Story
Take one baby Ewok, mix with a red panda, add a tiny mohawk. Warm in a lap until done. Ding! You've got Toast Yay!, a fluffy caramel sweetie guy who you'll mistake for an expensive plush toy until he blinks. At that point, you'll want to take him home. A little shy at first, he is friendly thereafter, a potential family favorite looking for a snug love harbor of his own.

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $800   Rose is a 3 month old Yorkie x Chihuahua mix who can’t wait to bloom with love in her forever home! Rose and her sister, Chocolate, were surrendered to our rescue at 7 weeks old as the result of an accidental litter. Rose looks like a fluffy little Ewok and she is getting cuter by the day! Rose will remain under 12 pounds fully grown. We will be looking for separate homes for Rose and her sister.    Below is a note from Roses’ foster.  “Rose is a gal who has truly no thorns! Rose is the perfect blend of puppy: playful when she is up and cuddly when she is ready for a nap. Rose loves playing with her toys and with her sister, zooming around their pen with whichever toy has caught her eye for the moment. Rose is absolutely hilarious when she gets snuggles as she rolls over with her legs sticking straight up in the air. Rose instantly learned how to use her precious puppy dog eyes to win over everyone she meets, so she will be the talk of the neighborhood for her new home. Ready to make friends with your neighbors? Rose will trot right over and introduce herself. This girl is so sweet and can’t wait to meet you!  The girls start their day at 8 AM with breakfast as their pen is cleaned. After they eat, they go outside and soak up the sunshine while they chew on their toys. Throughout the day, they play, nap, chase each other, and repeat. They sneak in snuggles whenever they think I’m not looking! They eat lunch at noon and dinner at 5 PM. They spend their evenings snuggling with me as I finish up work and then head to bed in their pen around 9 PM to dream of treats and kisses!  Rose has been socialized with dogs of all sizes. She has explored the world in a puppy carrier and has been very polite when she meets new people. She especially loves meeting kids, because they drop yummy snacks! Rose would be an absolutely amazing addition to any home, and with a face that cute, how could you resist?”   Rose is only an option for homes who have owned a dog in the last 5 years. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7.February 27, 2024, 11:15 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, February 24th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $500   Wally is a 2 year old Yorkie x Chihuahua mix who was surrendered to DPS after being given to a family friend of his former home. This loving boy wasn’t given what he needed to thrive previously but we made him a promise his forever home would be his dream come true. This 14 pound boy is the perfect size to cuddle, and what could be better than that!    Below is a note from Wally’s foster home.  “Wally is a sweet and loving boy who blossoms as he gets to know and love you. At first, he was very scared and nervous but as he settled in, he started showing us his cuddly and sensitive personality. Wally has a very soft coat that makes him a joy to pet for hours at a time. Wally has slowly shown us how patient, gentle, and intelligent he is as we have gotten to know him. He loves a soft bed to snuggle in after coming in from a rainy day walk, which he braves in a rain jacket! Wally is starting to show interest in toys, especially as he watches our other dogs play. Wally loves pets and will give us a nudge when he doesn’t think he has gotten enough love yet. Wally will be a wonderful addition to a home ready to give him the time and love he needs to settle in, and then he will give you a lifetime of faithful companionship.  Wally wakes up at 8 AM for his morning stretches and pets. He gets a walk and then comes home for breakfast. During the day, Wally hangs out and snoozes as I work from home, going out for bathroom breaks as needed. We take another walk between 5-6 PM and he loves observing the world as it goes by. He has dinner around 7 PM and then snuggles with us and our dogs until bedtime at 10:30 PM.  Wally gained his confidence watching our other dogs “dog” and would do very well with a canine companion in his forever home. Wally is very observant and will be fun to train for his lucky forever home. Wally is learning how to walk on a leash and is doing great so far! He does well when he can watch our other dogs, especially when the world is big and scary. He responds very well to praise which is helpful as we introduce him to more experiences. Wally has been a wonderful dog as we have gotten to see him open up to us and we know his patient forever home will be lucky to have him.”   Wally is only an option for homes who have owned a dog in the past 5 years, and we will prioritize homes who currently own a dog. Kids in the home should be over the age of 12.February 27, 2024, 11:15 pm

This petite gal may have had a rough start to her life that we wish we could ask her about, but she is eager to get started on the new life we promised her! Gemma has a lovely coat that is lighter shed, so she may be an option for those with either lighter allergies, or who just want less hair around the house! Below is a note from her foster. “Gemma is the sweetest goofball in the entire world! If she could spend her entire day cuddled up next to you in a pile of blankets, she would (and she does now)! Gemma’s adorable mohawk goes from the top of her head to the tip of her tail, and has a foot that is in a constant “plie” ballet position”. She loves to show off her bunny hops when she is excited, which delights everyone who meets her. She is well loved by everyone in the neighborhood and by all the volunteers at DPS. She adores her fluffy blankets and happily burrows into them throughout the day. She is so loving and absolutely adores her people, she could truly not be a sweeter and lovely dog.  Gemma wakes up at around 7 AM. She gets three walks a day: 8:30 AM, 4 PM, and 9 PM. She eats at 9 AM and 6 PM. During the day she hangs out in the house with our dog and gets her tan on. Gemma is a lounger but she still shows off her playful side! She gets along with our 15 month old Jack Russel mix and we sometimes spot them play wrestling which is very cute. She also gets along with our other foster, a nursing mom and her puppies. She does very well on walks and loves going outside. Gemma is fully housetrained. She is the perfect “go with the flow” dog. She is happy to go on an adventure but is also happy to chill for a movie night. She is also absolutely adorable to boot.” Gemma is an option for just about any kind of home, regardless of prior dog experience. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7.February 27, 2024, 11:15 pm
