Rescued from the shelter, Paperback came into foster care shy and unsure, but beneath that cautious exterior is a truly gentle soul who is learning that the world — and the people in it — can be kind.   Paperback’s days follow a comforting routine that helps him feel secure. He wakes up around 7:00 a.m. and heads into the backyard for a quick potty break, then settles onto his favorite bed to calmly observe the morning activities around him. Breakfast is at 8:00 a.m., followed by a few hours of napping. Later in the day, he enjoys spending time in the yard, where he likes to sunbathe and occasionally sniff around. His afternoons include more rest, short training sessions, and quiet companionship. Dinner is at 6:00 p.m. (he can be a little picky and may skip a meal now and then), and by 9:00 p.m. he’s happily curled up on his favorite bed next to his people for the night.   When Paperback first arrived, he was trembling and frozen with fear, unsure of what was expected of him. Rather than fleeing, he would quietly stay in place, hoping for gentleness — and that gentleness has made all the difference. In just a week, he has shown beautiful progress. He has learned that treats, soft voices, gentle pets, and slow movements are good things. He now approaches when a hand is offered, carefully but willingly, and has even begun to enjoy very soft, gentle snuggles. One of his sweetest habits is coming over to sniff feet when someone is sitting nearby, a quiet way of saying he wants to connect.   Paperback is a thoughtful observer and a willing learner. He loves treats and is motivated by them, which has helped him engage in training even when he feels unsure. While he isn’t a Velcro dog, he does enjoy knowing where his people are and may softly whine for a few seconds if someone leaves the room. He is content spending time relaxing on his bed or in the yard, and his most energetic moments come when treats are tossed and he happily trots off to collect them.   He currently lives with a small, confident resident dog and has been learning by watching him. Paperback takes cues from this dog to better understand humans and routines in the home, and he has begun eating meals alongside him and even sniffing toys during playtime. A confident, playful canine companion could be a wonderful influence for him in his future home.   Paperback is fully house-trained and has had zero accidents in his foster home. He does not chew, dig, bark, or display destructive behaviors. In fact, his foster has yet to hear him bark at all — he communicates instead with the occasional soft whine when he needs something or feels momentarily unsure. He was previously fostered with a cat and is an option for a cat-owning home as well.   Leash walking is still a work in progress, and Paperback hasn’t gone on formal walks yet. For now, he feels safest enjoying yard time and building confidence at his own pace. With patience and continued positive reinforcement, his comfort with the leash can grow just like the rest of his skills have.   Paperback does well with respectful children and is especially comfortable around calm energy. He is less nervous around older kids who understand how to give him space and allow him to approach on his own terms.   The ideal home for Paperback is one with patient, understanding adopters who are willing to continue helping him come out of his shell. A calm household, children over 8 who can respect his boundaries, and possibly a confident canine companion would be wonderful fits for him.   What makes Paperback truly special is the sweetness he carries beneath his shyness. He is learning to trust again, and each day brings small but meaningful victories. One favorite moment is his morning potty routine, when he bursts into brief, joyful zoomies before trotting proudly back into the house, clearly pleased with himself.   Paperback is a tender-hearted dog with so much love to give. With patience, kindness, and time, he is blossoming into a loyal, affectionate companion — and the best chapters of his story are still ahead.March 7, 2026, 8:14 pm

