Story
Meet Al Dente and Casserole, a delicious dish just waiting to be eaten right up (figuratively, please) by you. Al Dente is an introvert who needs time to settle in and prefers to live with older children/adults. His eyebrows come with its own zip code and his Yorkshire scruff has the perfect amount of texture. Casserole is an extroverted lovebug who loves to spend quality time with her humans, taking short walks or just relaxing in a nice quiet spot. They are both such rock stars! If you find paparazzi lurking in your bushes waiting to catch a glimpse of them, just give them the shot they want; you don't want to make enemies with those guys.

Story
Intercepted while attempting to hitchhike to the Westminster Dog Show, this handsome Yorkie could hardly be blamed for such high aspirations. Kabob is extraordinarily handsome, a swirl of scruff in chocolate and caramel topped by ears of alarming symmetry. His charm is top notch, and making friends with dogs and humans is his superpower. A true gent, Kabob will leave a dog bed to welcome visitors with a gentle boop and a sniff. Come down and try it! And if you were to rub his tum in return, he would not be disappointed. In fact, he would happily follow you home.

Story
Meet Olive. She is a fiesty, happy little girl. She walks well on a leash (and thoroughly enjoys her walks), loves to eat, housebroken, and sleeps much of the day away in her bed or on the couch. She came to rescue covered in filth and mats. That gave her a skin condition that required several months of treatment and recovery. But she is ready to go now. Her new adopter(s) will get the pleasure of watching her bald spots disappear! Many of those spots have fuzz on them already but a couple may ultimately remain hairless. She is only 6 pounds and cute as a button so, on walks, be prepared to hear over and over "oh, look at her...so cute". When she comes across dogs on walks, she is so excited she almost comes across aggressive. But when she gets face to face, she is so happy to meet them! Given the shape she was in when she came to us, it appears she has had a tough time in the past. She is still coming out of her shell and learning to trust. I have had the pleasure of caring for her for a couple of months thru her skin problem and she has come to trust me. It has been such a pleasure to watch. She plays with me, happy to see me, lets me put meds on, etc. She still has food aggression but, again, given her trust of me, I am now able to take her food without a problem. If you think she might fit into your home, please visit WrenYorkieRescue.org, click on Forms, fill out the adoption application, and mail in or submit online so we can set up a meet and greet.

Meet Jessie. The first thing to say about her is how sweet and loving she is. Always so happy to be around her family. She has advanced cataracts but that doesn't seem to bother her or slow her down. She is always in the mix! She has memorized her environment which includes a 4 stair stairway! She is the favorite of many of the volunteers...just sweet sweet sweet. If you think she might fit into your home, please visit WrenYorkieRescue.org, click on Forms, fill out the adoption application, and mail in or submit online so we can set up a meet and greet. Story
MAY 2024: TEDDY is currently a big 20# boy, similar to the standard size 300+ years ago when the breed was first established; he could stand to lose up to 5# & should be able to do this with good walks & high quality food, as he is not a big eater and is VERY people-oriented. Teddy LOVES to gnaw on small beef kneecaps from Chewy.com; he would adore being a lapdog, but is very polite about asking permission to hop into an occupied chair or his person’s bed at night—where he wants to cuddle close on top of the covers. Teddy gets along with other dogs, but will grumble when they get into his bowl or try to steal his kneecap (even when others have their own bones!). He would do well in a family with older children and/or perhaps a stay-at-home grandparent to keep company with; he is a good watchdog while not being overly vocal.

Basil came from the shelter with a few of his friends after his former home was no longer able to care for him. We told him we would find him a perfect forever home and it's been smooth sailing ever since. Basil weighs 13 pounds and is as happy as can be to follow you along on all of life’s adventures. Basil is a pip-squeak boy with a heart bigger than his body and he promises to make all your wishes come true if you are lucky enough to bring him home!    Basil is the sweetest pup looking for a home ready to give him the best life has to offer from toys to belly rubs to snuggles to walks to treats. This little boy has the most fabulous habit of building pillow forts and curling up on them like the king he is. He loves prancing around the house and yard with his toys as he shows off his adorable face. Basil loves his people more than anything and would love to take on the world, whether on a leash or in a doggy backpack. He has bursts of puppy energy and adores squeaky toys, but he’s also content lounging around and getting naps in. He also loves to shred paper so make sure you keep important documents away from this wannabee accountant! He would love a permanent spot on the couch in a cuddle pile, and with his little smiling face it’s hard to resist him.  Basil starts his morning at 7:30 AM with a potty break and some zoomies. This early bird always gets the best worms and happily greets the day. He waits a bit before breakfast, working up an appetite with toys and cuddles. Throughout the day, Basil loves to hang out with his people but he is also more than happy to occupy himself if needed. He loves soft beds, soft blankets, and warm laps to cuddle up on for hours at a time. At 5 PM, Basil has dinner followed by more playtime and an evening walk before he curls up for bed!  Basil gets along with the resident dog and would love a canine companion in his forever home! Basil experienced a leash for the first time in his foster home and he is learning to love exploring the world. He gains confidence as he watches other dogs and people do the thing, so he’d love to do it with you! Basil would love a home ready to put in the time to help him bloom into a confident dog. Watching Basil figure out the things he loves will be the best adventure there is for his new people!    Basil is only an option for homes who have owned a dog in the last 5 years. Kids in the home should be over the age of 12.May 21, 2024, 10:48 pm

