't understand that. He’s not keen on being picked up by people he doesn’t know. Once you have earned his trust he’s your best bud! His owner lost her apartment and had to surrender him. He takes a few minutes to warm up after that very affectionate with his people.  He would be great for someone retired, who wants a companion. Age: 5 years Weight:  18 lbs Temperament: Gets along with other dogs, adults, no small kids  Training: Housetrained, crate-trained, has basic training Vetting: neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative Email for questions:     To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself. Please expect an adoption fee of $300; some of our urgent or long-term dogs have discounted fees.October 11, 2025, 2:59 pm