Story
Meet Catherine: A Tiny Treasure Waiting to Bloom Catherine is a 3-year-old Yorkie mix who proves that the best things come in small, 6lb packages. Like her friend Heathcliff, Catherine was rescued from a difficult hoarding situation. Having lived her life in survival mode, she is now learning—one quiet moment at a time—what it means to be safe, cherished, and loved. Her Personality: Catherine is the definition of "shy but oh-so-cute." She is a tiny lady with a very big heart, though she keeps it tucked away until she knows she can trust you. She desperately wants to be loved, but the world can still feel a bit big and scary to her. She’s looking for a patient soul who will let her go at her own pace, offering soft words and gentle pets as she realizes she never has to be afraid again. Her Social Life: Dogs: Catherine finds a lot of comfort in the presence of other dogs. Having a confident canine sibling in the home would likely help her come out of her shell much faster! Cats: Given her gentle, timid nature, she is expected to do well with feline friends. Humans: She is a "one-step-at-a-time" kind of girl. She needs an adopter who finds joy in the small victories—the first time she initiates a snuggle or the first time she wags her tail when you walk into the room. Ideal Home: Because Catherine is so small and easily overwhelmed, she would thrive in a quiet, predictable household. A home without young children (12+) would be best to ensure her environment stays calm and peaceful while she builds her confidence. Catherine has survived the hardest part of her life. Now, she just needs a person to show her that the rest of her life will be filled with warmth, treats, and endless love.   All dogs/puppies will be spayed/neutered unless spay/neuter contract is signed with additional deposit. Story
We rescued Milo from a shelter. He was timid neglected skinny and covered in fleas. Has poor skin and coat condition due to flea allergy dirt and poor diet. Thanks to the shelter for bathing and cutting off his mats. Milo warms up and is friendly with people and dogs. At his transport foster home he liked their dogs and jumped on their laps. ð&#194&#159¥° Milo is a gentle sweetie. Milo sleeps in crate at night. He will get his vet exam and Rabies with our vet. Milo will need time to get healthy with fresh foods probiotics Kefir and will get extra TLC at his foster home. Once he gains some weight then he will get neutered. More info and photos to come. 2/19/25: Milo has his 2nd vet visit for itchy skin from flea allergy neglect or poor diet. Vet gave him a anti-itch injection meds skin scrap test blood test medicated shampoo ear cleaning with meds and antibiotics. His current foster home is not experienced and would like us to find him another more dog experienced foster home. He is sweet and timid. Did seem happier at his first transport foster home with 2 dogs at home. Went onto laps. 3/5/26: Milo's vet just prescribed a special shampoo to be used for a month. Had cytopoint injection. Gained weight. Fur growing back. Milo is doing much better! Once his coat and skin look good and no more itching then neuter. Will probably take another month at his foster home.March 10, 2026, 12:50 am

Story
Maggie is a 5 yo Yorkie. She was my Father in laws dog from a puppy. Sadly my father in law passed away and my husband brought her to our home after he passed. We have two females in the house a 9 yo bulldog mix and 12 yo Chihuahua mix. She is unfortunately too playful for our Older Chihuahua and giving her terrible anxiety. Maggie would do best in a home as a single dog or with another outgoing small breed. She has tons of energy and loves to play. She is potty trained, well mannered and loves people and kids.

Story
Yoshi the Yorkie has a nice ring to it, and this marvelous mutt does not disappoint. Shaggy brown and black fur (likely a bit more manageable after a haircut) frames eyes that may be vision impaired but can see a bright future. Yoshi is an intrepid explorer who, even with limited vision, agilely maneuvers through his environment with ease. He assertively makes friends; in fact, this determined doggo won’t take no for an answer. If he wants to be friends, then friends you are, but who wouldn’t want to befriend this sweet super senior? The only drawback is that he doesn’t lay eggs with smaller versions of himself like his namesake, but one Yoshi is already a gift. Come snag him today! Here's some notes from his foster: Yoshi is a super endearing mellow guy. He loves to sleep in his bed all day and get occasional outside breaks and neck scratches. He is mostly blind and deaf, but does respond to loud noises. He also looks up when people are near.. He is good about mapping his surroundings so he can find his water bowl and favorite bed. Once he is settled in, he is lovable, easy going guy that will be a low maintenance beautiful companion for the right family.

Story
Fillmore is a whole party packed into one tiny Yorkshire Terrier. Treats are his love language, his purpose, his reason for zoomies. He chews every bite like a philosopher savoring life’s little joys, tail whirling like a propeller the whole time. This happy guy is a total people-person, always ready to charm anyone within tossing distance of a snack. Fillmore doesn’t just walk into a room, he lights it up, wags it up, and turns every moment into playtime. He’d be the perfect companion for someone who loves staying active and having a joyful pup by their side for every adventure.
