Story
Several years ago a good samaritan in Nashville saved me, I was running down the road. She took me in for 3 years, but couldn't afford to take me to the vet. I developed skin and ear issues so she reached out for someone to take me, and here I am getting the health care I need and responding very well. Yes I'm mostly blind, but I'm a gentle fellow that enjoys being petted. I could spend the day sitting on a lap being company and enjoying a persons company. I'm quiet and I would be fine in a small home with a small fenced yard because I love to sit in the sun and snooze.

I came from a backyard breeder in Cartersville. They didn’t want me any more so Act2Pups stepped up and rescued me. I was just a number, I didn’t have a name. I hadn’t been to see a vet and was totally confused to be out of a wire cage. I was allowed to decompress and in a week I was coming out of my shell. All my teeth were rotten so I had them all removed, but I do fine eating wet food. I’ve come a long way and I’m doing great. I’m a sweet gentle fellow that needs a home that will understand what my life was like for so many years.

It appears that I spent a great deal of time on my own. When I was rescued I had mats on my mats and it took hours to clean me up. My photos are a before and an after. I’m new to rescue so all I can tell you is I NEVER WANT TO BE NEGLECTED AGAIN, it was so painful I screamed. I’m fine with other rescue pups and I’m getting better every day. I hope to be someone's princess soon.

Max is an 8-year-old Shih Tzu mix, weighing 21 lbs. He’s playful, affectionate, and loves being the center of attention. Great with people of all ages, especially kids, he enjoys walks and belly rubs. Max is mostly house-trained but has had occasional accidents and may need a bit more training here. While he’s wonderful with people of all ages and is extremely friendly, Max doesn’t get along well with other dogs, so we’re seeking a home where he can be the only pet. Due to family changes, we’re helping my in-laws rehome him. Max’s owner travels extensively, and though my in-laws love him, with three young kids, they can’t provide the care he needs. Max is up to date on his shots (vet visit in July). He’s slightly overweight (2-4 lbs) and has mild dental tartar. We’ll provide a list of foods that suit him, as some meats upset his stomach. Max is ready for a loving home where he can thrive as the only dog.
