Story
Meet Bentley Bentley is an 8-year-old pup with a sweet, loyal personality once he warms up to you. He’s house-trained, protective of his home, and happiest in a calm, child-free environment—perfect for a single owner, couple, or retiree who can give him patience and attention. He’s low-maintenance, content being home alone during the day, and doesn’t need much exercise. Bentley can be nervous around men and other dogs but becomes incredibly affectionate once he feels safe. He’ll need a little extra leash training, as he tends to bark on walks. Grooming is needed about 3–4 times a year—he does best with a mobile groomer he’s comfortable with. It breaks our hearts to rehome him, but we know he’ll thrive in the right home. If you’re looking for a loyal, easygoing companion, Bentley might be the one.

Story
🌸 Meet Laurel! 🌸 Laurel is a 2-month-old Shih Tzu–Terrier mix with the sweetest little heart. She may be a bit shy when first meeting new people, but once she feels safe and comfortable, her playful personality shines through. Laurel loves running around and keeping up with the older dogs in her foster home, then happily settling in for a cozy cuddle session when playtime is over. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, kids, and even cats, making her a great fit for a variety of homes. Laurel is also working hard on her puppy basics and is doing very well with crate training and house training for her age. As the last puppy of her litter still waiting for a forever family, Laurel is ready to bring love, joy, and plenty of snuggles into her next home. If you’re looking for a puppy who’s the perfect blend of playful and sweet, Laurel may be the one for you.

Story
(01/04/26) FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Haunter! Haunter is a 4-year-old, 15 lb Shih Tzu/Pekingese mix with the cutest little underbite and a soft, fluffy coat. He’ll need a home committed to regular grooming to keep him comfortable and looking his best. Haunter came to us from a difficult past where he missed out on early socialization, and because of that, the outside world can feel overwhelming for him. He is very fearful in unfamiliar environments, especially with loud noises and busy surroundings, and he will need continued support learning the basics—including leash walking—at his own pace. For this reason, Haunter will do best in a standalone home with a fully fenced yard. Apartments or high-traffic living situations would not be a good fit for him. At heart, Haunter is a gentle, loving boy who just wants to feel safe. He loves being close to his person, enjoys being held, and prefers a calm, predictable lifestyle. He has not shown to be a high-energy or playful dog and would thrive in a quiet home where he can move at his own pace while slowly building confidence with the world. Haunter would do well as an only dog with an adopter committed to patient, positive socialization, or in a home with a laid-back, calm dog companion who can peacefully coexist and help him feel more secure. He will need a patient, understanding adopter—ideally someone experienced with shy or fearful dogs—who can help him learn that the world doesn’t have to be scary. This sweet boy has so much love to give and is looking for a soft place to land with someone who will give him the time, structure, and compassion he deserves. Haunter is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
We are seeking a new home for Bella, a 12-week-old Shih Tzu, because we adopted two sisters at the same time and realized how challenging it is to give each puppy the individual time and attention they deserve. Bella is sweet, gentle, and full of playful energy. She loves walks, outdoor time, and interactive play. We are currently working on potty training and crate training. She thrives on routine, attention, and close companionship. Shih Tzus are true companion dogs and require regular grooming, coat, skin, and eye care, as well as constant human presence. Bella is brown with a white collar, and her coat may lighten as she grows. Bella will go with her bed, favorite toys, a blanket with our scent, transition food, two vaccine doses completed (one remaining), deworming, and a recent vet health certificate. Our wish is for Bella to grow up surrounded by love and care.

Story
Beacon is a six year old Shih Tzu. Beacon is a sweet boy. He is slowly learning to trust people and understand that he can relax and enjoy being a dog. He is not at all aggressive, just a little jumpy if you move too quickly around him. He will let you hold him and he has been so good and patient with meds and baths. He does not understand ‘outside’ or what dogs do outside but he is slowly working on that. He enjoys listening to white noise and nature sounds to help him relax and has even enjoyed watching some football on TV! Beacon would be a great companion for a calm household with lots of love to give. He currently sleeps on a blanket in a large bathroom. He sleeps through most nights with white noise playing. He also naps during the day. He is afraid of the the great outdoors, but is working on it. He’s really good about using potty pads inside and seems to like to wait to do it when you are there if possible. He is a bit nervous if you move too quickly around him but he is getting more comfortable by the day. He demonstrates no aggression at all. He hasn’t barked at cats or teenagers. He rides well in a car. Beacon is a cute, sweet little guy who is being so brave in this new chapter in his life. -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.

Story
Pooh Bear is a Shih Tzu/Bichon Frise puppy. He is very playful and enjoys running and interacting with other dogs. He is so soft and sweet. He likes to play, so plenty of good toys are important. He used to chew everything, but now that he has a raw hide, nothing else is of interest. He uses pee pads consistently and is learning to go outside. He has learned to walk on a leash, he will walk at least twice as far as you do checking everything on both sides of the sidewalk unless you are walking fast and then he keeps up.

He is an endless source of entertainment. He was a born interior decorator, but he has lost interest in that job. He loves snuggles and will curl up in your lap forever if you let him. He runs and jumps and plays with another dog or on his own and then falls asleep. He sometimes sleeps on his back and just looks up at you if he wakes up happy to have a belly rub. He is adorable and charming. It would be impossible not to fall in love with him. The kids in the neighborhood love him. He doesn’t bark often or hoard food. He is fine in the car. He is anxious to please and seems to understand English somehow.