Story
Chloe is a sweet 2 1/2yr old, 11 lb Maltipoo who has been such a joy to foster. She came into rescue with some pretty bad injuries after being hit by a car. With a broken pelvis and front leg, Chloe was in pain and had been living with it for some time. Chloe's front leg healed with a case, and her pelvis rested and she had an FHO (femoral head ostectomy) surgery which should give her a better future. Chloe has been living with our 4 dogs and three cats harmoniously. She is playful with the dogs and gentle and respectful with our cats. Chloe is has done well with potty training but has had a few accidents when she couldn’t get out in time due to no fault of her own. She loves being in the back yard and loves toys and safe things to chew on.  She loves to be with us and loves going in the car and to outdoor cafes. We have taken her to friends' houses many times and she is a perfect guest. Chloe still needs some practice on leash walks. She can be leash reactive with some dogs. Chloe is responsive to corrections when being bossy with other dogs and has gotten jealous a few times. She is very loving and likes to be close to her people. Chloe would do great in a home with another resident dog and older children. She’s fine with cats and sleeps happily in the same bed with them. We also feel strongly that Chloe needs to go to a home with a fenced yard.  We adore this girl and know that she will be great joy to her new family. Please feel free to ask us any questions you have about Chloe  Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Chloe is $500. If you are interested in adopting Chloe, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. May 21, 2024, 11:55 pm

Story
Ginsburg may have been an adventurer in his youth, exploring the city in search of excitement and street snacks, but now he's ready for the comforts of a warm, loving home. Having seriously neglected his beauty routines during his wild phase, Ginsburg is now being pampered with soapy baths, a stylish buzz cut, skin-soothing meds, and soul-soothing cuddles. He's just the sweetest, friendliest guy around, and is clearly so happy to finally be cared for and comfortable. Ginsberg gets along great with other dogs! He has a decent amount of energy for a senior and would love regular adventures and walkies. He is very sweet and adorable! Here's some notes from his foster: Ginsburg is wonderful!! He is quick to learn good behaviors. When it comes to potty training, he tried to aim at the pee pads. I have been taking him out for walks and he spends a lot of time in the garden so he gets a lot of opportunities to do it outside. Over the weekend, he looked at me and quietly squeaked while walking towards the back door. I followed and, while standing next to the door, I asked if he wanted to go outside and he started wagging his tail so I took him outside. Since then, this is how he is letting me know he needs to go outside! Also, he doesn't need to go to the bathroom at night! I get a full night sleep and have to wake him up in the morning to take him out. He saw that Benji sleeps with me in my bed so now when he wants to get on the bed, he will look at me and squeak quietly and wag his tail. He sleeps with me and Benji in my bed and had NEVER had any accidents! Yes he is verbal while on a walk but I experimented a bit and decided to take him for walks with treats (he LOVES them) and if I see someone approaching us or if he sees someone from a distance, I reach for the treat and his whole attention is on the treat only and getting more. I probably won't be able to train him not to be verbal on walks in the couple of weeks he will be with me but if there is a person who falls in love with him, I don't think having to carry treats in a pocket is a big deal. He can be both active or a couch potato (whichever you prefer). When I work, he will sleep. When i take him for walks, he has as much energy as Benji; he can even walk as fast as Benji if you let him. He is great on the leash (but don't forget to have treats in your pocket). He can do stairs with no problems but he is also comfortable if I want to carry him.

Story
Mr. Little Potato Head! What a great name. To our best knowledge, probably a maltese poodle mix, he's approximately 3 years old and weights about 14 pounds. He is great with people and children. He walks well on a leash but does like to bark at other dogs, but will settle when you correct him. He loves to eat and is very food/treat motivated. He must have had a family before as he settled in with his foster very easily. He does well in car rides and loves his daily walks. Are you ready to incorporate him into your family!? SF Bay Area Adoptions only, please email if interested.
